This was my first Talking Book , and Id like to thank the reader for making it such a great experience , with his adept skills in voice tone , switching between characters and engaging his listeners without over dramatising it. Ive never read any of Mark Twain's work , and I love how it can reach both child and adult audiences . Great elements of sataire and social observation. Its a sad but honest reflection of some of the prejudice of the age evident in some of its language . Im sure this has been widely debated. It took me back to some of my own childhood reading which included Richmal Crompton's William books. Many Thanks. R

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is an 1876 novel by Mark Twain about a boy growing up along the Mississippi River. It is set in the 1840s in the town of St. Petersburg, which is based on Hannibal, Missouri, where Twain lived as a boy. In the novel, Tom Sawyer has several adventures, often with his friend Huckleberry Finn. Originally a commercial failure, the book ended up being the best selling of Twain's works during his lifetime. Though overshadowed by its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the book is considered by many to be a masterpiece of American literature. It was one of the first novels to be written on a typewriter.
The guy reading the book did an excellent job of portraying the sarcasm and matter of fact way that Twain wrote the best parts, without overdoing it. The matter of fact explanations of why Tom thinks the way he does is the most interesting parts and he pulls the portrayal of that off perfectly, very well read!
3:08:14 "she made broken hearted ejaculations" the immature teenager just laughed my ass off when I heard this. Such a wonderful way to describe the simple act of crying. Mark Twain was a literary genius.
I'm 40 years old and just heard the Audio Book. Twain is brilliant. His own life story is somewhat tragic. Very sad. I think he would have given worlds to be any one true character he wrote of rather than to have suffered the death of his own beautiful loved ones.

tamara I think its a nice book its only boring TO ME because it is an audiobook
Bear in mind, the Russian translation you've read was probably the Classic Kornei Chuckovski, a writer himself.
this can be considered a short audio book! most audio books are like 11h
Brooke Durrett REALY !!!!!!
It is even shorter than most of the other versions of this book too
@@lukas.caldwell some are 1 hour lel

Thank you so much for the opportunity of listening to this book! I never had an opportunity to read it as a child and always felt I’d missed out on something huge!!
I have several of Mark Twain’s books many times
Thanks for making this video, saved me time to read the book
as a person with adhd and dyslexia who needs to write a book report on this due to tomorrow, this is amazing cuz its very well read and interesting :0)
I wish these had been available back when I was in school. I didn't know I had ADHD, but it's obvious to me now. Hearing the story is so much easier and more enjoyable. I'm not one of those who praise reading as if it is the best way to learn. Learning in a way that suits your brain is ideal.
@@VioletJoyeveryone has adhd nowadays.
Fantastic book. Great voice, I remember a time like this when I was young. Imagination is made for childhood, then we grow up and never have an orginal thought again.
I'm 63 and I still have endless original thoughts! 😁👌🏽❤️
I encouraged my son to use his imagination, and he still uses his and encourages his children to be original and creative.
I LOVE hanging out with my grandchildren! 😁
Sometimes at night we lie on the bed in the dark room with a torch 🔦
We shine the light on the ceiling and move it around as we create stories spontaneously. The torch beam animates our tales. ❤️

Me
A modern-day warrior
Mean, mean stride
Today's Tom Sawyer
Mean, mean pride
Though his mind is not for rent
Don't put him down as arrogant
His reserve, a quiet defense
Riding out the day's events
The river
What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the mist
Catch the myth
Catch the mystery
Catch the drift
The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his skies are wide
Today's Tom Sawyer, he gets high on you
And the space he invades, he gets by on you
No, his mind is not for rent
To any god or government
Always hopeful, yet discontent
He knows changes aren't permanent
But change is
And what you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the witness
Catch the wit
Catch the spirit
Catch the spit
The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his eyes are wide
Exit the warrior
Today's Tom Sawyer
He gets high on you
And the energy you trade
He gets right on to
The friction of the day
Wow you nailed that one there are a lot of songs like that with history in them he told it true right there some of the stuff I am not to appreciable because I am American Indian but it's real stuff he covered up some of the bad stuff made it seem pretty like from the point of view of a robber and murderer I guess you wouldn't want to say anything bad about yourself in your own song he makes it sound like a fun thing all the time in his song it wasn't fun for everybody it was like going and taking a bunch of your friends and relatives and going to somebody's house and do everything like at your house even have children there and then hope that they will forget when they see you everyday for 500 years Plus what you say about his company is what you say about his society because they are all US citizens corporate entities not American notice he didn't say anything about thatCatch the mist catch the myth catch the mystery catch the drift listen to the cloudy stories pay attention and listen to what I'm telling youToday is Tom story gets higher on you the American Indian today is Tom Sawyer gets by on you the American Indian his mind is not for rent not for God or government he does not believe in fake nor falsified entities God is real it is not what you think it is the general orderly directive and he has had millions of years to correct it in order to watch out for his children even the ones that are not his childrenAlways hopeful yet discontent they have everything but they want more and when they get it they are still not content they want more you are not suffering your children are not suffering exit the warrior why are there warriors in heaven he gets high on you he gets by on you like the best that would never go away and the energy you trade slave labor he gets right on to the friction of the day everyday he makes himself a pest to the people that allow them to live and their backyards doing everything that a criminal will do in a person's backyard knowing that they will get away with it because the criminals are running the government also he told it like it was he did that
A modern-day soldier with mean mean pride but don't put him down as arrogant? His reserve is a quiet defense/when the cops speak to you shut up riding out the day's events/ he will do nothing but watch and take advantage of whatever falls his way usually about the indigenous people losing their property and family
His mind is not for rent /he will not testify in court
Mark Twain,Tom Sawyer, the incredible Orator, and then Rush. Doesn’t get much better than that. I am grateful I came across this after a severe accident to the shin bone. Excellent entertainment , excellent orator ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💚
Takes me right back to school (30 years ago) when I was first introduced to this book. I loved it!
Thank you Librivox, and thank you Mr.Grenman : this is a wonderful way to visit,or revisit beautiful literature.
I feel like such an idiot for wondering why everyone was putting time stamps in the comments. I'm like "What? That part's not funny...why are you linking me to that part? Why is this guy putting a new time stamp on the comments every day further along in the book? Oh wait, wait- OHHHH BOOKMARKS!" xD
Oh, hey Luke! Haven't seen you in awhile! How's life?
Elite Lens Films ... Lol same
Well, I finally heard the story of The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer and a very full Thank You to a great narrator. It took me quite a few decades but it's been accomplished. Well worth the wait.

I MUST HAVE READ TOM SAWYER AND HUCK FINN A MILLION TIMES A CHILD AND ALL THE WAY TO PARENTHOOD CAUSE I WAS VERY YOUNG RAISING 4 CHILDREN ALONE.
NOW I'M NOT A YOUNG WOMAN ANYMORE AND I DON'T SEE VERY WELL. THIS IS THE UMTEENTH TIME I'VE LISTENED TO TOM AND HUCK. IT'S PRETTY MUCH WORD FOR WORD WITH THE BOOKS.
THANK YOU GOD FOR AUDIO BOOKS.
Tom Sawyer is My Favorite Book
This book was due 2 days ago for me to read, unfortunately now i have to write a persuasive essay on it and i’m finally reading it
Best book ever- no one can change my mind.
I highly recommend this channel's version of treasure island. The reader does an excellent voice for long John silver. Very fun listen!
Ur amazing John Greenman😊 thanks soo much

Really good audio book
I loved this book it is my favorite book . Very well read
I'm 35 yrs one of my favorite books I miss being in highschool 😢
Thank you for such an eloquent recitation of every word. You kept up my interest till I leaved through the last page. Narrations like this add delight in the process of reading.
It was one of the first novels to be written on a typewriter.
wow what a reading thanks
i haven't read this in 20 years. I'd forgotten how funny it is. Thanks to the reader and the uploader for this excellent literary experience.
Reading this for school right now😭 proud to say I live In Hannibal, Missouri
Simpler times days ah America 🇺🇸 history GoD Bless Keep us all Amen 🙏.

Da hell
me too rn 😭
So...you were supposed to start reading this book a long time ago, right? And you didn't. And now you're out of time. Ha ha ha, procrastinator!
@@magistrumartium hahaha not sarcastic totally
The guy reading the book did an excellent job of portraying the sarcasm and matter of fact way that Twain wrote the best parts, without overdoing it. The matter of fact explanations of why Tom thinks the way he does is the most interesting parts and he pulls the portrayal of that off perfectly, very well read!
listening while reading?
Yep
me too
That's me!
i tried that but it felt slower
This saved me so much I was supposed to read over spring break but I was to lazy and I have a test tomorrow and this was like my life saver ☺️☺️😂❤️
Thank you.
Loved the movie too. Use to watch it on tv once or twice a year when they would play it.
I’ve always loved this book. ❤
I love how even after 10 yrs we are all still reading this for school. 😂
Lol
10 years? Lol this book came out in the 19th century
3:08:14 "she made broken hearted ejaculations" the immature teenager just laughed my ass off when I heard this. Such a wonderful way to describe the simple act of crying. Mark Twain was a literary genius.
Book report due tmrw. Haven't read the book.
same
So read the book...
John reads this so very well. A fabulous classic along with Huckleberry Finn.
Do you know who the reader is? Does he ever give his name, or do you know him personally. I LOVE his narration. His voice and ability is wonderful!!!
My favorite book of all time, I remember I had to read this book in grade 7 for literature class.
I'm 40 years old and just heard the Audio Book. Twain is brilliant. His own life story is somewhat tragic. Very sad. I think he would have given worlds to be any one true character he wrote of rather than to have suffered the death of his own beautiful loved ones.
