  • LDV MIFA is a nice enough people mover from LDV Australia, but is it real value for money? Let's find out...

    If you're not a car brand snob, LDV MIFA (Maxus MIFA 7) is an affordable people mover from SAIC owned Chinese car brand competing with Toyota Alphard, Hyundai Staria and Kia Carnival. But is it good enough to deserve your $50,000 AUD for the bottom of the range model, or should you save up a bit more cash and buy something more premium to drive your family around? 🤷‍♀️ Let's talk about it! 😎👌

    I looked at these at Tynans Kirrawee the other day ( awful dealership, couldnt get assistance )
    Very nice looking van that you can get driveway for 44k (23plate)
    They start getting very expensive when you go up through the variants.

      44k sounds pretty good and about right for now basic the van really is when you move away from the drivers instruments and the front panel, where the whole novelty really is. Yeah it's unfortunate how mediocre LDV dealerships are in Sydney - 5 dock is okay in my view, the others are just sad.

    Van looks ok for transport lots of kids around the city if I had to buy a car for around that price I would go for a Kia sportage diesel

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would go for KIA Carnival in the bottom of the range - also around $50k but higher quality. Personal opinion.

    I really appreciate your Chanel, good that you changed your Chanel name. Now you can go long way. I remember once I suggested you to change. It's good and well balance name. Good luck 👍

    It is really hard to objectively assess the LDV brand performance. Instinctively, there is a perception of price vs quality, but we are conditioned to think that to justify paying more for other brands. Need some hard data to really paint a clear picture. Time for a Dmitry spreadsheet video 😂😂😂

    Great review 😊
    But for the Chinese people movers to break into the established market already dominated by kia carnival. I personally think they need to come up with something else like a higher body panel and clearance and about $5k lower. Doesn't need to be 4x4 like the delica. Otherwise, people will compare it to carnival and odyssey or imported toyota people movers.
    And ability to remove the 3rd row, so its a van or ute or people mover combined in one car 😅

      @ValueCarsAU  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I completely, 100% agree mate. KIA is dominating hard. Bottom of the range Carnival beats MIFA into a pulp on most elements including design, while not being much more expensive. LDV needs to either raise the bar or lower the price range. Thanks for your comment.

    One big problem with LDV is their distribution arrangement in Australia. They use ATECO, so customer, support, parts and honouring warranty is not good. MG and Haval are factory direct in comparison.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I know mate, and yes - it's a plague. But the entry prices - at least on their cargo vans are SO low that even knowing that you're getting into bed with the Devil it's still hard to ignore how attractive their proposition is. No? 😉

    • @GlowingTube
      @GlowingTube 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have to agree, still tempting. I wish LDV just went direct.

    This vehicle was jointly developed by SAIC Motor for the Chinese market as the new generation Buick GL8, alongside the Australian market. The previous generation GL8 performed poorly in the China Insurance Automotive Safety Index (C-IASI) crash tests, leading to structural enhancements in the new generation. The latest Buick GL8 has achieved excellent results in the C-IASI crash tests, securing a 'good' rating across all safety metrics, which is quite rare for an MPV. The C-IASI crash testing standards are aligned with those of the American IIHS, and it's observed that Japanese MPVs generally fall short in safety performance when compared to tests conducted in both China and the USA.
    However, as someone born in China, I find that this vehicle is priced too high in Australia. Even though its safety performance may rank among the top in the Australian MPV market, the export model branded under LDV significantly lacks the luxury feel of the Buick GL8. Furthermore, the LDV brand does not enjoy a good reputation in the Chinese market.

      Completely agree mate, and appreciate your insights as always. While I have you - any insights on LDV G10 Van? Is it visible or known at all on the local Chinese market? How is it rated for reliability etc? Email me on gamedale@gmail.com if you have insights or want to have an little interview. I'll need to be able to identify you though, as the number of trolls that email me is astounding.

    Already have an Executive one. Totally very nice looking car and feel like an Alphard but half price. Plenty space with many exciting things to find out, including feet sensors automatic tail gate that I have just accidentally found out yesterday. Nice engine sound and comfortable driving experience. Besides many good points, it has annoying things as well. it's pretty hard to control the accelerator at low speed, poor stereo sound, crazy lane allert sound and annoying bugs in touch screen control like other Chinese cars.

      @@ValueCarsAU Kia Carnival sounds more reliable but it's interior looks so cheap even the top one (platinum). I did a lot of research between these 2 cars and, finally Lucky me! The price went down for $10k since no one bought it and they had to do a stock clearance.
