  • How to Planche Press to Handstand. Use strength instead of flexibility for the Handstand Press. I show drills for the Tuck Press to Handstand including Jumps, Eccentrics, Partial Range. Ideally you have a Tuck Planche, Tuck Handstand and a freestanding Hold but wall or spotter could be used if needed.

      @@PaulTwyman Actually, not many. It's mostly full/straddle planche press. This is the first on tuck planche press that I found.

    Great idea with the high cushion, I'm taking it! Getting this movement down will surely help me get to the adv tuck planche. Thanks for the reliably great content Paul 🙌

    Thanks for the idea to start with elevated legs! I think this is exactly what I need to get that range of motion at the top position. At the moment, I am unable to raise myself from the tuck planche position high enough to perform a handstand.

      @PaulTwyman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah higher start should help combined with slow eccentrics and strengthening the window of balance for your handstand

    Wow thank you so much, I needed this a lot.
    Been struggling hard with this movement forever, when I'm in the tuck planche it just feels like I'm completely blocked and there is absolutely no chance of pressing up, even when I was able to do a bad straddle planche. I will definitly try some of your methods and improve my tuck hs first.
    I'm currently focussing on hspu, does it make sense to train both or should I rather just focus on 1 thing?
    And if I'd train both, I guess it would make sense to start with straight arm work and then do bent arm?
    Thanks a lot again!
    Greetings from Germany👋

      Great hope these help. I’d suggest training straight arm on one day (Press Planche and lever) then another day training Bent Arm (HSPU and chins)

    Your introduction should be the first one, when you even start to expain PtoH. It took me a lot of time to realise that these are different techniques for the people with your flexibility. And "Planche to Handstand" is the only possible techique for the people lilke me. And to undersand as well, why quite slim women could do so easiy PtoH, while me, being much stronger, could not even rise my feet from the ground without falling forward.

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Very different for everyone. Strength, flexibility, limb length etc all make a big difference which technique is best

    • @LeoTaxilFrance
      @LeoTaxilFrance 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PaulTwyman My point was: practically nobody explains it clearly and honestly. For me, for example, it was always just a question of strength. Only a couple a mknths ago I started to take the flexibility seriously and as a result I can do now PtoH, both on a floor and rings. Not as smoothly, elegant and easily as you, but nevertheless. And I lost 3 kilos of fat, especially on my hips. And that helps a lot for this exercise.

    What about the hand positioning because a lot of people do tuck planche with hands 45 degrees out, so when you prees to handstand how should you keep your hands??

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  ปีที่แล้ว

      I turn them out slightly, so in between my standard handstand and planche positions

    • @PaulTwyman

      Super slow eccentrics should help

  • @ملتقىدجلةوالفرات
    @ملتقىدجلةوالفرات 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So basically this is the more advanced version of a tuck press to hs?

  • @dilljordan7303
    @dilljordan7303 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    i can do slow lift my hips 70% the way up but the moment when i need to push my shoulders back and get to tuck hs feels impossible

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like the point where shoulders need to come back towards the hands as the hips move on top. I’d try and spend time moving in/out of that point but from the top down. Hope that helps

    Sir I can’t kick up to handstand It’s so boring tiring unmecessary and I freakin hate it, I can’t find balance with it. How can I learn this without performing slow freestanding handstand to planche (I mean how can I learn without doing eccentric)

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don’t want to learn the handstand version. You could just focus on the static Planche variations or work the wall versions of the Planche press/ Crow to Handstand like this th-cam.com/video/CVuz3TnnY5Q/w-d-xo.html

  • @Asadc1995

    How does one build this huge flexion planche strength?. I have seen videoes of some calisthenics athletes who is not that flexible but is insanely strong in flexion strength with press handstands

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Static holds in Planche and then dynamic work like eccentric lower from handstand

    • @Asadc1995
      @Asadc1995 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PaulTwyman I cant lower down slowly into tuck planche when tucking the legs dont know if its due to either hips or shoulder flexibility related

    • @TheSalosful
      @TheSalosful ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Asadc1995 What is your progress? Might it be caused by insufficient shoulder strength in that specific position?
