Back before most of that road slid off the side of the hill we used to spot quite a few in our old jeep while out that way also there are big horn sheep in that area.
That appears to be a real 1966 GTO. The way to tell is by the VIN which would be something like this: 2 for Pontiac, 42 for GTO, 17 for two door hardtop coupe or 37 for two door sport coupe, 6 for 1966 model year, then a plant assembly code such as Z for Fremont, CA assembly (likely as you're in CA. that plant closed in 1982), or B for Baltimore, MD assembly (that plant closed in 2005), or A for Atlanta, GA (Lakewood Heights, closed 1990), or P for Pontiac, MI assembly (closed in 1988), R for Arlington, TX (still operates today, assembles SUVs), G for Framingham, MA assembly (closed in 1989), or K for Kansas City, MO (Leeds, closed in 1988) and the rest is the production sequence. No VIN, can't win. Yes, those are factory tail lights and "covers". Yes, the VIN is on the driver's door post which you'd have to get the door open to see. Also, the trim tag (which still appears to be there) would give some clues: 66 for 1966 model year, 24217 for Pontiac (2) GTO (42) hardtop (17) or 24237 for Pontiac (2) GTO (42) two door sport coupe hardtop (37), then one of the letter codes above for the assembly plant, a two digit month and letter code (e.g. 12A for the first week of December production) for a time/built code, then a paint code such as W for Platinum exterior paint (which this appears it might have originally been), interior code is not known without the tag, and then there's some option codes. The trim tag (you were close to putting it in frame) would have told us a lot.
Stolen Charger, Scat Pack widebody. When they are stripped that carefully, it usually means that the crooks saved the parts, then took the car to a place where it would be found and towed, and brought to the insurance salvage auction. then they buy it, put all the parts back on, and ship it overseas somewhere where they don't care about a branded title. Some very dangerous people involved in this scenario, Best to keep a distance when you run into those. The GTO is a '66, 6.5 is the 389, likely a Tri-Power induction setup. Painful to see how nice those floors are, just totally rust free. Surprising that those emblems and taillights (GTO specific) are still in place. It would be primo yard art.
In this case I doubt that. They cut wiring for the doors etc. These parts are going to get swapped into a 6cyl version or drivetrain end up in something else. I do find it odd they didn't take the wheels and brakes though.
So that's what most of these "used" Chargers that are technically new are going through before reaching Iraqi streets, huh? I was thinking that there are too many Chargers and Hellcats around lately without any official dealerships in the country. 😂

1966 GTO. Looks like the ID tag is there still. It's on the driver's side under the hood on the firewall. When deciphered it will tell you the paint colors, upholstery, engine options, transmission, rear end, and other special options. Parts are still good on that car: chrome the rear bumper, taillight section, possibly the entire rear section of the car. It would be a cool instalation piece in a art space as long as you got all that huge boulder as part of it. All the power train is gone.
To me, it looks like the data plate on the firewall is gone. You can see a faint outline of where it was, but the actual tag itself is gone. Who knows if the VIN plate in the driver door jamb is still there. Agree there is some usable trim remaining on the car.

Did you see what mileage the GTO had….seemed to have its clocks still in the dash, also what did the sticker under the trunk lid say….fantastic find…..is there a way to get it out of there?
I think if you had a helicopter or a really expensive tow truck. The sticker on GTO was talking about the jack in the trunk. Never looked at the mileage..

Boy what a sad ending for such beautiful piece of automotive history!!🥹 the first one was a 1997-98 Dodge Ram 2500Hd Cummins Diesel! The last one looks like a 1996 Lexus Es300. Great find’s!
TAKE IT!! It’s definitely 💯 repairable 👨🔧. Ya look 👀 so interested in this truck 🛻. Repairs 👨🔧 may be very expensive (and extensive), but it seems as if sentimental value has set in since ya have been down here. A very heavy duty tow truck 🛻 (to pull semi’s, and buses 🚌) would be able to pull this back 🆙 the cliff. Again, like 👍 my one favorite classic car 🚗 show says, “Almost anything is repairable, but at what cost”? I’d grab this truck 🛻 before somebody else does. And ya can probably find all the parts at the junkyard. The body shop can straighten the frame 🖼️, pound out all the dents, and fix all the bullet holes 🕳️. Your friend, Jeff.

Those taillights and badges are worth something to someone..My brother had a GTO that year with the same taillights that came factory for the car..I'm trying to remember if it's a 66 or 67 cause both were similar except for the taillights and maybe the front parklights was different from a 66 and a 67..The trunk lid could be fixed if someone needed 1 bad enough cause I'm pretty sure that OEM parts are still available for the car but most people want date correct parts when restoring a vehicle like that particular car..
If you have a used RAM that dates before 2009, you might still have the “Dodge RAM” emblem. The company dropped the “Dodge” in 2009, so all trucks made from this date forward were simply “RAM trucks”. And though Dodge and RAM are still part of the same company, the trucks are labeled solely as RAM.

It’s a 2012 v6 but I like it honestly… It’s been bulletproof honestly! It has 326k.. I like how convenient they are! I always use mine as a dressing room because I’m always filming in the outdoors and I try to avoid ticks as much as possible… I found over 4 ticks in the last 6 months crawling on my clothes but none ever got in my skin…
@@reverserockettv007 the v6 hasn’t had any major problems. I carry about 2000 pounds on the back and let me tell you … it’s under powered for any kind of really work. It would make an awesome mini camper though! Glad it works for you 👍🏼👍🏼
@downlowgo_401 I agree it’s underpowered!! 👍👍
The sticker in the trunk is the jacking instruction decal.
Man. it still has the speedo I would have checked the mileage !
I certainly hope when you are out in the desolate areas you have someone to protect yourself if you would need it!
Thanks for the concern!
The Ram truckhad Jake Brake's,Its a compression release engine brake
Aw ok!
What ever became of that Charger?? Did you report it??
I told my friend about it and he went to go look at it and it was gone. I believe it got recovered..
@@reverserockettv007 oh cool wild to think they left those wheels, tires and calipers on there still
I’m thinking they dumped that car there the night before! I couldn’t believe it!
Those tail light bezels need to be saved!
I agree!
What is the mileage of this white one???????/
I never looked… You talking about the diesel?
Get whole truck out and fix it up
I would like to have that gto
Man what Sad site to see! That’s definitely a stolen 2020 scatpack Dodge Charger! Wow! That’s definitely a 66-67 Pontiac gto! Boy what a sad ending for such beautiful piece of automotive history!!🥹 the first one was a 1997-98 Dodge Ram 2500Hd Cummins Diesel! The last one looks like a 1996 Lexus Es300. Great find’s!
Yea I was thinking the same thing! I would love to have that diesel and GTO!
66 gto
@@terrencegiordan2775 Correct, 1967 had a different taillight treatment. This is a 1966 GTO.
What a cool find, a gto down a canyon. Your videos are so awsome, thanks and keep up the good work. 🥰
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the kind words!!
That's a 1966 Pontiac GTO
Dude that was a very desirable diesel.
Yea it is!
Great video that G.T.O as is would still sell for $4k it 100% worth restoration. Thank for sharing
I agree with you! What a story it would be if someone pulled that car out and restored it!
What it still has that is worth something is the floor, would save a rusty Northern GTO.
True!
LOOKS LIKE SOME ONE GAVE UP ON THERE CAR ,, PINK SLIP TAKE IT ITS YOUR????
That’s what I was thinking!
392 super bee
🤔
Maybe they covered up something below the hole
It’s possible!
Finders keepers right ? id be taken the charger home with me ,heaps of good parts left nice wheels nice brakes ,diff .
Exactly! Build it back up! Naw that thing was as hot as a tamale!
The sooner dodge quits making that 💩 & its challenger cousin the better society will be. Im sure they pay a gas guzzler tax having scat pack & all that b.s in california😁
@willc5512 That was a strange day!
And your buddy James is a Clamper. Satisfactory. Thanks for sharing.
Yes he is! Thanks for commenting!
1967 Pontiac gto!
What sucks the most is this car was not all rusted out
Yea I agree!
I love all the content and you keep rocking man
Thanks!
I love the nature up here!
Thanks! Very peaceful and beautiful!
This place Is CRAZY!
This truck 🛻 probably went off Hwy 173, a LONG time ago. Your friend, Jeff.
If you say " Im really not sure " 1 more time G-T-O or no G-T-O im goin to be out of here. Most of the time just say it. " I have no idea " sorry pet pieve.😊
Deer poop
Dodge scat pack
Those markers may be snow depth markers
Good point!
Amazing to find a GTO
I agree! It was totally unexpected as well!
I was told there is a vehicle he could see from google earth. So went for it…
Shit…I’d tow that Hellcat outta there lol. Wheels, calipers, dash, rear end, trunk lid, all $$$
Whoever stole it was clearly amateur lmao
🤭🤭🤭
should of got the Pontiac GTO Emblems its been there for 40 years
I love when you do videos like this!!!!
Thanks! I try to do about 2 a week.
Man that dodge ram
I know!
It was a fun day!
A Ram right by a Ram. One real one fictional.
I don’t get it?
@@reverserockettv007 the dead Dodge truck is a Ram too. Dodge Ram 2500.
@@reverserockettv007 you stumbled across Ram feces right by the Ram truck.
Yes dude I,m sure that motor can be rebuilt, as long as the block does not have a hole in its side.Someone stole the parts while it sat there.
Your right!
They took the head because the whole motor weighs 1150lbs😃
@willc5512 wow!!
Interesting! Thanks for the info!
