    A few months ago I was given the opportunity to be assistant dance teacher with my own teacher on two of her dance teams, and this video gave me a good understanding of what it takes to be a dance teacher. And even though i'm not without a bit of experience, i've never done it on this level!

    I agree - the best dancers don't always make the best teachers. It's a completely different skillset.
    You have to be patient, encouraging, keep people engaged (trust me, standing in the middle of 20 or 30 people for the best part of an hour without boring them is not easy), know when to push the class as a whole and know when to hold back. You need to know when people are going wrong and need to be able to tell them and offer a solution (and without hurting their egos).
    I think the most important is teaching beginners - how you teach them can make the difference between that person carrying on or never dancing again.

      Agree with all what you said, especially about beginners, sometimes they think they don't like the dance when actually they did not enjoy the experience 🤔

    I love the fact I found a person who teaches like you do, encouraging and supporting us the ones we consider ourselves as your students. Is your personality that makes you so special, is the love you share with what you do and how you do it that makes us stick with you. Thank you for following your heart and keeping your passion no matter what, you thought us more than just dancing during this year. Love you 🤗💕

Last weekend I joined your online classes for the first time and because of the warm vibes you send through my screeen, I will be there tonight again :) Wish you all the best and hopefully corona will pass by very soon, so you can do the thing you're so passionate about: dancing (with others)!

    Hey! I've watched your video I found it amazing thank you!!! And very helpful (and funny :) ). So the thing is, I have been dancing salsa for about 2 years now, and my boyfriend is teaching salsa as well. We dance at different dance school and his dance school has a shortage of women teachers so I will probably be starting the next salsa beginners class with him (he already has a bachata class since october 2022). I am super super nervous. I have never taught a bigger class before, although I have taught several times in private teaching (not dance... maths xD ) but I am quite intimidated about the big class thing which is ironic because I'm studying to be a teacher... :D . The part of thinking about my students and how to be a better teacher definitely applies. So much! I think I could definitely teach some basic steps, luckily when I first learned salsa I also had to learn the boy's part so I can switch it around in my head as well. But the fact that I will be the "god" in a sense that the new scared anxious or even excited and curious people trying out salsa for the first time will meet at that first session. I can imagine - I know! - how much of a responsibility that might take. Oh yeah and I'm only 20 btw, so totally just hatched out of the egg... :DD. But I do fear I might not be the best for them due to my lack of experience since I've only been dancing for 2 years (I'm an intermediate). Yet if I have this chance at this dance school I might as well try it out at least. Really really nervious I am sure to sit down and meditate before the first lesson if I am actually going to do it. But thank you for the video it did give me some tips and also to be realistic and know if the path isn't necesarrily for me. And you're very funny btw :)))

      Look as long as you are always honest and teach only what you know you'll be ok. We all need to start somewhere 😉 a lot you learn as you go , but honesty is key and trying constantly to learn yourself ❤

    Hello Rasa. Thank you for this video, you have been clear and seems like you spread a hopefull energy :) I am a 27 years old girl who would be interested in becoming a dance teacher...I am at the beginning of my idea so that I don't know yet which style I would like to teach or what course should I take (speaking in practical words...). By the way I studied ballet, a little of modern and break dance from 6 to 16 years old but it's been 10 years now that I don't practice anything. Do you have any recommendations? Please they would be really helpfull whatever could guide me into something... also for realizing if I am actually still on time for it or no... Thank you! Gloria.

      I have had similar story, dance when I was little then had a long gap until found salsa. Even though I know I will never be on a stage doing crazy tricks, dancing is so much more then just tricks. And teaching even more different, so you are definitely not too old. But finding a style you want to focus on is up to you. There has to be smth you are more passionate about ?

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You just need to for yourself set the line or few lines that you believe you should not cross. When you have them in your head it's easier to follow. Good thing also to remember they are not your friends. You have to treat them friendly and be nice to them and open , but they are not suppose to know about your personal life , unless is dance related 😉.

And I'm also planning to take dancing as my future career (I'm in 9th grade) This is truly very helpful for me ❤️❤️❤️❤️. I also wanna upload dance cover but I'm a little insecure about it even I though I post song covers. This video really helped me . One question is it good to take dancing as a future career.
