I made a pretty simple “Pa Sage Toad” build from a Grung + Fey Wanderer Ranger with the Druidic Warrior fighting style, for shillelagh (toad staff) and thorn whip (tongue lash). The subclass spell list does most of the work from there, but you can pick some fun Sage Toad options that would fit well from the ranger spells too. Some of my favorites were Longstrider, air bubble and freedom of movement, to name a few.
Inflict Wounds could be used with Evocation’s Overchannel to do 70 damage if it hits. As long as Rune Carver adds the spell to the wizard’s spell list, it could be devastating combined with a well-placed hold spell.

I would argue that Gamabunta is pretty stubborn, so one of the excluded Summoning spells could have been used. Same for Orochimaru's summon, Manda.
