Now everytime I hear "It Has To Be This Way", I see the game's loading screen and the first few frames of the fight in my head and my fingers start twitching from muscle memory.
I will remember defeating Isshin, The Sword Saint until the day I die. AMAZING and SUPER HARD but so rewarding. I stood up and cheered when I finally beat him. Freaked out my whole family, cats and dogs included, lol. Great video. You guys are awesome!!
Blood Starved Beast - BloodBorne The Giant - Dead Cells Tilda - Horizon Forbidden West Elden Beast - Elden Ring Dragonic Tree Sentinel (Bridge) - Elden Ring Melania - Elden Ring Queen Valkyrie - GoW Lord of Doors - Death's Door The Eagle - GoT DLC Broken Vessel - Hollow Knight - my list (in no particular order)
Fatalis from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion is my personal favourite jumping out of the chair moment. He was added as the final monster in an update, and he is no joke. Straight up rinses players in flames over and over and over again. Me and my brother had to plan the hunt, use the environment, make dedicated sets that balance offense & defense, and still we would keep on struggling, so when it went down, the quets completion music blared, we jumped out of our seats and shouted. It is so rewarding to see the thing go down.
Finally someone mentioned Monster Hunter, there are actually a lot hard monsters in that franchise that could fit into the list. My personal favorite is Arch Tempered Nergigante along with Extreme Behemoth back before Iceborne came out and White Fatalis from Monster Hunter Generations. They are really damn tough and challenging..
@@irvancrocs1753IKR, Behemoth is like the best mon design ever in MH series, It’s the first mon that needs dedicated tanks / healers in a party when it first came out
@@TheREALHugo4 roguelikes always intimidated me, but I beat elden ring earlier this year and gave me courage to try some of the more… demanding games. Agree 100%, phenomenal game.
I want there to be some love for Aether from Astral Chain. It’s another platinum game. When I finally beat her for the first time, I was cheering. She is so difficult and so hard hitting. She really is the best challenge in that game. You really have to use all your legions to beat her, like the game is constantly getting you to do.
Ishin is one of my fav boss fights of all time. So satisfying. its tough but never unfair. Its perfect test of all the skills youve learned in the game
Fun fact about Lu Bu: One legend says that he knew how to use just about every traditional war weapon at the time. In the Fate series, this is referenced by his supposed ability to be summoned as any battle class except Caster.
Two major boss fights I'd say that gave me this finishing feeling was fighting radahn in Elden ring...that fight was like an all out war. It felt so good seeing him fade away when he's one hit away from finishing the fight but also you're one hit away from dying. I can never forget this fight. Also the fight with vergil yea...almost broke my controller ._. And was upset that my friend told me how easy this fight was! This was not an easy fight what so ever....though if I were to go back through it again I'm sure it wouldn't be as bad as I thought now.
Isshin is the epitome of boss fights. Sekiro is the first game to truly give me that feeling of having started at a nothing nobody vagrant riff raff who over the course of the game slowly honed his skills and became a MASTER Shinobi. Even after progressing through the entire rest of the game, there were no tricks or gimmicks that were gonna get me through Isshin quickly and easily. After five days of countless hour sessions at a time, it was only once I stopped trying so hard and conveniently reached a sort of, “zen state” that I realized mid battle how close I was to beating him that attempt… and inevitably did! I came home from Christmas dinner in a food daze ready to just chill and have a million more goes at him just for shiggles. Little did I know, it was fated to only be about 2-3 goes that night. My first fromsoft experience was completed with the most memorable of battles and journeys to ever grace my tv screen and more importantly… my mind. Sekiro and it’s combat will be carved into the ether as one the all time greats!
In the first fight with genichiro , look back at the cutscene and you’ll notice wolf hit his hilt before unsheathing his sword, showing he isn’t a polished swordsman. Then in the last cutscene with genichiro he unsheathes his sword perfectly. Everyone who played this game was learning along side wolf 💪🏽
Yozora from Kingdom Hearts Is definitely a character that should have been in this list. Hits like a truck he is very fast uses unblockable attacks steals your weapon and healing items.
man, when I beat the first valkyrie in God of War, I almost cried, it took me almost 8 hours... And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Like you said, the presentation, the energy, it all culminated to make a frantic, extremely challenging and exciting encounter. But honestly most of the bosses in GoW were like that, just a phenomenal game
I think there's two bosses that really stick with me overall. First one, I'd say Red in GSC and HGSS. For me, I hate grinding, so most of the gyms and the Pokemon League I ended up at with pokemon at a similar level to theirs (usually). But with Red, I was severely underleveled after making my way towards him almost as soon as I was able to. And while his team isn't "perfect counter to everything" kind of thing, it still poses a good challenge and was difficult for me and my lower leveled 'mons to break through. The second one, I wouldn't necessarily call "hard" (at least not on the normal difficulty), but beating Heimdall's ass in God of War Ragnarok felt incredibly satisfying. That dude was the most narcissistic, egotistical, self-centered sonovatog I've ever encountered, and seeing him react to actually get hurt before taking him out just felt so damn good. Sucker got what he deserved, and I think even that was too kind for him.
Sigrun, Isshin the Sword Saint, & Soloing Malenia, Gael and Darkeater Midir have to be tops for me. Also beating Contra 3 with my brother back in the day was a joyous occasion for us both
Honorable Mention: Terramorphous from Borderlands 2. Yeah he's a raid boss, but everybody gets to a point where they want to take him one on one. That solo victory over him is definitely satisfying.
SIGRUN...DAMN YOU SIGRUN!! In all my years I've never been so hassled in trying to beat an enemy. I have Trigger Finger on my left ring and little fingers from gripping the controller so strong. Was so pumped up when I beat her and tearing off her wings I did a small impromptu victory dance that day. Probably one of my most memorable gaming victories.
Definitely a good example of a hard boss is the Pure Vessel from Hollow Knight, more specifically, the Pantheon of the Knight. If you don’t know what it is, it’s the boss rush that is filled with incredibly hard bosses in the game. The boss by itself is incredibly tricky to learn how to beat. Just beating it in practice mode felt really good. I heard that Absolute Radiance in the Pantheon of Hollownest was harder but I felt done with the game after I had my last victory.
Literally any boss in” Prinny can I really be the hero?” Last one is insane but the secret one is the toughest I’ve ever played. Awesome underrated game too.
Sword saint Isshin fight has incredible tempo. The way the guy moves is just sublime, that makes it all the more satisfying to parry and counter him. The boss is a joke if you use ninja tools. But fight him using only the sword, and it becomes a dance.
Exactly. Exactly. That is how I defeated him in 8 tries. But I did use the feather ninja tool, to dodge his lighting. In my excitement I just couldn't time it properly.
Honestly Owl Father (the optional one in Hirata Estate) gave me this. I was on that fight for days! Haha. After going through him and Demon of Hatred, Ishinn wasn't too bad. Hype as hell though! Man Sekiro is the best. Love your channel by the way. I love how ya'll just know your stuff, are super chill, and have one of the least toxic comment sections of a channel of this size. Been watching a while!
I submit Bloodborne's Ludwig, the Accursed for your consideration. Such a fun boss, but oh so complicated. Highly satisfying starting to get the rythm and then you get him to half his health, phase 2 begins and baw god it's like starting over. Such a good fight
When I was playing Ragnarök I probably died 30 times in a row, I was exhausted and said you know what im done for tonight, im gonna play first thing tomorrow morning and I know i'll beat it in the first few attempts. Sure enough on my second attempt I beat it and only managing to get hit once.
Don't remember his name, but FF12 had a boss that would take a few hours to beat. Oh, and the FF11 mmo also had some REALLY long boss fights. Finishing those were a major sigh of relief.
I'm not a big fan of boss fights, but the ones in Metroid Dread rly took me on a journey. I got angry when I died to the first half of them, but i learned and appreciated the second half of them, getting pumped when i beat them. It rly changed my perspective on boss fights.
I still haven’t beaten Isshin. I have to take a few days to just practice his fight and beat him. Easily the most insane boss in From history, and I’ve finished all other boss fights in their catalogue of villains
KOS!!! First time I ever felt I can never defeat a Bloodborne boss. After a hundred tries I managed to defeat him. Loudest "YEAAHH!!!" I shouted in my life.
Nightmare King Grimm (Hollow Knight) and Nameless King (DarkSouls3) was actual Hype+Torture for me.. the satisfaction after defeating them is like nothing else!
@@floodgaming1846 the only way is to memorize the attack pattern.. I played Hollow Knigth back in 2020, and as I remember, it took me around 3hours to finally beat him... 😅 the battle and the music is super fun, so 3 hours is not that bad.. Can't beat Pantheon Of Hollownest, real life stuff don't allow me to commit fully for the game, so I stoped there.. no shame at all~
Thumbnail aside which I totally agree with, the first one that came to mind was Isshin Ashina. Granted, I used a guide or two to help beat him but even with guidance, it was so damn tough. Especially with the guilt of dragonrot.
For me it's a close battle between Malenia in Elden Ring and Isshin in Sekiro. I'd put the edge on Malenia because even with all the help the game gives you, it is still the most difficult boss in Souls history. Honorable mention to Ornstein and Smough in DS1, too.
Omega Weapon from FF8. My palms have never sweat so much fighting him legit. Without Holy War or remaster cheats. I literally jumped for joy when I finally beat him and looked around just to see I was alone. Still probably my proudest moment in gaming.
A fight that isn't hard but it was satisfying for me was hollow knight when you fight that council of grasshoppers, when they both jump off their thrones and attack you simultaneously the way you attack and evade felt real satisfying especially after the first few fights where they beat me down
Immediately started typing my Isshin comment lol. Such an awesome end to a fantastic game. When I finally beat him I had no resurrections left and you couldn't even see a sliver of my HP bar. Best believe I let out that victory screech.
I like your channel because you guys introduce me to games and genres and also contextualize them - helping me see how everything fits into the larger gaming landscape.
Not even a main boss, but when I finally beat the Tree Sentinel in Elden Ring, I cheered to myself alone for a good 2 minutes. That mf gave me so much trouble lol
Same here! I've played a few Soulsbornes before, and still got surprised by the fact they put a tough boss right infront of where you start. I completely gave up on the main questline to get gear and level to take it on. Very much a out-my-seat moment when they went down!
I just finished DMC5 for the first time on the veteran difficulty and I'm going in again with Son of Sparda difficulty now. Story wise, DMC3 is better, but the gameplay and the Vergil's fight, thrice as superior in DMC5. Can't wait for another round!!!
Beating Hell House on the hardest difficulty of FF7 Remake was such a challenge, I breezed through every boss after, thinking they couldn't possibly match Hell House. That said, Sephiroth was amazing. Just struggling to push forward in the fight, until I could have my team back, and then surviving his field nuke attack by the skin of my teeth and beating him, was so satisfying.
I'm super amazed how difficult the bosses listed must be since I've encountered difficult bosses but never played these games, they must be on another level entirely.
I know it’s an extremely old game, but Gruntilda from Banjo-Kazooie was EXTREMELY difficult! Especially as a kid, but even as an adult it’s extremely hard.
I so loved fighting the Valkyrie queen in GOW, I beat her on new game + even and though it took me a bazillion tries, every time she burst through and that music started, my heart got a restart, so freaking exciting and fun.
THE END from metal gear snake eater was one of the hardest and most satisfying because it relied on your hearing and vision to engage in a sniper duel with an OG
Oh man, in the DW series, fighting Lu Bu was a nightmare. Especially early game, it's like fighting a tank armed with a stick. I'd see him in the distance just hurling allies everywhere.
Isshin the Sword Saint was sooooo satisfying to beat, I’ve never had such a satisfying gaming experience than in Sekiro

Blood Starved Beast - BloodBorne
The Giant - Dead Cells
Tilda - Horizon Forbidden West
Elden Beast - Elden Ring
Dragonic Tree Sentinel (Bridge) - Elden Ring
Melania - Elden Ring
Queen Valkyrie - GoW
Lord of Doors - Death's Door
The Eagle - GoT DLC
Broken Vessel - Hollow Knight
- my list (in no particular order)
I felt so satisfied after defeating Malenia in Elden Ring. 😅
@@TheREALHugo4 - cringe
@@sheldonjplanktonn Nope. Elden Ring is really garbage. Anything from fromsoftware is a SKIP.
Game of the year and it’s garbage? 😂
This guy got stuck tree sentinel and deleted the game 😂
@@TheREALHugo4 L take + Ratio + you fell off
Fatalis from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion is my personal favourite jumping out of the chair moment.
@@irvancrocs1753IKR, Behemoth is like the best mon design ever in MH series, It’s the first mon that needs dedicated tanks / healers in a party when it first came out
Where was Yozora from KH3 lol one of the most difficult, well-presented bosses I've ever beaten. Super satisfying.
Roxas in Kingdom Hearts 2 on hard mode. Man that hard of a boss comes out of NOWHERE
Falcon: Vergil is a difficult boss
Dante: rOyaL gUarD!
Isshin is absolutely my top victory in any title honestly. I don’t think I’ll ever get the same thrill from a video game again.
I recently picked up Hades for the first time… and I definitely went through this after beating him the first time lol
Hades is a must. Glad you play it
@@TheREALHugo4 roguelikes always intimidated me, but I beat elden ring earlier this year and gave me courage to try some of the more… demanding games. Agree 100%, phenomenal game.
Completing The Phantom Challenge in GOW Ragnarok Made me scream "VALHALLA!!!!"
In the Fate series, this is referenced by his supposed ability to be summoned as any battle class except Caster.
i think it's supposed to be Lv Bu, not Lu Bu. lol
Yep. This. That game forces you to git gud more than any other From Soft game, imo.
Yozora from Kingdom Hearts Is definitely a character that should have been in this list. Hits like a truck he is very fast uses unblockable attacks steals your weapon and healing items.
Yozora from KH3 Remind DLC. Managing to finish him and the other bosses of the DLC felt really rewarding.
SO satisfying, beating them all on Critical difficulty is still one of my favorite gaming accomplishments, that TESTED me
@@YerbaMateo Wow man, I couldn't even imagine trying those bosses in that difficulty. That's one hell of achievement.
And lingering will from kh2
man, when I beat the first valkyrie in God of War, I almost cried, it took me almost 8 hours... And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Like you said, the presentation, the energy, it all culminated to make a frantic, extremely challenging and exciting encounter. But honestly most of the bosses in GoW were like that, just a phenomenal game
Icon of Sin in Doom Eternal was definitely one that I almost threw my controller to the TV once or twice while fighting him!
Same bro
It’s Sigrun and DMC5 for me. Sigrun was perfect and Vergil was fighting yourself, but a much better version.
Demon of hatred form sekiro is also made me jump in joy when I defeated hime
That was the only boss that almost made me cry🤣🤣 the toughest of them all
More bs than Ishin. Can beat Ishin easily in my 1st or 2nd try, but not demon of hatred
beating emerald weapon in FF7 back in the day was the most satisfying for me, and I jumped up and yelled like nothing else.
It has to be this way. Was a soundtrack that has stuck with me
I think there's two bosses that really stick with me overall.
Also beating Contra 3 with my brother back in the day was a joyous occasion for us both
Oh yes Midir, almost forgot about him! That fight is so cool, just as difficult and amazing as every dragon fight should be.
Superman from the first Injustice. I've still never gone back and beaten it again but man do I live in that glory like a decade later
@@ordenax same bro
Honestly Owl Father (the optional one in Hirata Estate) gave me this. I was on that fight for days! Haha. After going through him and Demon of Hatred, Ishinn wasn't too bad. Hype as hell though! Man Sekiro is the best.
Love your channel by the way. I love how ya'll just know your stuff, are super chill, and have one of the least toxic comment sections of a channel of this size. Been watching a while!
My first game victory cries were on the SNES doing the Roadrunner and Wile E Coyote bosses. Man I LOVED that game !
What game was that?
Yooooo, a man of culture I see! 😆😆
I remember those! That game was sooooo frikkin fun!
@@YupImNegus hehehe
I submit Bloodborne's Ludwig, the Accursed for your consideration. Such a fun boss, but oh so complicated. Highly satisfying starting to get the rythm and then you get him to half his health, phase 2 begins and baw god it's like starting over. Such a good fight
Armstrong was smacking the absolute shit outta me with those boulders man
Malekith was a big bad guy for me as a samurai who uses two katanas, just 7 days to finish him. Now I am in Godfrey.
Advice on beating NKG? I'm trying to get a % and Level 4 Grimmchild
@@floodgaming1846 the only way is to memorize the attack pattern.. I played Hollow Knigth back in 2020, and as I remember, it took me around 3hours to finally beat him... 😅
the battle and the music is super fun, so 3 hours is not that bad.. Path of Pain is way worse~ and even after all that, I only manage to beat Pantheon of the Knight..
Honorable mention to Ornstein and Smough in DS1, too.
with Rivers of blood and mimic ... it's a cake walk
Malenia is really easy if you have a good build and +10 mimic. She is also weak to frost iirc.
Malenia is really easy if you have a good build and +10 mimic. She is also weak to frost iirc.
Omega Weapon from FF8. My palms have never sweat so much fighting him legit. Without Holy War or remaster cheats. I literally jumped for joy when I finally beat him and looked around just to see I was alone. Still probably my proudest moment in gaming.
I am always watching your videos these are just the best thank you and please never stop.
Sooooooo glad they got Virgil's original voice actor to play him. He had such a great way to bring forth his character.
A fight that isn't hard but it was satisfying for me was hollow knight when you fight that council of grasshoppers, when they both jump off their thrones and attack you simultaneously the way you attack and evade felt real satisfying especially after the first few fights where they beat me down
you mean mantis lords?
you should try sisters of battle
Immediately started typing my Isshin comment lol. Such an awesome end to a fantastic game. When I finally beat him I had no resurrections left and you couldn't even see a sliver of my HP bar. Best believe I let out that victory screech.
Funny thing is I'm still stuck on the devil and senator armstrong
3 souls mentions, but your videos have been so good lately Falcon that I ain’t even mad
I like your channel because you guys introduce me to games and genres and also contextualize them - helping me see how everything fits into the larger gaming landscape.
I remember beating Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors 3 on Hard in the Hu Lao Gate level. That was a proud moment haha
"nanomachines, son"
teenage me: wooooooaahhhhhhhhh
Z is just soooo cool, it really feels like the end of the xenoblade series (or at least those 3 games)
Heeeyy
Just today I finished Doom Eternal and here we are. Icon of Sin was quite a challenge on nightmare difficulty 😅
Literally every FromSoft boss ever:
FromSoft kind of uped the scale for other games in term of boss battles.
fr a list for soulslike, hack and slash, rougelite, action adventure, and arpg titles. and fromsoft had most of the genre aspects 👏
Ornstein and Smough is definitely the one for me.
Pinwheel
All? Not at all. A few? Absolutely.
I just finished DMC5 for the first time on the veteran difficulty and I'm going in again with Son of Sparda difficulty now. Story wise, DMC3 is better, but the gameplay and the Vergil's fight, thrice as superior in DMC5. Can't wait for another round!!!
For the Metroid series I’d place just about any of the bosses from Dread over the Omega Pirate, but especially Raven Beak
Truth! Metroid Dread itself is a tough game!
Fatalis in world was one for me
That mf is harder than any souls boss I've fought lmao. Alatreon has it's fair share of bs. What about extreme behemoth with hunter rank amour smh?
DMC 5 is so good. Everytime I see it on one of these lists I just want to pick it up again.
Not seeing a single ninja gaiden boss on this list is considered a crime in some countries
I'm super amazed how difficult the bosses listed must be since I've encountered difficult bosses but never played these games, they must be on another level entirely.
Isaac frost from fnc made me do a victory run. Beating him was more then a challenge bc m
I know it’s an extremely old game, but Gruntilda from Banjo-Kazooie was EXTREMELY difficult! Especially as a kid, but even as an adult it’s extremely hard.
No Malenia of Elden Ring?
I so loved fighting the Valkyrie queen in GOW, I beat her on new game + even and though it took me a bazillion tries, every time she burst through and that music started, my heart got a restart, so freaking exciting and fun.
Yeah, I killed the worst boss ever. I instantly got fired
Sigrun's was the only thing standing between me getting the platinum in GoW 2018. I gave up on it. No regrets, I have plenty of other games to play.
Malenia >
I just beat Sigrun a few days ago. What an epic battle! I know I’m late to the party, and now I’m about 12 hours into Ragnarok.
Yunalesca in FFX was crazy. It took me a while to figure out.
Still trying to beat Yozora
Pretty much every boss in Revengence made me feel like an absolute badass! Thanks for the awesome videos!!!
As somone who doesn't usually play games with hard bosses, I was so excited after beating Trilla in Jedi Fallen Order
