Visited Verona in 2022 while on holiday in Gardasee. It was magical. The Verona Card is a MUST HAVE. the fruit cups in the market by Juliets balcony was INCREDIBLE on a summer day.
as an Italian i loved this video!! ur content is always the best 💕 i recommend everyone to visit Verona; way less crowded than Rome Venice Florence and Milan
The Teatro Romano is a MUST, as is the museum directly UP from that. I spent so much time, looking at all of the names carved into the seats, and it was not overrun at all with tourists. I was alone a good deal of the time.
It's a general travel rule that the best restaurants are not in prime tourist areas, BUT the best meal I had in northern Italy was at a Veronan restaurant down an alley very near the plaza where the arena is (the plaza itself is lined with restaurants that are tourism central, so this was just fifty feet away from the prime territory).
Sorry for my English. Verona is in Veneto, a North italy Region. As a veronese thank you for compliment abaut my city. The bone marrow soup is called "peara' souce" and it's delicious 😊
Thank you Mark. Another helpful video, useful tips for Verona and what to see, what to eat, how to travel around. Appreciate your making the information available.
Having spend 10 years in Vicenza, I travel to the area often. I’m surprised you didn’t mention more of the surrounding area, I.e.Sirmione , Limone and other nearby towns.
New music under your description, Mark. It is kinda edgy and makes you want to move/travel. Good choice! First time I was in Verona we came with our dog who absolutely would not pee anywhere but on grass. Finally, just near the arena there was a small triangle where she spent the better part of two minutes, and it was the only grass we saw in the town.
Don't forget if you are day visiting on a Monday the Castelvecchio castle and museum and also the Roman Archeological Museum are both closed so a Verona day tourist pass may not be worthwhile.
Funny, I did a completely different Verona than you did. I visited 11 churches in one day there. And not even the big 4, but the smaller ones. There is an organization giving free tours there to make them more popular and give information there. It was overwhelmingly fun to do, but oh boy, it was much. It's free to do and enjoy it. Every church is different and has it's own unique story and feats. My favourite was one with huge paintings from famous painters of the Renaissance. Only that is worth a day trip. Also there are a lot of Roman archeological sites there. Also worth your time.
Il nome corretto della zuppa di midollo è pearà ( dialetto veronese ). In realtà il midollo non è l'ingrediente principale, importante per il sapore ma in quantità moderata
There's a recently opened and quite fascinating archeological museum in a beautifully restored mid-19th century Austrian military prison sited in the Veronetta area near Ponte Nuovo
I just got back from Italy, but Verona wasn't one of the cities we visited. We visited Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, and Sorrento. We took the Italo Bullet Train to get around between the cities, except for Sorrento, since the Bullet Train doesn't go there.
Hi Mark, I don’t recall you ever mentioning the use of a Eurorail or Interrail train pass when travelling across European cities. Have you ever used them?
@@eddiegaudette4287 Why wouldn’t he? he’s been travelling since he was a young man. Anyway, Mark actually addressed my question in a later video he made regarding rail travel. Mark preferred getting his deals individually and directly from the train companies.
After 5 visits to Italy I FINALLY learned ... Do not say CIAO to a shopkeeper or employee in a store / cafe unless they are your actual real life friend . Instead say the formal respectful SALVE ( sal vugh ) .... It's what every Italian knows ... but tourists don't .
Dr. Wolter, I was unable to understand your comments through the background noise in this video. While I do like the new/different transitions and graphics the bulk of information I get from your videos comes from your commentary. They just don't work well if I can't understand you due to background noise or music.
The best don’t in Verona is don’t bother to visit, just designer shops crammed on one street, crowds of posers parading around and wall to wall restaurants, boring beyond belief
Why not? It's pretty good and generally they don't have to breed horses to produce the meat either. They just get horses that would be killed anyway and use their meat.
@@scruff520 relatively rarely but yes. But horse isn't really special compared to other animals, pigs for example are really smart as well. So I don't see a reason not to eat them as well.
The Verona Arena is 70 years older than the Colosseum of Italy. I loved Verona. I visited it in 2019.
Colosseum or Amphitheatrum Flavium is Roman, rather than Italian!

Make sure to go up to the Castel San Pietro. The view is spectacular. It took my breath away!

Those are the biggest four tourist traps of Italy. 🇮🇹
Grazie!
I was there the end of September and lot less crowded and weather was still very warm.

Just went to northern Italy for my honeymoon and Verona was the highlight of the trip for me. Absolutely loved it there!!
Awesome! And congratulations!!!

Great video on Verona! I love Verona and restaurants around the arena. Where I learned not to order cappuccino after 11am. 😂
Verona is my Favourite Italian city!! ❤ Viva Italia 🇮🇹🇮🇹🍕
When we visited Verona, I thought the high points were the colosseum, the archeological museum and Roman Theater, and the Castelveccio.
Sigurtà Garden Park, a beautiful park 22 km from Verona.

Can I ask you the name of the tour? I am from Verona but I have never really gone into many of them.
Great content

It's a great place to stop for 2 days

The audio in some segments is quite low in this video btw :(
