started fighting games 3 months ago, only played ryu modern and managed to reach diamond3. Now im practicing classic ryu struggling to execute lp -> dp -> lvl3 super.

if this is real it’s a pretty good example of why modern is pretty much bullshit.

I got classic Sim to master recently Ive always played with fight stick and my new goal is to learn modern on pad. This is super helpful.
I play blanka, Dhalsim and Kimberley and I only use modern in this game. I’m new to fighting games this year. Excited to see where he places my people!
Modern Cammy is definitely overrated so I'm glad you didn't put her at the highest like everyone else does just because of modern lvl3. I think losing cr mp is even bigger than stand. lk. Punk's style of play is gone in modern because when he's not whiff punishing you and making you scared to press buttons he walks up in your face and fishes for counter hit stand LP > cr. MP and this combo route is gone in modern so she basically doesn't have a reliable counter hit confirm from lights in modern which is huge to lose. Chun gets to have counter stand. LP > cr. MK/b. MP along with instant lvl2 which is why I think she's a way stronger modern character than Cammy.

Modern Manon is really good to me, i use her in tournaments and i have pretty high MR, i also. Use modern JP but with JP i still gotta do classic inputs , which is fine to me for the other benefits of modern
Regarding the damage reduction on Modern Combos into specials. If you held 'assist' and done say, a heavy combo, would you be able to manually input the lvl 3 CA to negate the damage reduction?!

While I do think he's inferior to his Classic counter part, Modern Dhalsim isn't that bad lol. I think he feels better in practice than when you're just looking at his tools on paper if that makes sense. I'd actually like to you see play Modern Sim one day.

marisa isn't a deep charater very simple. I believe that's why shes great in M

The fact that Modern Controls even exists in this game is a joke. As if the game isnt already simple enough to do half damage combos for 0 effort.
The thing I don't like about modern is it's not even for beginners. Like to do decent damage you still have to actually know how to do most of the main bnb combos that you would be doing on classic so easy auto combos aren't why you pick modern. The reason you pick modern is because you want to play a character like Chun-Li and do instant lvl2 reaction supers through everything and have access to easy mode antiairs. It helps beginners with anti airs dps and that is about the only true advantage for beginners. The rest is basically just for pros who are already really good to perform even better with their cracks reactions and it's so character dependent depending on the supers.

... No, it's absolute for beginners. It's how they can bypass being skilled at motion inputs for specials and supers, and bypass memorizing timing or button sequences for combos. Auto combos help beginners play the game massively.

@@Un1234l I think what he meant is that in order to be actually good with Modern, you still have to learn motion inputs anyway in addition to give a good edge to experienced players, and that is true. But, yeah, World Tour in particular with Modern controls is definitely great for beginners
