I can't believe hadn't heard of a horror comedy starting Joe Don Baker.
My grandfather went to highschool with him. Back when you knew everyone in your class. My grandpa handled all the reunion/homecoming stuff for his class, kept records on who had passes and kept updated contact info for everyone, who was going and whatnot.
Joe Don always kept in touch until my grandfathers death. They spoke a few times a year and my grandfather always thought highly of him, which from my perspective at least, really means something.

In all seriousness though, this is a very solid list of really dumb, but enjoyable films. Couple of more good ones of note that share the same Simon Sez DNA are Extreme Ops and Knock Off. Extreme Ops was one of the last tax shelter action movies that came out in the early 00’s and it’s actually fairly decent. Knock Off is a really good cheesy Van Damme flick that I actually enjoy more than Double Team, even though they both have the same director in Tsui Hark.

Every criticism for Simon Sez could be applied to most 90s movies. I've noticed that every decade has its own unique style in films. The 90s seem to add comical humour to everything. Even sequels to more darker serious 80s horror flicks.
And as far as enjoyable dumb movies go my personal favourite is Revenge of the killer tomatoes. I watched it recently for the first time in 30 years and didn't realise it had John Astin and George Clooney in it. And it's even more freaking hilarious than I remembered.

The 1990s were certainly a different time. I remember many movies being "just funny," like _Space Jam._ (Yes, _Space Jam_ is super stupid. Yes, I still love it.) Even the more serious ones tended to have a lot of levity. One of my all-time favorites is _Hot Shots: Part Deux._

Blues Brothers 2000 just came far too late for its own good. (Not to mention everyone who passed between that and the original film.) Beverly Hills Cop 3 on the other hand...painful.

I didn't knew of the spoof Wacko. I guess I was too used to parodies for Scream and The Ring. But a spoof for John Carpenter's Halloween and mostly 70s films? Damn!
Also, a movie called "The Stupids"? Is almost as surprising as finding the movie title "Don't F*ck in the woods", you just simply don't expect a movie with a title like that.

My favorite aspect from The Stupids is how Stanley confronts who he thinks is the villain stealing the trash and he's this sweet Mr Rogers-esque TV host.
I can't help but smile when he gives his big speech Charles Sender who thinks he's talking about directions.

And the band at the dance? Why didn't they get a metric sh*t-ton of work, just from the songs that were used in the film? Extremely slick and very well produced, and even now, I can still hear them playing as a best-of mash-up over the closing credits (and trust me when I say that that was a long time ago!).

I've been a fan of The Stupids for a long time, glad to see it featured and praised. Also, it features Landis' trademark of casting known directors in bizarre cameos, so film is full of serious arthouse staples: David Cronenberg, Costa-Gavras, Norman Jewison, Atom Egoyan, Robert Wise, Gillo Pontecorvo, Gurinder Chadha and Mick Garris are all in this.
