I was so excited to see this video because as a lifelong Christian but latecomer to Stoicism who is now using both paradigms, I naturally started comparing and contrasting these two organized systems of ethical thought and ways for living. I will watch it multiple times. It is fascinating historically and deeply meaningfully spiritually for me. Thank you for making your videos.
Christianity and Stoicism certainly go hand in hand. I've found that incorporating Stoic practices like mindfulness and journaling has deepened my own faith and helped me live more in accordance with Christian values.
From what I am now being taught through these teachings, I can see similarities and through these teachings aligned with the Bible , my experience is that they complement eachother, I am becoming a wiser and a better person, thinking clearer and acting calmer, my mind is at peace and faith and believe is stronger. Thank you for helping me on this journey. I am really enjoying these videos ❤
For me, I sense that as Jesus prayers be upon him conveys and delivers God's orders to me and for me to follow. Stoisisim and Stoics provide me with the know how to at fist know myself to become a better person. So then afterwords, I can constantly rationalize and choose my religious undertaking as what I am all about unaffected by culture, tridition, or any unmeaningfull element.
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones." Marcus Aurelius A moral system based on rationality and philosophy is vastly preferable to religious beliefs.
Considering there is a straight line from the enlightenment to the communist gulags, I would say that theory as been tried and found wanting. religion and philosophy overlap very closely too.
I don't understand the context of the video. Stoicism is a code of behavior not a religion. So why then would we opposite them in the viewpoint? This causes me concern.
Religions have teachings, values, and codes of behavior. So do philosophies. I fail to see why anyone should be puzzled by the comparison between Christianity and Stoicism.
Stoicism is from a school of thought just like being a student of Christ. So the comparison is from the perspective of Paul and Seneca. It bring context of what the early Christians was faced with. I’m here for it. This video is powerful for apologetics.

I believe some aspects of stoicism are great and can be applied to everyday life in some ways ,however it seems stoicism encourages one to be put more emphasis on trusting of themselves instead of the all powerful yahweh and his son yeshua .. i believe that stoicism for a christian is good only up to a certain point before it becomes idolatry of one self and becoming only a believer of yourself . It is of course possible to be a christian stoic. As long as you live by the christian commandments and accept Jesus as your savior, it makes no difference what other philosophies you use to navigate your way through your time in mortal life.
You can implement many stoic methods and still be a man of GOD. God wants a pure relationship with you, you know each of in truth and spirit. If you anger easy, learn the stoic art of not lashing out, and tell yourself "how would God want me to handle this situation. "
Calendar mistake. It is pretty. much proven and accepted that Jesus was born around what the modern world refer to as "4 B.C." Oh, it is pretty much accepted by scholars that He was born in the springtime too . . . not on December 25th.
Jesus was not a philosopher. Also, not sure how you can compare these 2 things. Stoicism is ideas of how a mere human believes is the best way to live and its not a religion. Christianity is truth spoken by an all powerful God. You cannot compare Gods words to the words of a human.
Everything in life is because of a belief. Every time we sit in a chair, we have belief its going to support us and not collapse. So using your logic, believing in that chair supporting us would be like a religion? Religion has a God people worship. There is nothing about stoicism to worship, just advice from humans just like us.
Christianity is behavior and mindfulness. Both are how and what you are displaying and how you think the same which is what the Bible teaches through scriptures. Jesus is the focus. The principles are the same.

Stoicism is not connected to Christianity. Although Stoicism refers to gods, it is a philosophical doctrine without religion. Q: What do Stoics believe? Stoicism holds that we can only rely on our responses to outside events, while the events themselves we cannot control.
