I love the way Ryan has been gradually evolving into a full-on prog head over the past couple of years! To Ralph - you have my utmost respect in having the guts to talk about what you are going through. I wish you a full recovery.
Hudson Valley Squares, you have inspired me. I am a vinyl guy with a database to filter my collection for a specific perspective and I have setup a view by year and I started with 1971 and I'm listening to every record for that year and moving to the next one (halfway through 1972). I really enjoy listening to these recordings released at the same time whether they be similar or very different. Its a pretty great way to enjoy the music. Thanks for the concept! Here is my 1972 collection by actual play count in the past three years: Album Play_Count Black Sabbath - Vol 4 Super Deluxe Boxset - 1972 5 Deep Purple - Machine Head 50th Anniversary Boxset - 1972 4 Seger, Bob - Smokin' O.P.'s - 1972 3 Steely Dan - Can't Buy a Thrill - 1972 3 Alice Cooper - Shool's Out - 1972 3 Beck, Jeff - Jeff Beck Group - 1972 3 Eagles - Eagles - 1972 2 Yes - Close to the Edge - 1972 2 Jethro Tull - Chateau D' Herouville - 1972 2 Jethro Tull - Living in the Past - 1972 2 Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick - 1972 2 J Geils Band - Live Full House - 1972 2 Humble Pie - Smokin' - 1972 2 Blue Oyster Cult - Blue Oyster Cult - 1972 2 Stewart, Rod - Never a Dull Moment - 1972 2 ZZ Top - Rio Grande Mud - 1972 2 Uriah Heep - The Magician's Birthday - 1972 2 Styx - Styx - 1972 2 Scorpions - Lonesome Crow - 1972 2 Rolling Stones (The) - Exile on Main Street - 1972 2
Speedy recovery to Ralph! My son is a cancer survivor. He had an aggressive form of the disease when he was only 1 but he is a survivor. He is now seventeen, he attends music high school, he is a gifted musician dealing with different instruments. He is an inspiration to me, my family and all people around him. Now 1972 Deep Purple -Machine Head Wishbone Ash - Argus Black Sabbath - Vol 4 Uriah Heep - Demons and wizards Number 1 will always be Pink Floyd - Obscured by clouds
The first Blue Oyster Cult album is an absolute masterpiece. I first heard it in 1973, and I still listen to it. Takes me back to really good days every time I hear it! I also love listening to all you guys talking music. Great show.
Best wishes for a full recovery Ralph, stay strong! 5 - Uriah Heep, Demons and Wizards 4 - Deep Purple, Machine Head 3 - Eat a Peach, Allman Brothers 2 - Black Sabbath, Vol 4 1 - Steely Dan, Can't Buy a Thrill
Much prayers and thoughts for a complete recovery to Ralph. You're one of the coolest dudes ever and a tough SOB. Kill this fucking c word. Thank you for entertaining us with your metal thoughts and observations while going through this struggle. 🤘🤘🤘🙏🙏
Best wishes Ralph from across the pond ! Like most viewers I guess, I had no idea what you were going through. Trapeze You Are The Music … We’re Just The Band was mentioned in the honourable category, it’s the only album mentioned in this episode that I still reach for. The first time I heard it was around 1981/82, still love it 🇬🇧
Great episode!!! 72 was a fantastic year in music!!! My best wishes to a full recovery Count Ralphus I hope for total remission!!! Fuck cancer!!! I wish you only the best!!!
First of all, I wish all the best to Ralph, the coolest metal dude on youtube!!! As for 1972, it's probably my favourite year in hard rock, but I'll avoid the popular choices because they have already been talked about a lot, and pull some excellent stuff from the UK that wasn't mentioned here: David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust Roxy Music - Roxy Music Status Quo - Piledriver T. Rex - The Slider Slade - Slayed? P.S. I'm also surprised that Butch Jones has never heard of Deep Purple's "When a blind man cries"! Even though this song was not included on the original album, it was still released as the B-side of the single "Never Before" back in 1972, and has been played live multiple times since then. It's a very popular and well-known song for Deep Purple, so I find it really weird for a rock/metal fan to not have heard of it even occasionly throughout the last 50 years.
I’ve listened to all of the albums mentioned except for Captain Beyond. I just listened to it and it is great! Thanks for sharing it. This is one of the reasons why I love this channel. I’m introduced to new music.

God bless you, Ralph. Hang in there, my father beat cancer, and so can you. My father won because he continued to have a positive attitude throughout, and always had a smile on his face. Early detection is the key, which I hope was in your case. Remain reverend in your treatments, and you'll be able to rock into your 80's! Best wishes for a speedy recovery..
Sorry to hear Ralph is going through that. Hes always been one of my favorite guests that you have had on and I also believe he has talked about Pungent Stench and Macabre, which are some of my fav death metal bands \m/
All the best to Ralph. Here's hoping he stays on the road to recovery. My top five albums for 1972: 1. Steeleye Span - Below The Salt 2. Lindisfarne - Dingly Dell 3. Manassas - S/T 4. Poco - A Good Feeling To Know 5. REO Speedwagon - REO/TWO

Wishing good health and happiness to Ralph. I also love Frank Frazetta! Love your shows guys. Keep up the good work and keep on rocking in the free world :)
All the respect and best wishes to Ralph. My top 5 1. Black Sabbath - Vol 4 2. Alice Cooper - School's Out 3. Blue Oyster Cult - s/t 4. Captain Beyond - s/t 5. I thanked Pete & Steve for having me on their channels but I forgot to thank all the loyal viewers, without you people and all the comments these shows would be meaningless. Thanks so much Gary! You Rock🤘🤘
Sending positive thoughts to Count Ralfus. I still watch the episode (What We're Looking Forward To In 2023, 5 minute mark) where CR was having connection problems and his image morphed into some kind of animated version of himself. Pete and King Alo were cracking up.
1. Vol 4. Black Sabbath. 2- Deep purple. Machine head. 3- David Bowie- Rise and fall ziggystardust. 4- Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street. 5- Alice cooper/ schools out. Pete and Co. thank you for your time 👍💯
Ralph's shirts sums it up for me. My absolute favorite album of 1972 - and my favorite Sabbath album period, as well as my favorite from the '70s period - is Black Sabbath Vol. 4. Rounding out things for me are The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars from David Bowie, Machine Head from Deep Purple, #1 Record from Big Star, and Transformer from Lou Reed. Some honorable mentions: I Sing the Body Electric (Weather Report), Captain Beyond (self-titled), Demons and Wizards/The Magician's Birthday (Uriah Heep), Talking Book (Stevie Wonder), Squawk (Budgie), et al. And Ralph, I didn't know your battle, but I'm glad you're better and hope you'll be fully in the clear!
Love & hugs to Ralph. Stay strong, dude. Deep purple- Machine Head Black sabbath- Vol. 4 Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust Neil Young - Harvest
1 - Uriah Heep - demons and wizards 2 - Black Sabbath - vol. 4 3 - Deep Purple - machine head 4 - Budgie - Squawk 5 - Blue Oyster Cult - debut H.M. Jethro Tull - thick as a brick, David Bowie - rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Joe Walsh - barnstorm, Alice Cooper - schools out, Uriah Heep - magician’s birthday (I love the song “Tales” from this album a lot) Humble Pie, Yes, so many great albums from 72! Dr. Hook! Cheers y’all, cool show Pete, enjoy ☕️
Uriah-Demons & Wizards and The Magician's Birthday, Black Sabbath Vol 4, the first BOC album, Alice Cooper-School's Out, and Deep Purple-Machine Head. I don't listen to the radio either. So, i don't get sick of any song. Interestingly, i heard the Made In Japan version of Smoke On The Water on radio more than the studio version. I really dig Redeemed from the first BOC album. What an Interesting song. I don't want to know anyone that doesn't like the Sabbath song St. Vitus. Steve, it was Master Of Reality that invented Doom. Never knew that Butch loved Chris Squire. I pulled a Pardo. When a band releases two albums in a year, both will make my list. Count, sorry to hear about your cancer. My dad recently overcame bladder cancer. Had to have his bladder removed. Hope that you're doing well. I love When A Blind Man Cries. It's my favorite Deep Purple ballad next to Solider Of Fortune from Stormbringer. The Stones are Hard Rock to me. My honorable mentions are Argus and Ziggy Stardust. My favorite song from ZZ Top's Rio Grande Mud is Mushmouth Shootin'. Iove Lonesome Crow. Sounds like a German Sabbath.
All The Best Ralph. Stay strong. Nice to hear that these programmes keep your mind on something else. Shitty disease. BTW my favorite from 1972 are Uriah Heep - Demons & Wizards. Phenomenal album that still holds up 100 procent. The first time I heard about Captain Beyond was listening to Danish band Zoser Mez. Hank Shermann and Michael Denner. Had bass player Claus Weirgang (Jackal). Their Vizier Of The Wasteland album had several session musicians. Vocalists Kenny Lübcke, Berthel (Lars Berthelsen) og Yenz Cheyenne. Drummers Kim Hagemann and Bjarne T. Holm. Live they had Lübcke and drummer Morten Nielsen. On the album they did a cover of Mesmerization Eclipse by Captain Beyond. Kenny Lübcke singing. On the album was also a cover of Mercyful Fate's Desecration Of Souls with Berthel on vocals. Mercyful Fate without King's falsetto. Quite good version.
Great show gents! Glad to hear that The Count is on his way back to full strength after his treatment! And big props to Butch for the Big Star mention ... such a fantastic record!!
Great Show.. All the best to Ralph on a complete recovery. Yeah Dust was a supergroup trio in reverse. Besides Kenny and Marc they had Richie Wise on guitar. He soon there after co produced the classic Kiss debut and the controversial produced Hotter than Hell.
a few of my personal faves , Purple machine Head , Sabbath 4 , Dust Hard Attack , Neil Young Harvest , Uriah Heap Demons and The Magicians Birthday both great , Cooper Schools Out , Paul Simon , Bowie Ziggy ..,
Great show 1972 one of the greatest years in Rock history My list Exile on Main Street, Argus ,Demons and Wizards , Steely Dan, Made in Japan Deep purple.
Hey Ralph! Best wishes and I hope you have a full recovery! You can do it! :) 💪 My list: Black Sabbath - Vol 4 Bowie - Ziggy Stardust Deep Purple - Machine Head Wishbone Ash - Argus Big Star - #1 Record Honorable mentions: Slade Alive!, Stones Exile on the Main St.
Best wishes to Ralph here from Brazil! As far as my favorites i would go 1. Yes - Close To The Edge 2. David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars 3. Jethro Tull - Thick As a Brick 4. Genesis - Foxtrot 5. Black Sabbath - Vol 4 Honorable mentions Deep Purple - Machine Head Pink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds ELP - Trilogy And also a special shoutout to my favorite brazilian album of all time Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges - Clube da esquina.
Hope Ralph makes a full and quick recovery. Great picks by everyone. 1972 for me. This was really difficult as there were so many great ones. And, I'm a fan of pretty much everything mentioned on this show. Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street Black Sabbath - Vol 4 Humble Pie - Smokin' Deep Purple - Machine Head Allman Brothers - Eat a Peach
My top 5 1. Deep Purple - Machine Head 2. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath Vol.4 3. Uriah Heep - Demons And Wizards 4. Blue Oyster Cult - Blue Oyster Cult 5. Elton John - Honky Chateau Honorable Mentions Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St Alice Cooper - School's Out Budgie - Squawk Humble Pie - Smokin' ZZ Top - Rio Grande Mud Scorpions - Lonesome Crow Uriah Heep - Magician's Birthday Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick Slade - Slayed Reo Speedwagon - T.W.O Eagles - Eagles Deep Purple - Made In Japan Yes - Close To The Edge Thin Lizzy - Shades Of A Blue Orphanage
Important to mention that Dust also included Richie Wise, with Kenny Kerner also involved as lyricist and manager .... so the people that got Kiss signed and produced their first 2 albums (that were high on the 1974 list), as well as producing Stories (at the time featuring Richie Ranno, later of Starz), Badfinger, Gladys Knight & the Pips etc. Dust also had a road crew that formed the basis of the original Kiss road crew.
What a year !! Awesome 1. Foxtrot Genesis 2.Close to the edge Yes 3. Machine Head Deep Purple 4. Vol 4 Black Sabbath 5. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust David Bowie .
1. Vol. 4-Black Sabbath. 2. Blue Oyster Cult-Blue Oyster Cult. 3. Made In Japan-Deep Purple. 4. Lonesome Crow-Scorpions. 5. Hendrix In The West-Jimi Hendrix. If no live albums allowed 3. Machine Head-Deep Purple. 5. War Heroes- Jimi Hendrix. Honorable Mentions-Ziggy Stardust-David Bowie
1. Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street 2. Black Sabbath - Vol 4 3. Deep Purple - Machine Head 4 Bowie - Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars 5 Yes - Close to the Edge
All rock oriented stuff on my list: 5. Lucifer's Friend - ...Where the Groupies Killed the Blues 4. Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards 3. Blue Oyster Cult - S/T 2. Captain Beyond - S/T 1. Black Sabbath - Vol 4 H.M. (not mentioned): Cargo - S/T , Eagles - S/T , Arthur Lee - Vindicator
As soon as I saw Ralf with that Vol. 4 shirt, I knew that was going to be his number one pick! Great album! I think Free's 'Free at Last' deserves an honorable mention. It's not their best and Kossoff's drug use was really bad at this point, but there are a few good songs on there like "Soldier Boy," "Little Bit of Love," and "Catch a Train," which is their best album opener, in my opinion!
1 Can’t Buy a Thrill- Steely Dan. 2 Eat a Peach- Allman Brothers. 3 Thick as a Brick- Jethro Tull. 4 Harvest- Neil Young. 5 Exile On Main St.- Stones. Nuff Said
Watching this video muted using YT subtitles was hilarious: when reading „this album changed my life in Prague“, I was like „aha, so Rob spent some time in Czechoslovakia, interesting“. But when he continued saying Close to the Edge was his „favorite Prague album“ I thought „wait a minute, something’s wrong here, oh yeah, the New York accent.
Saw Yes and Deep Purple in Fort Worth last night. Outstanding show. Both bands did great. Next show is Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie followed by Iron Maiden. Things are rocking in Fort Worth !!
T. Rex - The Slider, my fav album of all time Speed, Glue & Shinki - Speed, Glue & Shinki Ursa Major - Ursa Major Heavy Cruiser - Heavy Cruiser Hurdy Gurdy - Hurdy Gurdy Jericho - Jericho Charlee - Charlee Gift - Gift Reaction - Reaction Dark - Round the Edges Tapiman - Tapiman Morly Grey - The Only Truth Cargo - Cargo Eugene Carnan - Eugene Carnan
Awesome year for music. 1. Blue Oyster Cult - "Blue Oyster Cult" 2. Black Sabbath - "Vol. 4 3. Jethro Tull - "Thick As A Brick" 4. Steely Dan - "Can`t Buy A Thrill" 5. Moody Blues - "Seventh Sojourn"
Count!!..Dust is so forgotten and under the radar. They were pioneers of the American hard rock trio. Amazing that many don't know about Hard Attack and their first record. Quality heavy rock...great players. Marky Bell and Kenny Aaronson are a bad-ass rhythm section. At times they are ferocious...check out Suicide!
1. Free at Last - Free 2. Sailin' Shoes - Little Feat 3. Argus - Wishbone Ash 4. Exile on Main Street - Rolling Stones 5. Demons and Wizards - Uriah Heep There's loads more, like Budgie, Rory Gallagher, ZZ Top, Sandy Denny, Richard Thompson, Tull, Sabbath, Quo, Groundhogs, Purple, Alice Cooper, Neil Young...
I love the way Ryan has been gradually evolving into a full-on prog head over the past couple of years!

🤘 Thanks Mark🤘
All brilliant albums every one of them and great show as usual

Humble Pie, Yes, so many great albums from 72! Dr. Hook! Cheers y’all, cool show Pete, enjoy ☕️
love the list
Thank you Rick! I love your passion for music. Keep on rockin' 🔥
Vol. 4 and Master of Reality are my two favorite Sabbath albums.
🤘🤘
No idea watching all these months that Ralph had been going through all of that. Stay strong.
🤘🤘
🤘🤘
Great show gents! Glad to hear that The Count is on his way back to full strength after his treatment! And big props to Butch for the Big Star mention ... such a fantastic record!!
🤘🤘
Great Show.. All the best to Ralph on a complete recovery. Yeah Dust was a supergroup trio in reverse. Besides Kenny and Marc they had Richie Wise on guitar. He soon there after co produced the classic Kiss debut and the controversial produced Hotter than Hell.

Good luck to Ralph.✌️

Important to mention that Dust also included Richie Wise, with Kenny Kerner also involved as lyricist and manager .... so the people that got Kiss signed and produced their first 2 albums (that were high on the 1974 list), as well as producing Stories (at the time featuring Richie Ranno, later of Starz), Badfinger, Gladys Knight & the Pips etc.
Dust also had a road crew that formed the basis of the original Kiss road crew.

Hi Jason. Vindicator is great!!!
All the best to Ralph - think about doing a GoFundMe

🤣🤣

Count!!..Dust is so forgotten and under the radar. They were pioneers of the American hard rock trio. Amazing that many don't know about Hard Attack and their first record. Quality heavy rock...great players. Marky Bell and Kenny Aaronson are a bad-ass rhythm section. At times they are ferocious...check out Suicide!
