I recommend buying lamb chops. That way, you won't have to cook such a big piece of meat on a small surface. You could either cut the chops off the bone or leave them on. If you continue buying shanks, then make sure they are thawed completely prior to cooking and cut it off the bone so they will cook evenly.
Tip for lamb shanks - they’re amazing when braised ( hence the wine recommendation). You don’t need wine though, beef stock with sauteed veggies can do the trick. Only thing - you need at least 2-3 hours to do a decent braise. As others have said, lamb chops are a more accessible choice for limited kitchens.
Hey Alex Happy New Year hope this 2023 brings you all the happiness you joy you deserve it such a hard worker and love when you cook always exciting to see what you’re going to cook 🎉🥂
@tylergreaves8865 don't get me wrong I watch everyone of his videos and really enjoy his content but the fact of the matter is that his overall cooking skills a poor at best
3:15 am, I sat up, 44 degrees grab me a coffee, hit shower, 3:25 get dressed 3:27 drink coffee 3:30 pre-trip 4:28 start truck/grab second coffee. Grab cell phone, wallet grab laptop and charger, 4:35 turn heater on in truck, plug in laptop 4:40 run in grab 2 honey buns 4:45 drink coffee! release a-b clutch out and rolling! Alex, this is my usual M, W, F morning start! I'll hook up to my trailer at about 5:15 am in Raeford North Carolina and run to Dillon South Carolina. I get there around 6:15 - 6:25 usually, park and wait for them at 7 am to open and by 8 am be on my way back (empty) 9:30 am drop off paperwork, 9:45 am deadhead for Raliegh. 11:30-1145 swap out trailer, 12:00 pm deadhead back to Raeford. I have to say Alex neither of us drinks alcohol, but I drink coffee, Coke, Pepsi, and Mountain Dew! Today I'll be turning in my truck keys, been 3 great years with my boss, I was his most reliable driver. He's driving me to Georgia I'll be there on Sunday hope to meet you soon Alex. John
Alex, 2 days before I retire on locals and get my BRAND-NEW truck. I have seen Variant trucks at the local Walmart as well as Swift. Maybe I can get in on those runs? I'd be 2 miles from home! Run in and shower and get back on the road! I just don't want California runs, I'm happy with N-S or E-W oh and I still have Ralph the (stuffed) lobster for you! I can't wait to finally meet you bro!
It’s good to see someone living over the road eating good and having a clean and organized space. I worked over the road building skate parks and bike tracks and saw a lot of guys (and worked with one) that had a terrible diet and didn’t really clean up his hotel rooms that often. His diet basically consisted of microwaved hotdogs and a bottle of vodka every night while his roommate ate over with myself and my roommate. I had an electric camping grill and we would go out and go fishing for fresh fried fish with mini telescoping rods and reels and grilled all types of vegetables and meats. He was a nice guy but it was really taking a toll on his mind and body since he was an older guy. I always invited him over to eat but he only wanted to come over and eat when he was stoned and had the munchies. This was only like 3 years ago and now I’ve heard that he’s got some pretty worrying health issues from all of that.
If you want to do tougher cuts of meat like shanks etc, get one of those small crockpots that lock so you can secure it while driving and it can cook low and slow. I've done this on long trips in my van.
Alex just had a bad thing pop up and right now in my area there's a damn tornado watch! Don't kid yourself Alex, I've seen them, and they do toss a semi like a toy. What really sucks this thing is actually following my route back home. There were reports of one that really screwed up a small town just outside South Carolina. Do like I do pull over, because a semi can be replaced but you can't be my motto!
Alex, if I may you some advice here, my friend? if lamb is on the menu, I think you're cooking set up would do better with loin chops. they are smaller and great to grill. The shanks you are using are best when braised.

Been watching your clips for quite some time. I'm running a 2023 KW and am impressed with your use of space and courage to cook somewhat complete meals, as I just finished a can of cold spaghetti-ohs. Not kidding! Keep making content, but I hope you use febreeze or something for that lamb. PU
A tip for next time, when your cooking large meats make a slit in the meat and put a pot or cap over it ,so the heat can reach the middle of the meat. Great video! Keep ‘em coming 🔥
Im a truck driver myself . I always cook outside of the truck . Because it can cause a mess . The windshield will be greasy it will affect your driving .
Looked pretty good man❗️ Maybe you prefer it this way but I would recommend salt n pepper that bish up before it goes on the grill! Then after it’s seasoned with everything you like use your fingers and push all the seasoning into the meat. Then throw it on the grill. The veggies are a must stay safe brotha.
That food sounds good. I got some doordash "steak" from a bar and grill last night parked at my Memphis terminal. First time ordering steak but I was trying to get some real food since I don't cook in the truck. Meh it was uh, well something... then woke up to a tornado watch and heavy rain trying to drown me. Seems your day is going a bit better 😄
Hey Alex, I'm about to do my last local in the morning Raeford N.C. to Dillon S.C. then bring in my truck and trailer in and turn my keys in. I have to go to Georgia to get my truck I was told. I should be happy, but it's not all fun and games. I'm going to have to start all over again, I hope they pay what they said. It's going to be different living in my truck vs. just parking it outside my house.
I love lamb but it is expensive around me. Lamb is often found in Middle Eastern cooking. Check out some Moroccan recipes. Happy New Years. Alex's next video, Never say Never, I had to poop in a bucket.
Lamb is great if it's chops and grilled then a cranberry sauce is the way to go. If it's slow roasted then pita bread with lettuce and tomato, onion and tzatziki sauce.
Alex has longer routes than I do, and my route has country roads I just pull over and do like a bear. I sheet in the woods poor Alex can't. Jerold must smell funky every now and then?
Hi Alex happy new year. Can you show us how you wash your grill and plates etc? While may not seem important, I’m always wondering if you find it to be a pain or anything!
That's a great thing to be able to do but I don't see how someone could clean up well after that or wash up well. That's what alway kept me from trying this. It's great though you can eat better like this on the road. I always tried to stick to microwaveable food and paper plates and plastic utensils.
I came for the truckin'--got hooked on the cookin'. I get the feeling this will become one of his passions. Who concerns themselves over "plating" a dish at age 23? I was still trying to figure out how to use a can opener. He seems to have a curiosity, and good sense for seasoning.
Hey Alex, my old boss and I are both running a final run. I'm so ready to get out of this Peterbuilt, and into my Freightliner It's not funny! We're just leaving Charolette North Carolina to Wilmington North Carolina, then to Raeford. I got my stuff packed up and we're leaving for Georgia! Variant promised me a new Freightliner, I'm naming Fred after my son who passed away 3 years ago. He also was a trucker, and a good kid. Someday I'll hopefully meet you on the road, maybe ask for your autograph? LOL! Keep safe and after I've got 1,000 miles behind me, I'll start doing some videos. Just one thing though, Ralph is waiting for you! ✌
He is alive!!! ALIVE!! FrankenAlex is Alive. We thought your Tk was frozen to the ground with snow over top of the Tk. Last we heard you was up in northeast looking at sub-zero huge snow storm a coming. He is Alive!!
Cooking hint. Cook slow not quick. Invest into a meat temperature internal gauge. Food is a lot better. Tough cooking in a TK. But H*** lot healthier than that Tk Stop sudden heartattack death food.
Bro I was raised in NYC projects when they had to shut the water off for the whole day or sometimes days I took a mop bucket lined it with the plastic bags you get from the store sat on the bucket took a shit wiped my ass like a regular toilet tied the bag up threw it out and went about my day🤣🤣🤣 get a mop bucket bro and regular plastic bags lol if your gonna do that invest in some camping wipes you can even throw some cat litter in the bag if you're afraid of odor 🤣🤣 your basically camping in a truck my guy you have to adapt lol never say never
I recommend buying lamb chops. That way, you won't have to cook such a big piece of meat on a small surface. You could either cut the chops off the bone or leave them on. If you continue buying shanks, then make sure they are thawed completely prior to cooking and cut it off the bone so they will cook evenly.
Cooking is just like trucking, you learn something new every day and you’ll never stop learning👍🏻
Brother you are doing your thing!! 😊 Good job and be safe out there.
Love your patience and temperament in your vids. Inspires me to be more like that.
Tip for lamb shanks - they’re amazing when braised ( hence the wine recommendation). You don’t need wine though, beef stock with sauteed veggies can do the trick. Alex, how do you get rid of the smokey smell? Does it stain (smell) your seats or the interial cabin?
Hey Alex, what if you get a slow cooker and let your food cook as you drive? It’ll make your lamb shanks super tender and fall off the bone.
Hey Alex Happy New Year hope this 2023 brings you all the happiness you joy you deserve it such a hard worker and love when you cook always exciting to see what you’re going to cook 🎉🥂
Hi Alex, I'm not a trucker but, I find your videos very good I love seeing how other people live. Happy New Year!!!:)
He's a scammer don't do it

Alex, I would recommend a digital thermometer for checking your meat temp. Makes cooking meats so much easier.

I've used a bucket toilet for years, it's not bad at all, you just carry plastic bags for liners. Or find a tree. Or dig a hole. Lots of options.

When you cook with wine, the alcohol content is quickly burned off. You will not be consuming alcohol when you eat what you cook using wine.
