      It would have global implications:
*UK, Canada, Australia, NZ would oppose the secession and support the Union.
*France, Germany and most EU Nations would support the Union.
*Ireland, Hungary would support the CSA.
*Mexican states bordering Texas would support the CSA.
*China would remain neutral however they would exploit the situation by invading Taiwan.
*Russia would remain neutral due to their ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The US would no longer be able to properly intervene in global affairs since the CSA would always support the opposing side.

There's still lots of cotton, soy, corn and so on that still grows out there but now Mexicans work the land (bc my Mexican husband does, the boss to one of those farms out there is the descendant of plantation owners and still has the business running. Says on the sign Bear something farm Est. 1800& something. ) it pretty out there but also kind of creepy) and lots of black people out there which isn't very common in rural settings except where plantations existed. Also the Toltec mounds are out there. It's very beautiful.

There were two 'superhighways' of the 19th century U.S. An independent Confederacy would cut off the north-south Mississippi River (preventing inland access to the Gulf of Mexico) and if Missouri had joined the CSA, cut off the east-west transcontinental railroad (under construction during the war).
If the CSA had succeeded in remaining independent and successfully fractured these highways, California would likely be its own country, encompassing the territories of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. The Union would have a long border to guard and would be more European oriented in terms of cultural influence and foreign relations. Midwest and Mountain states could have been divided amongst these three powers, or become independent, landlocked countries.

You can go ahead and put the majority of the Midwest guys in with the southern states on this one. If they were to break off it would most likely to avoid the socialists that are trying to run the country. Now, the majority of the military is also conservatives and to think they would fire on their people is just off. Now some of those “hicks with no teeth” are also former military. So they teach their kids how to hunt fish and track and live off the land. Not to mention they’re fighting on their on land. And the countless militias that are spread across the south that are also former military. Even if the military wasn’t on the side of the south. You should’ve gone over the revolutionary war in history class. And at the time Americans were just a bunch of drunk trigger happy farmers so just think about it chief.

And conservatism is nowhere near the government styles of the Confederacy. If you have ever read any literature on governmental systems in the confederacy, you will realize that the reason they lost the war was to poor government enforcement in states, very little taxation, and a stand still economy. The sad truth for you libertarians is, government will and will always have to have a role in your lives. The thing is if the csa were to return today i assume some other states would be more willing to join it than stay as a part of the United States, states like Oklahoma, Kentucky and West Virginia, due to a cultural similarity closer to the CSA states than the USA states. Also, a lot of people don't like the US so if this were to happen, lots of other countries (Most notably China and Russia) would support the CSA just to significantly weaken the United States, which fixes the most crucial issue that the Confederacy of the 19th century had, which was the lack of allies. If CSA were to return today, i can't say with certainty who'd win that war, but it would be bloody and weaken both countries immensely

    • @chickenofthecave1406

If the Confederacy were to win by the skin of their teeth, Mexico could probably swoop in and take back some of the states it lost. A prepped Confederacy might be able to take on Mexico but a weakened Confederacy that just barely endured a war with the Union and hasn't had time to recover would be ripe for the picking.

I don't think it would end up being a world war. Russia and China would happily but quietly contribute resources but they would not want to put boots on the ground. No one would want to openly get involved as an ally of the CSA, at least initially.
Also, I think it would be more likely that China supports the USA. They would have a vested interest in a fast war that didn't overly disrupt their US investments and that left the west coast untouched.
However, I feel like the question asked by the video is inaccurate. If a modern civil war were to occur, much of the midwest would go with the new CSA. It's very possible that only the northeast from Maryland up and the west coast out to Colorado end up being part of the USA at first. There would also be a great deal of internal resistance - Austin and Atlanta would not go quietly into a CSA and rural Maryland would absolutely want to go with the CSA while the beltway would resist.

    • @AvecadoHD
      @AvecadoHD 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I agree, unlike in 1861 when the civil war was just a domestic issue it would be a world issue today and much like the Korean and Vietnam war, other countries may not officially join but would most certainly send supplies and volunteers to which every country fit their interest. Also due to the matter of nuclear weapons, this would be a major issue to the rest of the world, as either the union or confederacy get to use them against each other.

Well since it is more rural vs urban in this day and age the southerners would want a confederacy with a view exceptions the rhetoric of the federal government is too much for many especially since they trample on the rights of the people and divide us by favoring some over others. Puff 'n' sting enthusiast it said that Kansas was entered as a free state by the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The act said they let the citizens decide if their state would allow slavery or not I studied that I’m sorry you don’t that’s what it said on my Social Studies If the Confederacy reunited today Kansas will stay with the United States

If there were another war i believe it would be conservative vs liberal rather than north vs south. With that said most southern states would be on the conservative side along with several midwestern rural states. Which means the conservatives would control much of the food and oil production.

Except that mexico would likely side with the liberals and that Russia (nice ally there) would likely side with the conservatives given that you two think so much alike. So yes, the liberal side would have food and guns

Xmane310 Funny thing is, who gets decide what is a liberal? I hear that term applied to anyone that some bible thumper doesn't like.
And let's be honest, both sides love big government, so why would I want to live in a nation controlled by either?

More importantly, the CSA would control New Orleans and the Mississippi River! This is of huge strategic and geopolitical importance with regard to supplying oil and just about everything else to the US heartland.

You assume the military and their leadership would side according to location. It would be more conservative and liberal taking sides. That’s a totally different scenario.

PMO the Podcast the California National Guard would be destroyed by street gangs. While they hid in their safe space. It would be confederate states. It would be red states and even red counties in blue states.

There would probably be confederate states that would side with the union as well. Florida, Tennessee, and Texas's governers have a very different view of governmental role than the confederacy. And I think you have mistaken just how terrible the government of the confederacy was. The government was so small, it couldn't pass any taxation to feed their soldiers, let alone build road, infrastructure, and let alone there terrible, stand-still economy lmao. No rational politician would side with a government similar to the confederacy.
