FILM DESCRIPTION: Triumphant over his greatest challenge with Russian boxer/killer Drago, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) is about to face an even bigger challenge-himself! Back home from Russia, people begin to note a slurring of his diction...which worsens. And they begin to notice that the things Rocky says are "dumber." Rocky suffered brain damage from his bout with the murderous Drago. To make matters even worse, Rocky is left broke by mismanagement of his fortune. Despite his desire to get into the ring, Rocky mist retire and find a means of supporting his wife, Adrian (Talia Shire), and their son, Rocky Jr. (Sage Stallone). Economics force the family back to the seedy Phila- delphia neighborhood they thought they had left forever. But Rocky has new hope for a promising young boxer-Tommy Gunn (Tommy Morrison).

That love and discipline in relationships back then were very strong. Nowadays its lost..though Im 26 in my mind I feel old. Because I have a old soul and I wanna find love like this someday. Probably because I been around old folks alot in my life.
Well said. I’d love to find an Adrian for me. The only thing is I’m scared of is to lose her to cancer. I would be devastated. I would never be the same. I am too scared to go through that. Rocky took it way better than I would have. He is a lot stronger than I would have ever been. I commend him for being that strong. That’s another reason why he’s my hero.

Yes, we all do. This scene was written and acted so well that it never felt like they were acting. It's a phenomenal performance, time and again with Rocky and Adrian. They set the bar really high.........every time. 😎

The movie is fine for what it is, but the problem is that " A man who worked so hard in his life to achieve greatness only to lose it all (at not fault of his own) to come back to what he wanted to leave in the first place" just isn't the final note (at the time) many people wanted for such an inspirational series.
Rock NEVER shuts Adrian up.
She is literally always right in every single one of their arguments, she knows it, he knows it.

"If there's something you want to pass on, pass it on to your son. He needs you!" Probably the most important piece of dialogue in this movie that goes under looked. We are a nation full of fathers who aren't allowed to pass on anything to lost son's.

Talia Shire's performance in this scene was incredible. Heart-shattering. The way she delivered those lines written so powerfully by Stallone with so much emotion puts a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes every single time.
She is an amazing actress. Delivered so many great lines in the Rocky series. So many people said Talia wasn’t good looking but I disagree.

Adrian is good at picking up rocky when he is down and giving him encouragement.
That is what good wives do. They are your backbone and will support you through thick and thin. This was an amazing scene.

Unfortunately boxing was not for his son so it cant be passed on and Rocky was too focused on training Tommy then put him over his son he neglected him, it's a shame we dont see how his son does in the future like if he has a successful life Stallone's son who played the character did died but not much has been mentioned about the kid.
@@RiruKrypto_ his son moved to Canada. He "made it" in life. I guess overall, he felt that he just needed to get away from what he was born into.
1:07 "All those beating...I took them with you" This is so powerful yet ignored line in the movie. We think only fighters are taking the hit but we ignore the fact how their families are feeling watching them beat up. If you don't realize it, recall when your loved one was in pain or suffering and how you felt about it.

A few times, this scene made me cry. That's the kind of woman I want regardless of race, religion, or whatever. She cared more about loving him and keeping the family whole than trying to get back up top. Adrian, you are the real woman of this moment.

Rocky V may have been a crummy movie but the acting's excellent. Stallone plays him perfectly. In this movie, Rocky is slurring and pontificating a little bit from all of those shots to the head and Talia Shire is awesome here. The characters both change a lot over the movies and the acting never loses quality
That change in speech sort of fit the change in the character in 3 and 4.
This and the Mickey flashback scene are arguably the two greatest scenes in this entire franchise (Creed included). It’s a real pity the movie was in many other respects a little disappointing.. :(
Probably the most underrated scene in the franchise. When he says "I'm not as dumb as you think I am" and "there goes Balboa, just another bum in the neighborhood!". Goosebumps.

I hate to tell you this but Rocky did choose the skinniest and prettiest girl.
There are no women like this in reality. They only act nice like this for a short time, until their true self centred, irrational nature comes out.
And people say Stallone can't act & that this movie sucked. He did fantastic in this scene as well as Talia Shire! They played off each real well!
Adrian is probably my favorite supporting character ever. She is the heart of the Rocky films and I was sad that she wasn't in Rocky Balboa, I love Adrian and all the Rocky films. Looking forward to watching Rocky train Apollo's son in Creed.

+Megs Smart Thinking Because if the man did not have a funny way of talking and did not make the "wrong" decision to capitalize on the muscle action hype in the 80's to make millions of dollars to look after himself and his family, people would have realized how smart he really is and that he really can direct and write great. Even DeNiro tried and could not write and direct a memorable film like Stallone did and people put DeNiro WAY higher than Stallone in regards to his talents, when really, they shouldn't.
+JSA19882007 Actually, I don't think it's talent. Just as Rocky, I believe that the man's got heart. He knew what he was doing with these films even if he regrets Rocky V. I think it's awesome. Evry Rocky film is awesome to some degree.

One of the things that I love about Adrian is that when she checks Rocky, she checks him out of love and never emasculated him... Notice, Adrian was the only person that Rocky opened up too... This scene reminds me of the magic that happened, when Sly and Talia were together. After Adrian's passing, Sly truly did a phenomenal job, portraying a grieving husband. As a fan of this series, Adrian's absence feels like a hot poker to the heart. Their acting was absolutely phenomenal. The chemistry was palpable. I loved this film, and it was great to see Sly and Sage in scenes together. 😎
"all those beatings you took in the ring, I took them with you" to me this dialogue gets me emotional. A woman is always mentally and emotionally strong.

I was 10 years old when I saw this movie. Out of all 6 rocky movies and all the scenes, this 2 minute scene is the best. I can remember this scene so fresh in my memory as if it was yesterday I just saw it for the first time. 10 year old me was crying during this scene because of how this scene was acted out. Adrian I think was the best tv wife out of them all. She was kind, soft and gentle hearted, but she was strong and tough when she needed to be, and thats something you don't see in a lot of tv wives or wives I'm general these days. When rocky was being brought down and beaten up, who was always there ready to fight for him? ready to back him up? she was. She is honestly hands down one of the best female women I have ever seen in a movie. Sylvester Stallone is an amazing actor and director. a true gift is what he has. His facial expression in the end of this scene when Adrian hugs him makes me tear up every time.

Even though this one is hated, even by Stallone, you can’t help but say that it still did better than many lackluster sequels. It never betrayed its tone and overall theme that life is hard and you need people you love to pick you back up.

Im melting for her such an angel, I cant describe how beautiful adrian and her character is, I love her so much, she never ever left him alone, May god give me a wife like her, she is out of this world, look how she tries to calm him down, look how she cares by choosing the right words not to hurt him, adrian is such a big character, even a novel would not be enough to describe her
amazing acting in this scene by both sly and talia. some of the best in the entire series. rocky 5 was always underrated for some reason.
This is by far one of my all time favorite scenes from the rocky series, I honestly think that this was one of the best monologues ever, nobody can top this scene, this was really one of the most heartwarming scenes

We live now and we always knew Rocky films were and are great.

Rocky lost most of the people that really meant to him, Adrian, Mickey, Apollo, Paulie and now Robby moved out of his house which is still great but Sylvesters real son has passed, Rocky taught me that you need to spend more time with the people that mean so much to you because when they are gone you can't turn back the clock so make memories and moments with your friends and your family before they are gone.
The rocky series is one of best handbooks for life. It really really shows you how life can be and what it can do to someone with all its unstable rises and falls, I can't imagine how was sly able to do this and rambo and all his other movie while actually living his real life too!

Rocky V is the movie Adrian had the most dialogue in. In the other movies she portrayed a mousy quiet supporting character. She shined in this movie by being more assertive and helpful by keeping the family together. But you can physically see the actress Talia Shire who plays Adrian has aged significantly since the previous Rocky although to me she’s still attractive.

This and the "Mickey loves ya" scene are the only ones that made Rocky 5 worth watching.
This scene and there's a little scene where Adrian takes a part time job at the pet store again so she could be close to Rocky. Knowing how hard he was working to try to make sure his family didn't feel like they were set too far back when Rocky lost his fortune. Those two scenes to me showed how much Adrian loved Rocky.

Still to this day I will never understand why Talia Shire never received any awards for her portrayal of Adrian in the Rocky movies. Even this part of the movie, shows her raw expressive charachter. For me she is probably one of the top ten all time female actresses to ever grace the movie world.

In the Director's cut Rocky said losing you I wanted you to have the best which in turn Adrian said I have the best.
