If the CyberTruck was an armored personnel carrier, then the Hummer EV is a battering ram. A bunch of people at GM definitely said “why not” when asked “why”
I hate how that's unironically a feature now. But I love that it's creeping back slowly to the market. Don't get me wrong, the whole touch screen thing is cool, but I'd rather have the option to have a button as well, that I can physically push, you know... In case the stupid screen stops working.
@@Deja117 as far as I'm concerned, the only vehicles that can get away with no buttons are the ones that are actually trying to be as efficient as possible by cutting out as much weight as possible, Which to the best of my knowledge aptera is the only EV doing this, and then I believe it was Volkswagen did that hybrid thing a while ago that they only sold about a hundred of? (I don't know if it was Volkswagen specifically, but it was one of those)

4.2 tonnes means it's not covered by most UK driving licences. If you passed after 1997, a standard class B car licence is limited to 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight, and you'll need to get a class C licence which covers you for up to 7.5 tonnes. Can't see them selling many over here if it ever gets a UK release.
Same here in the Netherlands, Here, its also 3,5 tonnes of total weight. This means if you get a vehicle that is 3,3 tonnes, you can at best take another human and maybe a rucksack but thats about it. The netherlands was looking into extending the weightlimit on drivinglicenses based on EV weight, so I think they were moving it up to 4.2 tonnes. But our DMV (RDW) will likely still require you to get a C-drivers license for a behemoth like this based on its size and capabilities alone.

I agree, they did an amazing job designing and building the Hummer EV. They have a Documentary on TH-cam that is super interesting if you want to see the behind the scenes of the entire start to finish project, highly recommend. They built it essentially because everyone said it couldn't be done and it went against the typically ugly EV conscious type vehicles on the market at the time. I understand that it's a halo type vehicle and hence the high price point, but that's why it's not something I would consider. I love seeing them on the road and all the different colours that are available. They definitely have presence on the road and get peoples attention in a good way. I like the interior much better than anything that Telsa has put out to date, that's for sure. That being said, I really like the new 2025 GM Sierra Denali EV truck and they they are leading the EV truck segment currently, even though I'm a Ford guy at heart. The technology is still changing and improving rapidly year over year which is pretty exciting. Just bought an F150 Powerboost hybrid, which is the best of both worlds, but I'll be seriously considering a pure EV truck come the end of 2027 when I'm in the market again.
Love you too Alex & Bell lmao XD. thanks for such a hilarious review. There is just something about the Hummers that have always had me grin more so 1, 2 and the Ev... the 3 was way too "Suburbanized" if I had the $ I'd want one in a heartbeat. especially as someone partly disabled being able to adjust ride height would be amazing. but I doubt I'll ever be able to experience such a ride let alone have enough to obtain one myself. still a gal can dream.
That is actually really impressive! If it were a touch smaller (I don't need that much space), and if it were able to charge a LOT faster (my only complaint with EVs right now), I'd be definitely into it. I LOVE the physical buttons - that alone almost sold me. I think GM learned from the failure that is the new Blazer - they definitely decided to compete with similar competition - although I still see IFS (maybe IRS?).
Easy to park? I doubt there are many parking spaces in southern Europe where this thing actually fits between the lines. I‘ve driven a H2 in Switzerland, Italy and Spain and that was already… interesting.
I am somehow glad, nobody with a regular drivers license will be able to drive this in germany. You will need a truck license for that, with that much weight.
Yeah, and also that Cybertruck had been destroyed before that from dropping it on those concrete tubes and they know it. Imho this cheap shot was completely unnecessary and instantly tells their bias, and that's a darn shame.
Because the Ford didn't fall off the obstacle course and break the trailer hitch - it got stuck instead 😉 The hitch was broken before the towing even started ..
I gotta be honest. At 47 MPGe, the Hummer EV has somehow managed to be less efficient than many gas cars. Heck. My 2015 Focus can get eek out 44 MPG on two lane highways by doing 55 mph and big toeing the accelerator. Just think about that for a minute.
I got to test drive one of these at the Toronto International Auto Show! It was a very fun experience, I have never driven something so gargantuan (Or expensive) before. Turning it was uncanny, since it manoeuvred like the other cars at the test drive area, despite being like 3 times the size. 4 wheel steering is cool!
Moment at 10:40 was planned or just happened at same time that 2 Hummers are on road but from different eras. And jezz, this new Hummer EV is Huge AF for European roads
its a great looking bohemoth. love tthe physical buttons for aircon. so much nicer to reach downand feel a button without lookingand know what your pressing. i would never need such a monster machine but its cool.
It's so funny, that a huge pick up truck feels more cramped inside than a Suzuki Soleo. I understand that these are different types of vehicles, but I can't keep noticing it
I find this is a common theme among a lot of bigger trucks and SUV's. They're not actually all that big inside compared to their massive chonk everywhere else. They're just massive everywhere else because they're so heavy and they need to be able to roll over and not crush you with the roof collapsing. At best they're just a little deeper so you end up feeling lower down than you actually are.
@@TalesOfWar so people worldwide are paying for bigger, less safe cars, that need so much safety they end up being less comfortable? And some manufacturers stopped making sedans and affordable 2 door cars for that? damn
@@furinick The rise of massive SUV's and trucks is because in the US the tax is lower on them, so you can sell a big ass truck for slightly more than a sedan but have a much higher profit margin. They have different efficiency requirements too. The bigger and heavier they are the easier it is to get within the regulations, which is dumb. They need federal level standards and they need to close these silly loopholes. They're also becoming more and more common because car manufacturers just simply aren't making and selling much of anything else. They even make a monster sized Aygo now which is utterly insane. You really have to go out of your way to find something more reasonably sized, or buy second hand from when they weren't all obnoxiously huge. It's like a few years ago when TV makers were saying everyone wants 3D TV's because that's mostly what they buy, ignoring the bit where they made hardly any without the 3D feature so the only thing you can get with a newer panel was 3D, or now with "smart" TV's. You can't really buy a dumb TV any more that's just a good panel with a bunch of HDMI inputs unless you just buy a monitor, which don't come in living room sizes. So they come to conclusion that people really only want smart TV's.
I had so many problems with my hummer EV it broke down 8 times from brand new in less than a year. I finally got lemon law kick in was a nightmare no thanks.
You said it yourself: your particular vehicle was a lemon. And therefore, your experience/vehicle is an anomaly. I would love to own a GMC Hummer SUV (non-lemon edition, of course 😉).
Concrete strength is rated in psi what are you talking about? The 9000lbs would be spread over the 4 tires and then their respective contact patch and from the quick google driveways are typically done in 3000 psi concrete pretty sure this isn't going to sink regardless. Now paved asphalt in a hot climate I could see over time it causing ruts and sinking but not concrete.
So this requires special licensing to operate it, right? It's as heavy as some dump trucks that requires a CDL. If any idiot with money can buy it with no additional skill, well i guess my chances of being run over by one just went up. But hey, cool crab walk feature
In the US, our base license limits you to 26000 pounds, like 12 tonnes, so no this is like 1/3 of the legal limit. You couldn't even max out the legal limit towing the car's maximum.

On top of that, the sheer amount of _technology_ this thing is packed with is just bonkers; I see the Hummer EV as basically the most balls-to-the-wall, excess-minded technical showcase of what an EV can be. It's a halo product, and I think it absolutely deserves respect in both getting people more interested in EVs and showing off their potential. This boy is an _ambassador_ for EVs. Yes, the *Hummer.* An ambassador for EVs. Chew on that for a while.
5:17 that’s not ground clearance
It’s implied ground clearance.
Seriously.Thirty inch tires is nothing for an off Road vehicle. Even Thirty five inch Tires feel small on most trails in the usa.
@@BroccoliFugitive30in is fine for off road, it’s it’s not rock climbing 🤦🏻♂️
Would have loved to see this review closer to the Hummer EV's launch and get more traction! Hope you guys continue to explore car media and find success!
Congrats, Alex! All Hummer EVs come with complementary US citizenship!
cool to see your guys review on this, i actually work at the battery plant where the batteries for those are made. its an interesting process but crazy to think how many are in that when you know how big each cell is lol
I feel like good quality car makers wouldnt use hard to clean/maintain paint jobs 😃
Imagine being the team working hard on the sound inside the car and then you find out upper mannagement just slapped an aliexpress soundbar on the back.
I could easily run my homes ALL electric devices for whole month with that battery pack's 248kWh capacity and still have excess. And I mean ALL the electricity.
I'm gonna say something that will make you not see the crab walk scenes the same anymore.
Hummer crab walk mode is how we drive in racing games
You can't safely charge 250kwh battery 🤷🤦
I mean Even a level 2 charger at 7kwh would take close to 36 hours it was not designed for this madness a DC 50kwh charger would take around 6 hours 😳
The charger will be screaming Help 🥵😩
Haven seen the e hummer for a long while and did not expect it on LTT but i love you hot to review that thing 😂
16:08 dawww
A a friend 😂
Keep up the car content I am sure some one at LMG is debating if its worth it. Maybe not now but this series will pop off if you guys keep it up.
Alex laughing maniacally about how the truck *literally tries to kill you* when doing pulls, WHILE doing pulls, is exactly why we love him.
"What else are you going to buy?"
I dunno, a house? 😂
Thats a lot of e-waste
If you got some bad friends, they are guaranteed to run off with your roof. "Where's my ROOF!!!"
No 230v is missed opportunity.
probably it's illegal to drive it in Europe because of the weight or something, so maybe that's why?
@@vandalpaulius would have to have C category driver's license, but 🇪🇺 is already modifying law to allow heavier EVs to be driven with B category (under 3500kgs).

I’ve never seen Alex so excited before. I love this thing. If I had that much money, I’d buy one. And Gms infotainment systems are one of the best on the market in my experience
That's going to be banned in the EU 😂 Holy crap. You can hide 5 families in that front blind spot 😂
I mean... or you can go 0-60 in 3.0 seconds with a similar tow capacity and get a Rivian R1T for >50k USD less. (and likely better tech)
He's wearing an "Edison Motors" hat!!!
Alex is very good at car videos, in fact he is getting better and better.
Nothing says "I peaked in high school" quite like a Hummer
Yeah, I never got a hummer in high school either. :(
Some kids at the local private high school drive these. Beats a bike, I'd guess.
I'm glad someone recognized the silliness of this vehicle. It's kind of like the opposite of a Lambo. You buy this vehicle to have some fun with it.
I am somehow glad, nobody with a regular drivers license will be able to drive this in germany. You will need a truck license for that, with that much weight.
An option package that costs more than my brand-new WRX did. Absolutely insane.
15:18 a toyota land cruiser with a trailer and a boat
Yeah, and also that Cybertruck had been destroyed before that from dropping it on those concrete tubes and they know it. Imho this cheap shot was completely unnecessary and instantly tells their bias, and that's a darn shame.
Crabwalk is useful when you end up too close to something on the side, where if you were only to turn the front wheels the rear corner would scrape.
Try the Cyberbeast, you'll love it too! And the trailer hitch won't fall off unless you break it first in a fall, like in the video you referred to 😉
How come the ford one didn't break then? Lol
Because the Ford didn't fall off the obstacle course and break the trailer hitch - it got stuck instead 😉
The hitch was broken before the towing even started ..
Gotta say I loved watching this review. Reminds me of the fun reviews I used to watch back in the day on Top Gear.
I gotta be honest. At 47 MPGe, the Hummer EV has somehow managed to be less efficient than many gas cars. Heck. My 2015 Focus can get eek out 44 MPG on two lane highways by doing 55 mph and big toeing the accelerator. Just think about that for a minute.
is your focus more than 4 tons tho ? dont think so
@@stratos59 No. But ironically, it does have a better sound system.
This car is the epitome of american car large, cool, and way too much, and I love it
honestly, massive respect for those physical controls
so one Hummer Ev or 3 Ioniq 6 N's???? i choose you Hunydai
the Canadian accent really shining through on this one, I love when he says paerk and chaerge
The Hummer EV is seriously impressive. The crab walk looks cool too
Glad you're having fun with it. A lot of car reviewers take themselves too seriously, which doesn't really work with something like this.
Better than a cybertruck
It's a pretty low bar to be fair lol.
It is unfortunately not selling as well as the cybertruck
@@albertojr.lorenzo2751 Probably because of its price, and often whenever you can actually get one it is marked up like crazy by the stealership.
Sick Edison hat!! I love that company, all the way from Los Angeles
Pro tip: 4" residential driveway concrete is rated for 8000lbs of working load, the hummer weighs over 9000 pounds.
I'm no engineer, but over what surface area? Cause you're dispersing that weight across 4 tires, right?
Concrete strength is rated in psi what are you talking about? The 9000lbs would be spread over the 4 tires and then their respective contact patch and from the quick google driveways are typically done in 3000 psi concrete pretty sure this isn't going to sink regardless. Now paved asphalt in a hot climate I could see over time it causing ruts and sinking but not concrete.
and everyone will pay the tax that fixes the roads this mosnter breats!
I appreciate how much of this video is dedicated to which options suck and are a waste of money.
