"It feels too easy, even on the hardest difficulty" - this alone tells me they did the anime justice. Kenshiro is OP. If you don't feel like exploding 50 heads in a single fight is easy, you're just not playing as the real Kenshiro.

That is true but its still nice to have SOME difficulty. I never really liked being able to just steamroll every single enemy.
@@SolidSnake240 Just to clarify, I'm commenting on how that fits the character you play as, not saying that good games should be that easy as a general rule. I like the occasional "power fantasy" game which can be played when not in the mood for a challenge, but usually I prefer something where skill is required.
I mean, the only difficult fights in the game are souther, Raoh, and the original last boss, which is pretty accurate

The game sorta mashes up a lot of elements from the manga and the anime (the TV series and the movie). The first major arcs of the manga/TV series are summarized in the movie that you just got linked to, but without the filler and with some differences here and there. I highly recommend watching the original TV series Fist of the North Star, aka Hokuto no Ken (you can watch it for free on Crunchyroll), then watching the movie, Hokuto no Ken 2, and then whatever OVAs that came afterward. But the movie's a good place to start from too. The game picks up at the end of the first arc (Shin's defeat) and then goes off to do its own thing.
I should add that if you want to see the true ending of the series, you'll have to read the final chapters of the manga. It was never adapted into the anime TV series or movies/OVAs (at least not yet).
I've watched the anime. Can confirm that, by making this game easy, you're doing it right.

Long-time FotNS fan here. The game basically summarized and retold some of the anime’s stories within the context of the Eden plot, which was not in the original material. Hope you get into it and enjoy it, FotNS is really something special to a lot of fans.

Goty for me. I got sick of the tedium in Spider-Man and picked this up. It's in my top 5 games of all time I absolutely love it. It's not perfect, but everything in it is insanely FUN. It's brilliant.

Im not sure it was the lack of marketing, maybe the lack of knowledge when the people saw the announcements of the game! i have it know and its one of my favorites!!!!
Joe, The Alternative Gamer It’s the ultimate fan game, and I never watch per the anime or read the manga. I loved how the put Super Monkey Ball music in this game. So awesome.
This game is just a blast, the 80's feel is just epic, and the comedy elements mixed with the bad assness attitude of the guy is just AWESOME

The holy emperor Souther knew Kenshiro when he was a teenager, and that is why he refers to him as the boy of hokuto upon seeing him after so long.
In the True Saviour Souther made him have a Gauntlet and show saved him

This is the best Hokuto No Ken game made. It has good replay value with its mini-games, Colosseum/Arena Combat mode, item searching, and RPG leveling up system. The reason I deducted 1.5 points from my rating is because I think it would have been a good idea for other characters to be playable in Colosseum modes. I don't expect all characters, but at least Rei, Shin, Toki, Raoh, and Jagi. But at least you can use some of their techniques.

It’s not quite the same as the game the anime and manga are a lot darker than the game but it is similar, I highly reccomend reading the Fist of the North Star manga, it’s legendary and most modern action series are somehow inspired by it, in fact jojo started as a kind of parody of it, the anime is just ok, manga is legendary
As another person who hasn't seen the anime/read the manga this was quite the introduction. FotNS is easily a GOTY contender for me and the best part is that the game was essentially made by the Yakuza b-team (hence its use of the old engine). Cannot wait to see what kind of radness these devs have planned for us in the future.

This was one of my favorite animes as a kid. Jesus and Chuck Norris all in one. I'm thinking of buying the game but I'm wondering about role a role playing game where all the combat is hand to hand. Part of the fun in rpgs is collecting and upgrading weapons.

It's a real game. That's a nice thing to have, especially when the big publishers are stuck trying to enroll us into reverse micro transaction always-on side hustle habits instead of just selling us fun games.

I was a big fan of this game and was planning to play it when it first was announced a year earlier. I think my only problem in the game is how the subtitles aren't altered for the Japanese audio. They instead reused the dub subtitles they made for the english dub.
Another problem I had was how the Activities like bartending, batting, cabaret clubs etc were only unlocked during the campaign. In the other Yakuza games if you wanted to move away from the story early on you could move away to look around and alot of the activities are already open to you and more seperated from the main story.
The main thing this game does well is the combat(I kept putting off increasing my attack power so I could keep doing the Pressure point attacks more.) All the side missions and submissions are great. (I think the only one I had a problem with was the cabaret club one late on because of how many times you have to do it even after you've cleared all the missions.)

I liked the driving as well and I also enjoyed the story. I was hoping it would add stuff like muso Tensei during the main story so he would use the electric moves to defeat the cyborg. Although I'm glad alot of changes were made so that you can still read/watch the manga even if you play this game first.

If you are a fan of the series, definitely play this game. Its the best combat so far for a fist of the north star game and one of the only ones worth playing alongside the arcade fighter.
I was a huge fan of the Fist of the North Star series growing up, and the Yakuza series holds some of my absolute favorite games, so a FotNS game made by the Yakuza devs is such a dream come true.
I kinda missed the release of this though, the marketing was just so poor, and I've been so busy with just life and other games that I forgot about this, then I started playing a FotNS mobile game I downloaded cause I really miss this series, and it reminded me of this game. So I went to the PS Store to check the price and it seems like I've already bought this haha, probably while blackout drunk xD So now I can just download and play the hell out of this! Makes me wonder what other kinda games I might've bought while drunk that I don't remember...
Anyway, had to look up a review just to get a feel of the general opinion of this game. Great review man, game looks awesome, so cool to hear FotNS are gaining new fans and still delivering brutal action even today.

It's a bit too colorful, if they use the new Guilty Gear engine which looks like a real 2D anime, yet it's 3D, this'll really feel like Fist of the North Star but overall is captures it 96%.

Idk? I am a huge darksouls fan and love a challenging game but this game seems more to me of an experience. Kinda like the Arkham games, its more like a story you are playing. Like Batman You cannot be Fist of the North Star and not be a Badass mopping the floors with your opponents so of course its not as challenging as some other games but its just fun to play as Ken.

I'm a big fan of the original series this game is based on. That being said I'll say I LOVE this game. Being able to see and be in moments that were in the movies and series made me ecstatic with joy. Any fan will love and replay this game over and over again.

This game must come on PC, Hokuto No Ken is best anime ever "Omae wa mou shindeiru" ,just not so popular against younger people because is 80s anime.
I advise you watch at least new movies, series is too many episodes and maybe too old for some people but new 5 movies from 2006-2008 I recommend to anyone

Actually, the part where Kenshiro fights the holy emperor Souther, isn't really what happens in the animé. Originally, Kenshiro encounters Souther twice and was beaten first time by the holy emperor because of his body's secret.

I'm a big fan of the 80's anime series, much more than the original comic.
This game is not the story of the anime, more like a loving wink and a nudge, but the sarcastic humor and feel is exactly what you get from the original anime. Later remakes and the original comic are all more somber and serious.

In the animé, Souther is a vile ruler who kidnaps children making them full time slaves working to build a pyramid erected as a sign of his supremacy. Kenshiro succeeds in bringing him down after their second encounter.

I played the game and to me at least the combat feels kinda, maybe mechanical is the right word? You do combos so stiff that if you accidentally press square one time to often you are in the combo until Kenshiro ends it and have to slowly watch the enemy get to you with a strong attack and knock you down.
Also the parry skill really does not work for me I get that you kinda have to press and hold l1 button for the milisecond the enemy flashes red, but seriously couldn't they have handled this better than that?

I just watched the FOTNS movie and have been watching the TV series. Not once have they dropped the F word. Why did this game have to include vulgarity to this level. Its not faithful to the show.

Fist of the North star kens rage was a warriors game and i feel like that does this franchise better. Kenshiro' s sheer strength and destructive ability (along with that of his brothers and rivals) just dont have the room they need to shine if they're not in a warriors game. You need waves and waves of enemies to show how this 1 man is taking down 60+ men in 8 seconds and its really really fun. The 1 on 1 Batman arkham asylum style combat just doesn't cut it for me. Yakuza is fun, but just not cut out for FoTNS

Why does Ken have face of 19 year old?
His age is never made clear. In the original manga (read, before the actual manga, so a pilot) he was a teenager.
In HnK 2 (some 15 to 20 years after the original story) he's not a grandpa yet, so I think Ken is probably around his early twenties in the early story.
I was kind of hoping Raoh would be the main villain. Shin is really more of a footnote in the Fist of The Northstar series. Raoh is the real big bad of the series. Buut... that’s not to complain. This looks really good, and fun.
i'm disappointed on the console gaming shop where i work inside the mall keep stalling and avoid the issue when the game will be availble and worst of all i will miss the free kiryu skin offer by monday and so pissed about it and make give way those better games for a money grab and the hype -_-

You always repeat the same technique, the enemies all look the same. Driving felt pointless and boring.
The story felt shallow and the gsme was not at the level of the yakuza games.
