I have to say Juan is absolutely correct about how the thrashin bars and risers change how light and nimble the RG is. I bought a 21 RG special in January 21 from Top Rocker HD. Had them put the 6.5” pullback risers and the high bend bars, this was incredible. Did a 4500 mile road trip to sturgis and more in 9 days. This set up was the most comfortable and also the ability to ride aggressive is amazing. Great job Thrashin on this set up. 🤘
You two work so well together like PB&J When I first started following you, I thought Juan was more of just a side kick. I am finding he is a very integral part of the Business.
I have been thinking through these two and the Road King Special (with a fairing of some sort) for days on end. I have test ridden them, sat on them again, and still couldn’t make up my mind until I watched this video. So, thank you!!! Great video.

Until you change out those "Wheel Barrel" handlebars on a stock RG, they will NEVER feel anything different than a grandpa bike. You need to ride one that already has been modified to get a realistic feel for how an RG truly rides. The LRST comes from the factory already setup way more aggressive than most stock harleys....the bars are usually the first thing EVERYONE should change on a touring harley, as the stock ones are simply horrible. THe position is down on your lap in front of you on all of them....minute you change that the whole bike changes entirely.

I appreciate your commentaries. I own an Iron 883 3 gal peanut tank and long trips suck because of that. You gave me some food for thoughts on which bike to get next. I am interested in both bikes and one factor that weight heavy for me is the ability to split lanes. I live in the Bay Area and traffic sucks bad here!!! It is easier to split lanes with a sportster or any soft tail than a Road Glide or Street.
Great content, thanks guys. I went from a 21 LRS to a 22 RGST and I cannot describe the love I feel for the Road Glide. It’s a world of difference and Juan’s description of agility the Road Glide has is spot on given a bar/riser set up to the rider.

The Garmin will control moving through your song playlists, it will show you text messages, time, weather and other things. Get a Bluetooth control that has big buttons. That’s how I set up my LRST. Best choice would be based on your riding plans. Can certainly ride two up on the LRST, but for longer rides, touring frame will be more comfortable and provide more room for storage.
I have the road glide ST and my brother has the low rider ST. The low rider is imho, the road glide for small guys. Im 5’10 230 and the low rider feels like a dude any larger than me would be uncomfortable. The road glide handles just as good, and wheelies almost as easy.
I'm going from my RG ST to a Low Rider ST.. I do one long ride a year, other than that is usually 100-200 mile rides so I figured I would try it out. Also, just placed an order today with all the good stuff from you guys, your low rider st build has inspired me 👍

I figured it was because of my rough hands, but it seems others have the same problem.

Great comparison. As a potential Harley customer I don't understand why they don't put the 117 in the base RG and sell it for a reasonable price. To me running a couple different production lines for different engine sizes doesn't make any sense. I think Harley is missing the boat. Yes, they have a great bike and have a very loyal Fanbase. But Harley shouldn't screw current loyal owners and potential new customers with their marketing schemes.
Great video. Definitely helped and hindered my decision. I have owned a sportster, CVO Road Glide, and my current Road Glide Ultra. I want something new. After watching this review, I'm leaning towards a Road Glide Special. I prefer the bigger bags, and bigger fuel tank. I'm in Edmonton, AB. Our season is short and our nights are cold. Rode a Softail Customs for many years (still peeved I traded it in) until I was talked into getting a 'grown up bike,' a Street Glide. that extra weight really threw me off. Tried to get used to it for about six months. Saw the Low Rider ST...to me its just about the best of both worlds. I installed your 6.5" pullback with the mid bend bars. I just wish the bent back more towards me, as I still have to reach a bit. I'm more about riding in the N. Ga mountains than long touring. All in all, a great bike.
I have a Street Glide with the 107 and the SE447 torque cam and I don’t have any problems passing people. I don’t need to downshift, just twist the throttle and it also makes normal street riding pretty fun as that torque is right there available. I also have a better air intake and mufflers but that’s it, nothing special and it’s more than enough for me.
Have them both, 2020RGS/131& 2020LRS/117. Thank you Harley. Looking at your bikes have you ceramic coated those bikes? I'm in Ontario CA do you have a guy? Thanks you guys are awesome.
I opted for the FXLRST and installed the radio .. I’m putting on the 8” pull back risers.. foot pegs , engine guards. And most importantly I’m mounting a carpe iter tablet.. it’s similar to ..well,, it is the Samsung galaxy active tab 3-4 which is mil spec rugged.. but the carpe iter is built specifically for motorcycles. Waterproof.. completely solves the infotainment problem… and you can pop it off and watch Netflix and TH-cam videos.. or even ride with.. plus there is a handlebar controller.. super sweet … it’s a better tech platform than Harley
Great review, agree on all LRST points, but loving the bike, other than that silly headlight ring design and my bars look slightly offcenter/twisted?? Others noticing the same.
Very informative and insightful. This helps, thank you Thrashin Supply. Now i just need to decide between Street Glide or Road Glide, ST or Standard for my second bike…🤔
That's what Cardo helmet comms are for... I can't imagine how you hear music clearly from from the fairing speakers at 100kph with a helmet on.. Plus it might annoy others in slow traffic areas ..
Interesting perspective on the Road Glide. My personal Opinion: 04-up sportster, early model Dyna, new softails all feel similar weight to each other. Now, on paper the new softail is quite a bit heavier then the first two I just mentioned, but the weight balance is just so damn good it feels lighter and more nimble then I ever expected. The Sporty and Dyna get a bit top heavy and twitchy at low speeds especially with jacked up suspensions. New model dyna feels heavy, especially the jacked up ones like the Low rider S. I'd almost say that it's closer to the RG feel wise. Regardless of that I'd say any touring bike I've ridden feels noticeably heavier to me. Especially in tight twisties, it takes a lot to go from full lean in one direction to the other. That scenario specifically is where the Sportster is king, overall handling I'd give to the Low rider S/ST personally.
I don't think the guys here are interested in Sportsters, unfortunately! I've often wanted to find out more about the Sportster, but I've never received any feedback!
@mrks_motorcyclist it's a shame because for the type of riding they like to do a properly kitted Sportster would do as good/better of a job in alot of cases. I think you can do it for less money too. All the parts, especially engine parts, are a bit cheaper than big twin stuff. But hey, to each their own they have some slick rides! What Sportster model do you have?
@@AllAmericanAutomotive I have an Iron XL 883 N from 2019 with an S&S 1200 Hooligan kit, some parts from Biltwell and from the company HeinzBikes from Germany. I would love to get some good parts from Thrashin, but there's nothing for me here! I would like to get a adjustable brake pedal or clutch for the Sportster... GUYS!
@@AllAmericanAutomotive No way... that sucks... shame on you thrashin! You are losing customers, that can't be your interest! Buy a Sportster, it's not expensive and makes parts! I know you read it... so let's go!
Juan, if you did not have a dyna, and only had one bike, which would you choose? I wonder if the ST is sort of a “compromise” bike that could be both a daily commuter and a tourer?
The comparison started off wrong with pricing because it does not factor in that the Low Rider ST comes equipped with ABS standard plus its freight and surcharge combined are $400 less than the Road Glide. I chose the Low Rider ST for many reasons, first was the wind protection stock was better, the suspension was so much better it wasn't fair, and then I saved all that weight. Handling was crisper and just as stable. Losing the radio? No problem, the radio on the Road Glide was useless at highway speeds. As for the five gallon tank, that is still more than three hours at highway speeds and I must be getting old because I don't mind taking a break on that interval. Realistically they both are nearly equal in range when you run it out, there might be a twenty mile difference to empty. Oddly my Low Rider has been doing more than fifty miles per gallon which caught me off guard. Both are fun bikes but face it, the tour line has been without serious update for six years and only now is getting an update in 2024. Harley pushed aside all updates on them to focus on Revolution Max bikes. Final note, when it came to making both bikes ready for the long haul I had to automatically price in a new rear suspension on the Glide. No choice, they ride horribly compared to the Softails.
I’ve watched so many videos and just said fuck it because there is no pertinent information. But these dudes give real life riding scenarios which is extremely useful.
Just to let you know the tank is a 5gal tank, once u ride and u have no bars left that means u have a full gallon left thats prolly why when up fill up its never over 4 gallons. this my only bike so i had time to figure it out haha. i get 200 miles easy from a tank when its all freeway.
Out of the box....if you are cruising and a laid back, not a very aggressive rider the RoadGlide is the way to go....but if you are an aggressive rider, wanting to always hit it, aggressive in the turns the LRS is absolutely the way to go. You can make the RG super aggressive but it costs a LOT MORE to make a RG a performance type canyon bike than it does to make the LRS a comfy touring bike IMHO... (considering I have dumped probably 15 grand into an RGS making it more like what I want) If the LRS had top opening bags it wouldnt even be a question which one I would want. Even getting the RG where its comfortable you are looking at significant cost increase when you are adding bars, windshield, stage 1, compared to the LRS, where you can keep the stock bars if you needed and it has less that I would say need to be immediately changed right out of hte box.
I’m running thrashin high bends with boosted Brad 8” risers. Bars still feel too far forward? I’m even running the SDC Saddlemen with adjustable backrest. Any advice?
I am in love with my ST with a lot of thrashin supply stuff (floorboards risers mid bend bar etc...) When you need GPS it.s easy too put your Phone on a ram mount and it's simple to pair your Phone with your helmet too... So ..LOW RIDER ST RULES ! 🤣
yeah these are my two choices but im stuck, im 6 ft 2, my chick would be passenger often and i live in the mountains full of twisties, what would you guys recommend for a taller dude
RG all day. Especially with a passenger. Im 6’3 with 10 inch riser 14.5 total with bars. Hands are straight out. Its comfortable for us taller guys. Saddlemen extended reach seat and you’re golden.
If you want the lightest touring bike get the street glide. It’s 20-30 pounds lighter. You can feel it when picking it up off the kickstand. No matter what bike you get, you get use to the weight very quickly. I’ve ridden both the road glide and street glide, I prefer the street glide. There is a bike out there for everyone!
I disagree about getting used to the weight. Over time, I found that the weight becomes oppressive. At the end of a riding day, fighting the extra weight of the Bagger takes an inexorable toll.
I have a 21 Harley ultra and was going to trade for a low rider st I don't go crazy on miles but I do ride 2 up a lot so I'm guessing the low rider st would not be the bike to get.

Lance , Juan, great review. 👍
Have them both, 2020RGS/131& 2020LRS/117. Thank you Harley. Looking at your bikes have you ceramic coated those bikes? I'm in Ontario CA do you have a guy? Thanks you guys are awesome.
Juan you should look at getting a Star Racing 30-30 cam it will wake your RG up really nice. I have one in my 114 Street Glide and love it. 👍🇦🇺
Well done video, great job.
What I don´t like about the Low Rider is the vibration on the bars above 120 km/h. Y have a Road Glide 2018 and a Low Rider ST 2023.
I would have loved to have seen a 3-way comparison by including the Street Glide ST in the mix :)
Great review, agree on all LRST points, but loving the bike, other than that silly headlight ring design and my bars look slightly offcenter/twisted?? Others noticing the same.
That's interesting. The bars on my LRST look twisted too.
Very informative and insightful. This helps, thank you Thrashin Supply. Now i just need to decide between Street Glide or Road Glide, ST or Standard for my second bike…🤔
Nice content. For Juan, the 475C cam from S&S and a TTS Master tune on the Dyno. You will be passing with no problem.
I have had both! The road glide is much better! The ST is just hype
That's what Cardo helmet comms are for... I can't imagine how you hear music clearly from from the fairing speakers at 100kph with a helmet on..
Plus it might annoy others in slow traffic areas ..
Great vlog I really enjoyed something a little different!
Interesting perspective on the Road Glide. My personal Opinion:
04-up sportster, early model Dyna, new softails all feel similar weight to each other.
GUYS!
@@mrks_motorcyclist yup. They used to have a gorgeous 2-1 they discontinued. Very sad
@@AllAmericanAutomotive No way... that sucks... shame on you thrashin! You are losing customers, that can't be your interest! Buy a Sportster, it's not expensive and makes parts! I know you read it... so let's go!
Cool stuff. I am looking to find some vintage bikes to work on though.
Juan, if you did not have a dyna, and only had one bike, which would you choose? I wonder if the ST is sort of a “compromise” bike that could be both a daily commuter and a tourer?
Video isn’t complete unless Juan says “See ya later.” ✌️
How tall is Juan ? Is the bike stock height ? How’s the legend suspension ?
Where are you finding those prices every Dealer around me is charging close to 10k over for those bikes
We compared at MSRP… that doesn’t include dealer mark ups or taxes or registration… so it’s not otd, it’s msrp 👍🏻
I got the same bike and i love it . way better than the 09 fxds
Also side note, Juan, what did you use for cable management around your control wires, from your risers to inside the fairing?
Check out our install video 👍🏻 th-cam.com/video/sh1vGAMGDhc/w-d-xo.html
I’ve watched so many videos and just said fuck it because there is no pertinent information. But these dudes give real life riding scenarios which is extremely useful.
What’s that air cleaner on the ST?
Where can I get the RG for 21k ?
Thanks 🙏
I’m running thrashin high bends with boosted Brad 8” risers. Bars still feel too far forward? I’m even running the SDC Saddlemen with adjustable backrest. Any advice?
Are your risers Pull Back? Also the higher you go, the closer it gets to you!
Great Vlog!
My 15 streetglide only gets maybe 200 miles per tank, thenot again it has an S&Supply 124 with around 145 a piece to the wheel and Ohlins suspension
Pretty helpful. Probs gonna keep my Dyna and buy a bagger for the longer hauls. Thanks for the Black Friday deals as well! Got my 20% off!🤘🏻
9:30 that's what a quad lock is for.
107 with torque cam is awesome… 128 is even better. As far as the info stuff, a phone mount and cardo handles all of that.
I have a street glide and a fxlrs ...I'll say I'd sell the fxlrs before the street glide.
Hopefully never lose the street glide.
Thrashin bars n risers on any bagger🤘🛵🇺🇸
🔥 🔥 stuff dudes !!
How about suspension?
I am in love with my ST with a lot of thrashin supply stuff (floorboards risers mid bend bar etc...)
When you need GPS it.s easy too put your Phone on a ram mount and it's simple to pair your Phone with your helmet too...
