After their parents leave the nest for the winter, their three young ones are left to fend for themselves. The parents don't teach the young ospreys how to dive and catch fish, so they must teach themselves.

Ospreys (like all birds of prey) have eyesight 8x better then ours. Also the mums (females) are larger then the dads (males) but if you compare the smallest adult osprey female with the largest adult male osprey the largest male would be larger then the smallest female.

I have watched osprey feed on frogs, mice, snakes and prairie dogs here in Montana. No t just fish.
