Hi Berk, I remember 4 years ago when I first found your channel I was still in school. Your channel was one of the first I could find that focussed on car design, and your sketching course and videos helped me a lot. I have now just finished my first year of car design at university, and I will start looking for industry placements and opportunities soon. You are one of the reasons I am where I am now, and I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me and many others!

How about you set up a virtual design studio, get designers from around the world and just create amazing pieces together.
I'd love to be a part of such greatness Mr. Berk!

There are more fighter pilots than car designers.
Our profession is extremely exclusive and can make or break a company, so knowing how to manage designers from a management and human resources perspective is vital. Most companies do it wrong, because the same policy should not be applied in this creative sector of the company as in engineering, distribution or the assembly plant.

I have a question, how many people do usually work in a car design studio on only one project?
Why do I ask this, because I want to know if when I will become a car designer I will be able to work alone and create my own schetches and 3D models or we will be like 3 or 4 designers, all working on only one car, agruing over ideas as what looks better and stuf.

That’s true. I am an Industrial designer, footwear designer and want to go in Automotive design now. All corporates are the same and limiting.
I stopped submitting my designs to the company after 3 years of no increases in remuneration and the bosses made me starve and humiliated me. I have been evicted, tonight I typing this in the dark with my rent not covered. But deep inside I know I made the best decision.
Imagine designer a shoe that makes millions and I don’t even make anything close to that?

Designing for one of the german biggest car companies, I saved the company 20 euros per car (with 1.2 million cars planed, it's 24 million euro) in 1 meeting, only with my design decision.
I didn't got even a "thank you", I just got from the boss of the project:
"f*ck, they already aproved the budget, and now I need to show It was possible to do better, and I didn't realise before by myself. It's also dangerous for future projects, because they will reduce the budgets forever".

It's the response to the complain that he designs a shoe that makes millions and he doesn't get too much. Even if I save millions when I was not forced to do so, just by common sense, they also pay you nothing and even don't say "thanks".

These are notions that I already know.Furthermore, I am a student at one of the most prestigious private automotive design schools in Italy, and I still don't understand why there's a stigma around discussing earnings, given that it's a perfectly relevant question based on what he said.

    • @fullyleaded
      @fullyleaded หลายเดือนก่อน

@@davideristallo3339 There is no stigma. It’s just terrible etiquette to ask anyone about their salary regardless of the industry that they work in. It’s also impossible to give an average salary. It depends on the country and your experience. In America you could do an apprenticeship and get paid nothing. If you worked in India you could start as a junior and earn $1000 per month whereas in china it could be $200. That’s why there is no average. I can guarantee that you will not become rich quick being a car designer. If you want to become rich being a car designer you need to be relatively good at design but also be a good salesperson of your work and eventually you work your way up the corporate ladder and once you’re a director then you can start looking at six figure salaries.

@@davideristallo3339 I explain to you. Because those who hire don't want to give new professionals real earning estimates in the hope of lowering the salaries they pay current designers. Being a relative small area (comparing to general design) always be more ppl wanting work than actual positions to fill

      True.
Salary secrecy ist not for workers privacy, it's to keep labor cheap.
As unexperienced car Designer, In Italy or Spain, you will start under 2.000€, in Germany you will jump to over 4.000€ but taxes can be 50% if you are not maried. Later, with a few years experience, you can jump to 6.000€ - 8.000€ easily in Germany (minus 50% taxes), and in China you will be over 10.000€.
