    Wingspan Board Game Review
    • Wingspan Board Game Re...
Wingspan and Everdell are great entry level games into other Euro Games such as Agricola, Caverna, Castles of Burgundy, Terraforming Mars, Ark Nova, Brass Birmingham, Grand Austria Hotel, Scythe and Great Western Trail.
In this video we compare these two very popular board games to see which one is better and which is the best fit for you. Come join me as I share my thoughts and experiences with these two great games.

You and Maggie and Amy of Thinker Themer are my favorite board game reviewers - what is it about all you charming Australians?
Your channel is especially helpful since I am a novice, trying to teach myself about board games. My first was Wingspan and I agree on it as the gateway, as it was all that my friends and I could handle, but with the starter kit and a few playthroughs we got the idea and enjoyed it a lot. Isle of Cats and Parks were also hits with them. I can see how those could start to feel repetitive though. I bought a used copy of Everdell from someone locally who was culling their collection but haven't played it yet. Might still be a bit complex for me at the moment, and the typeface on cards might be hard for my friend to read easily.
I have to keep looking for player groups so as not to wear out my friends. Went to the Queer Board Game meetup at a local store a couple of times but it was hard to get in at the right level (there were party games, and then very heavy games).
I would like to try Atiwa since the theme appeals to me (fruit bats in African villages for the win!).
I finally got a table dedicated to games and puzzles so I will try to learn some more games solo and then maybe can introduce them to friends.

Hello! Thank you so much for writing this lovely comment. I appreciate your kind words! Yes Wingspan just thematically and visually is an intriguing game. I find Wingspan actually quite a complex game but it seems that a lot of new gamers just love it which is so cool! I'm glad that Wingspan has been such a great success in your group.
Parks is one of my personal favourite games. It probably can feel repetitive over time but I just love its elegance and subtle player interaction. Have you tried Parks Nightfall yet which introduces the campsites into the game?
Yes finding gaming groups can be hard! Local FLGS often have game nights or even the local library. I also found that bgg also lists game groups for different countries and regions as well.
I love Atiwa! Its a beautiful game. I'm not usually a big Uwe Rosenberg fan, I am more of a Stefan Feld fan, but I love and adore Atiwa. There is something about the flow of resources in that game that makes it so enjoyable! :)
Yes Solo is actually a very good way to experience board gaming. There are some really great solo modes out there to try!
      Cheers
      Danny :)

I own and love both of these games. I have all available expansions for Wingspan and I have the Everdell Complete Collection. I really love the contrasts you provide and you have given great insights for a buying guide for both games. Keep up the great work!

I actually found wingspan lacking thematically. Some of the bird actions seemed rather random

They say everything happens for a reason. It wasn't that I put off buying Everdell because I was lazy. It was because I was destined to get the Everdell Complete Collection that's coming out.

Great video! We have both of these games in our collection and personally I’m going to choose Wingspan every time. But they are both great! Keep up the content!

I was just looking for this exact recommendation! I've been too overwhelmed with the idea of euro games and long ago decided it wasn't for me, but I want to genuinely give it a try. Might choose everdell if it drops in price a bit. Thank you!

I highly recommend Everdell! It’s so cute, and takes a few plays to “get it” but the art keeps your engaged. I personally didn’t love Wingspan because it felt difficult to get an engine going, and once you did it was the same game each time you played. Plus Everdell is a nice intro to many other euro mechanisms!

If you are not against digital board games, I would highly recommend trying Wingspan and Everdell digitally before purchasing the board game itself. Both of them are good games, but they are quite different in the end. I might slightly prefer Wingspan more, but Everdell is a good game too.

@@friendlylavenders It depends how you want to play the game, but both of them are available on Steam (PC). Everdell is available on PC, Android and iOs

I have both and enjoy both. I’m not always up for playing Wingspan but I’m always down for Everdell. Never considered everdell as heavy though because everyone I’ve introduced to it picked it up quickly.

Hey friends, Which of these two board games is better? What are your experiences with playing Wingspan and Everdell? New to board games, I'd love to hear from you. Comment below :)

I own Wingspan and all current expansions and i enjoy it. I play it with the fiance. I do agree it's much quicker with 2 and that it makes a good couples game we can shoot the shit while just playing birds. Half the reason I got it was for something for us to do together.

    Hi !,
What do you think of Creature Comforts....bought that one instead of Everde!l ?
Btw: Pressed subscribe and it is still showing Red😕
Also: More solo game s please. Thanks.

    • @BoardGameSanctuary
      @BoardGameSanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I haven't really played creature comforts but my friend does own it and likes it alot. The themes are quite similar but the worker placement aspect is a little different. The use of dice is more prominent in Creature Comforts whilst Everdell has a bit more of tension in relation to the worker placement blocking aspect.

Who needs either when you have Terraforming Mars 🤣 I own TM and all expansions but the gf wouldn't enjoy playing it with me. It's a bit too complicated for her.
I also own Wingspan and all the expansions as well. She much prefers playing that over pretty much anything else she's tried. It's a fairly simple game you can kinda just shut your brain off when you play once you've gotten enough experience with it.
