- A full unabridged audiobook of the classic short story, "The Wreck", by Charles Dickens - complete with sounds and visuals.
The captain of a trans-Atlantic ship recalls the events of the sinking of The Golden Mary, a passenger vessel with several dozen on board. This is Part One of the collection "The Wreck of the Golden Mary" with other sections taken on by alternate writers. The latter section titled "John Steadiman's Account" was written by Wilkie Collins, and leads immediately into Part II.

"The Wreck of the Golden Mary (Being the Captain’s Account of the Loss of the Ship, and the Mate’s Account of the Great Deliverance of Her People in an Open Boat at Sea)" is a collection of six connected short stories and one poem written by six different authors. Together, these formed the main part of the Christmas 1856 issue of the magazine 'Household Words', which was edited by Dickens at this time.
Dickens began a tradition of Christmas publications with "A Christmas Carol" in 1843 and his Christmas stories soon became a national institution.

That’s so kind of you to say, Carla. I have a blast making these audiobooks ❤️
Wonderful story and beautifully narrated. I have started listening listening to audiobooks when retiring to bed for the evening (being a poor sleeper). It has not worked very well as I have to concentrate to understand the narration fully and clearly.........now on discovering "Classic Audiobooks with Elliot", that has changed ! These dulcet tones and superb clarity have sent me into relaxed and peaceful dreams. It took me three peaceful evenings to complete this wonderful story...I thank you for your wonderful site.
That’s very kind of you to say. I’m so glad you’ve found the channel and are enjoying the stories here ❤️

Is there a part 2 ? 😀

Lots of other people have said it, but I'll say it anyway. Excellent reading.
(The new AI voices are good, but they don't compare to human intonation ... at least not yet.)
That’s very kind. The threat of AI is certainly becoming a real concern to narrators like myself. It would be great to see TH-cam doing more to protect the creative output of individuals against it but I’m unconvinced that will happen.
Thanks so much for commenting!
@@classicaudiobookswithelliot I've seen backlash in the comments, which is why I decided to read the stories I'm posting myself. I was first going to go with ElevenLabs like everyone else.
I'm not against AI. It is going to happen whether we like it or not, but I think there will be room for humans for a while longer. After that, it's anyone's guess. I think as long as one can tell a human voice from an AI, you'll be fine.
Disclaimer: I do use AI to help me write my stories.

Thanks for listening, Gregory!

Lol same as mine ..
Well told but I expected something less prosaic.
Thanks for listening, Ted. You may find Part II more up your street as it looks into some of the survivors’ histories. Released tomorrow!
Narration is' good, the story is a-bit stretched. Could use some' condensing, here' and there.
Thanks for listening, Fox. Glad you enjoyed the narration!
