As far as I know wenge is pronounced “when-ghe,” at least that’s how my woodworker friends say it. Also I love Kauer. I don’t own any of their guitars but I’ve played a few and they’ve all been masterpieces. Plus Doug and his whole team are just a lovely bunch of people, all of my interactions with them have been a delight.
I am a Kauer fan for sure, and when you said Hugger Orange, I felt so good for you ! The Gripen is a great platform that I'm sure Kauer will keep us loving for years to come. 🧡😊
As a guitarist who likes pointy-boi guitars, the Gripen felt UNIQUE in a way I wasn't expecting. Definitely an innovative shape from Doug and the folks at Kauer. Great review!
The weight and hardware specs are pretty stellar, so I'm not surprised that it looks and sounds great. I would prefer a more conservative shape, and I see that they offer a wide range of options. Those prices, though...
So they took a Music Man Armada and a Gibson Explorer and made a new thing. Excellent and unique designs to bake something on. It’s bold, it’s a good thing.
E.B. St. Vincent vibes-what we THOUGHT guitars would look like in our post 80's(non-dystopian) future, but turns out everyone's STILL hung up on 1950 great great grandpa vibes of antique mahogany boat anchors insteadSounds CHunKEEE!
My Grail guitar is somewhat similar. You can see it on my crappy video. It's my version of a 1986 Schon guitar. Wanted one so bad but they hardly ever come up for sale,(200 made) so I built my own.
I love the look of this thing and was fully prepared to drop the stupid amount of money required to buy one...until I went to a store and played a handful of other Kauers. Top notch build, but those necks, man. They're BEEFY and my stumpy fingers have gotten spoiled by Ernie Ball. I know from experience that I can adjust to pretty much anything, but I can't bring myself to spend the most I've ever spent on something that's not quite to my preferences. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I had no prior interest in kauers but saw this neck and fell in love. I mainly play acoustics with beefy necks and struggle to get along with any of the electrics I have or have tried. I have a Tele and a SG and I cannot play them close to aswell as an acoustic.
Kauer lets you pick the neck width. They offer a range and will accommodate almost anything you like (I got stainless frets, a thin neck, speed knobs, a custom color and a hardshell case with mine).
@@Spambots To my knowledge, they offer two neck profiles, roughly comparable to Gibson's 50s and '60s carves. Neither are entirely to my liking, but the smaller one is certainly *more* my speed.
It's like St. Vincent got ahold of an Explorer, a hacksaw and some hunting gear.
I was going to say that it looked like a Goldie and an Explorer had a child.
Love these guitars ❤
Great review Emily (as always) ⚡⚡⚡🎶

I’ve always heard it like ‘when-gay’
Rad!
Thanks for posting the plugin settings too!
You bet!

Love hearing The Hold Steady in there.
Shape with skinnier waist plus reverse headstock reminds me of Arielle’s Two-Tone! Very cool.

That is super killer especially in orange! 🍊
Yo! This is so cool
Elk Grove, CA ❤ representing.
I had an Epiphone Firebird VII and playing sitting down definitely felt ergonomic. Standing up had neck dive without a sticky strap.
As a GR7 user I appreciate the screenshots!
GR7 fanclub!
@@GetOffset it's so good! Honestly saved me thousands in pedals as a guy who just messes around in a home studio.
It’s a chopped Explorer. Crazy!

That's a very metal looking guitar,, like a firebird through N64 graphics
I like it ! Its kinda giving me St Vincent vibes...😮😮😮
Nice
Looks badass. I want one. Steep price tho!
It's like if a Tesla Cybertruck was a guitar. Hopefully, this doesn't catch on fire.
wicked guitar and great review a bit expensive

it's st. Vincent "explor"ing a firebird
Are you playing the Pete and Pete theme/ Hey Cindy by Polaris?
Hey Sandy, and yes!
@@GetOffset my bad, awesome though, love that song and the show!
Emily, when using your Opinel knife, please always use the twist blade lock. We guitarist need our fingers.
Always enjoy your shows. 👍
Hahah, I normally remember to do that!
Really cool guitar, but at $4k it's only for the rich.
That thing looks awesome but overall sounds a little muddy to me... and I'm even a dude who rocks the rhythm circuit
$3550? Well that's going on my never gonna afford list. 😂
(If I could though, I definitely would)
Whats your name? I really like your playing! I would like to follow you in ytiube if you have a channel or in the band you are in. Love chord melody
If an Explorer and a Firebird had a baby in the 1980s....🤔
it weighs close to 4 thousand dollars. lol
Bit too derivative for me but as long as you like it and it makes great sounds then it's a winner

It looks like a Racer X guitar.
Couteau
Interesting, but not at those $$$s
the guitars of this generation are not only some of the most gorgeous but increasingly some of the ugliest ever
Minecraft Explorer. problem solved.
It does look pretty cool though, and Kauer’s just a solid workshop.
It’s pronounced “When-Gay”
Used more in bass guitars than electric guitars.
