I bought the £90 official one when I ordered the Q2 on launch day, used it maybe 3 times, before ditching it for Virtual Desktop. Interestingly, been circling back round to them on my Q3 having got back a little into "sim racing" (just wheel at my desk lol). Decided to try out that Iniu one you had on a live stream recently as was £13 at the time I saw it. Works very well, losing zero charge as you highlighted. I should probably run a side-by-side of my own two (Oculus vs Iniu), see if I can spot any visual difference...

I also mainly use my Q3 with the official meta link cable for flight/racing sims at 500mbps encoding bitrate. I have a high end i913900k/rtx4090/z790mb and connected to my usb3.2 gen2 type-c port maintains my QPro headset battery at ~80% for like forever and I don't need to attach my Q3 charger to it like powered link cables. Also, the optical cable feels so light and flexible. Given the amount of $'s we spend for good PCVR, the cost of a good cable isn't all that significant imho. A Link cable always produces slightly better distance clarity and 5-8ms less latency than any wireless options.
For most other PCVR games I prefer to use my Q3 wireless/wifi6 with either VD or Air Link. With the right settings both wireless options work very well imho. VD has a slight edge with hevc-10bit at 150mbps for reduced compression artifacts. But, Air Link at 200mbps Dynamic always seems to run a little smoother. I can make VD run as smooth by using SSW but this introduces some choppy/wavy artifacts with some games, and I don't like those (Air Link with ASW does the same btw).
For wireless PCVR I prefer Air L:ink because it has better overall compatibility and it's easier to switch back and forth from Link. Also, I like to use the Oculus Tray tool because it's easy to create game profiles to control super sampling and ASW modes. Unfortunately, because VD does not have the official Oculus sdk's you cannot use OTT (or finetune with ODT). I just hope that Meta releases a hevc-10bit codec option in the near future. I have asked them to please do this and they say they are looking at introducing this soon (fingers crossed).

@@jdogofoz3642 Ya, I often use 650mbps with msfs2020 for a little better distant clarity, but there's not a lot in it imho. Anything with Link at 450mbps or higher doesn't produce any noticeable compression artifacts. Anything above 700mbps can sometimes cause audio stutters. Higher bitrates, say 960mbps are also doable but seem to increase latency by ~10-15ms. Up to you to decide what works best for you imho. Cheers.

    • @tomc1380

@@MacInVR Really comes down to your router/wifi setup and ODT/Meta device settings. I have no problem with wireless PCVR using either Air Link or Virtual Desktop. Both wireless systems work very well and it comes down to personal preferences as to which one you like to use. Saying one wireless system is significantly better than the other is nonsense imho. Even Steam Link works pretty well with SteamVR apps.

    • @tomc1380
      @tomc1380 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@jdogofoz3642 Ya, I can use up to 960mbps but I don't see a lot of difference in clarity much above 500mbps with msfs2020. Anything 450 or higher gets rid of compression artifacts, for me anyway. Latency is about 10-15ms higher with 960 compared to 500 and most of this seems to occur above 800mbps. Also, I seem to get some audio stuttering above 700mbps. Simple to copy/paste (or in my case simply using the Oculus tray Tool (OTT) to see which bitrate works best for you.

To anyone who is using their motherboards type-c port and having lag and crashing.
    Use a USB-C PCIe card or a GPU with a Type-C port.
I post this on tons of videos because I like to preach but also because it changed my experience massively. Not every USB chipset is good, sometimes you need to bypass the USB chipset on the motherboard and just go PCIe. Doing so took me from lagging with crashes every 30 minutes or so to constantly playing and forgetting I was using a quest 2.
I very much recommend troubleshooting your cable connection before moving to wifi especially because your probably in an ultra congested area like me.
Yes you will still have to put up with the Link app on windows but atleast you wont have it crashing, lagging, or disconnecting. Unless your PC sucks but I cant help you there, get more money.

My link cable of 4+ years recently died, and they weren't being made anymore. So to replace it, I bought a Syntech one. While it does similar charging to what you describe for the INIU one, the Syntech cable has horrible connection reliability issues. It's as if they made their USB-C end to a slightly different than standard dimension, so you get disconnects if you shake your head or wiggle the cable at the port, and that of course kicks you out of your game and the link itself.

Hi!, May I ask a question. Can I run flat-games ( non VR ) via usb cable from pc to Quest 3? ( as an Alternative to wireless Virtual Desktop route ) How would one go about doing this wired. Is meta link app good enough for this? is any worse than wireless route thru Virtual Desktop ( still talking about running flat-games on a virtual Screen )

    • @MacInVR

If you have Xbox game pass, there is a native app for playing on a giant screen. If you have virtual desktop, you could play on a virtual screen.
I use the Xbox app to play Halo and BLOPS 6 so it works really well 😉

@@MacInVR Thanks, for helping and your nice review! I remove the quest adapter, when i don' t use it, but the green light indicates that it is still charging? I thought constant charging makes the accu go bad over time... Also, i was wondering if it has to be plugged in and out for each new session (after shutting donw pc) for some reason. To make it even more confusing, Sebastian from MRTV and some other guys tell us to connect in a different order: PC-Quest3-power cable instead of what is in my manual: power cable-Quest3-pc 🤪

Question, if you have a USB 3.2 port and a 10 gig cable, will it work better than the cables listed? Also if I am connected through virtual desktop with a WiFi-6 connection don't I have more bandwidth than a direct cable connection?

    • @MacInVR

      1) Interesting question, from what I can discern, 5gb is a theoretical speed, but really only 2.5gb is feasible. Would be interesting to try and see what you get though.
      2) The bottleneck is the Quest encode/decode cycle, so the answer is no.
