I like ideas that stoicism presents like self control, not being guided by our emotions to make irrational decisions. But my first allegiance is to Christ and I will put his teachings before anything.
For Christians, salvation indeed comes from Christ and you are saved by faith, however, faith cannot exist without works. Works are things like love, self-discipline, and practicing other virtues. If one does not cultivate these things in their personal life they do not have authentic faith in Christ. Therefore the Stoics and the Christians both agree that a person should work on self-improvement.
No they cannot be in conjunction. The Word of God contains all that is needed to live on this chaotic world because it is the Holy Spirit that leads the Christian into all Truth, Life & the Way which Jesus.
They can live in conjunction. I see so many Christians who lack self control and self awareness. They both work together. Stoicism does not dispel the belief in God, but encourages self awareness.
@@ECLECTRIC_EDITS semantics aside, I agree in principle…although, both John’s gospel and Paul’s letter to the Colossians are clear that ‘the universe’ was made BY Christ, not FOR Christ…
The RCC followed right into the teachings of Agustine's belief into stoicism. This is the result of pagan doctrines developed from the start. People need to read the scriptures with an attitude of developing a "relationship" with The Savior and not with man-made religious rules & pope's dominance & tyrany.
I am stoic christian
Same!
I am continuing to work my way there.

Music too loud
We'll bring it down on future videos. Thank you.
What good is stoicism when you don't go live for God?
Well, you can be one with God. Hristos himself.

What if you live for God first, then Stoicism may have some good, no?
Brilliant presentation.
Thank you, sir. I am still early in my own journey of learning. I am hoping this helps others frame their own studies.

We should do that, but also fully rely on God to guide and sustain us.
@@PunkDogCreationsyes, but lots of Christians can also learn self control.

Did you write the essay for this video? Or was it Ai made? It was great
I researched and wrote it myself. Thank you.
I added links to some of the sources of my readings for this video, if you want to dig deeper. :)
Seneca teachings are beyond solid…GREATEST TEACHER EVER
Incredible vid
Thank you. Glad you liked it!
The first stoics were devout pagans with a similar idea of virtue so christians being stoics doesn’t seem strange.
stoicism also influenced the developement of christian monasticism through middle platonism or so ji am told.
Jesus Christ was here when the world was created. His words live on as does Jesus Christ. He is alive today and he is everywhere.
Stoic christians are called ascetics
Thinking questions like this "Can X be Y?" is called "intersectionality" and it's super cringey.
Wisdom, courage, temperance and justice are hardly unique to Stoicism…these virtues predate both Stoicism and Christianity in space and time…
Nothing predates Christianity because the Universe was made for Christ.

Funny, yes it is. This is the core principle of the Catholic church.
Thats why we have the ancient writings, they where copied by monks.
