Groeten weer, Debbie
Hi. I tried the squash cake recipe. Went all out and did the rum raisin version. It was superb!! Thank you so much. I had no idea all these flavours put together were soo amazing. Will be returning to it later this year once my squash is ready to harvest
Just WOW. We bought a butternut squash to make 2 of these recipes. We just finished the roasted chickpea/mustard greens dish and are DELIGHTED. We don't even like salads!! Thanks so much for the timely and informative video, and DELICIOUS recipe! Hopefully the soup will be just as nice :-)
I enjoyed your 4 meals from the one Butternut squash. Especially the cake, I am just learning about the different types of Squash and how to cook them.
Aïe! I finally found time to watch this, but it is late at night, not cooking/eating time! All of those dishes look absolutely scrumptious ! I can't wait to try them out. Thank you for sharing.
This is still one of my faves. I revisit this video every time I cook squash. Using my last butternut squash this week. My son is looking forward to cake. ☺️ Hope you’re well. ❤️
Excellent ideas of using squash for different meal courses. I have some backtard grown squashes from last year. I will use some of your ideas for those squashes. Thanks for sharing your recipes.
Going to try some of this, the gallette looked amazing in particular. I've just cooked and pulped 9 large jars of squash to freeze to cook in soups etc. My squash were definitely too large!
So good! The warm flavors complimented the sweet apple and squash. I used sour cream (creme fresh isn’t so staple here in the US) and it added a nice richness to the soup! I was a bit on the edge about it at first- we don’t eat many pureed soups in my house, but the 2nd serving was so delicious and comforting on this dreary, rainy spring day! It just warms you inside and out without being peppery-hot. 5 stars!
Hi Vera. Where do you get the ideas for your recipes? Is there a website you'd recommend for inspiration? I love growing food but coming up with varied recipes is what I struggle with.
Hi Alicja, there are hundreds of recipes on my blog if you’d like to check it out : www.growntocook.com/ I’m also thinking of maybe doing a video on my favourite cookbooks? I actually get most inspirations from those, not so much from the internet :)
No, I just reheat it, everybody around here is of drinking age ;) But if you want to get rid of the alcohol you could always boil it! It is a very small amount per portion though as the soup serves 6 to 8
@@GrownToCook great! thank you. I have a sensitivity to alcohol myself, so that's why I was asking how it was. I can cook it off and hopefully still be great :)
Not distincly , but they round off the flavour. By using different varieties, sweet or more sour, you can vary the taste of the soup. I’ve made it more times than I can count with different kinds of squash and apple but it’s always good. :)
Wat heerlijk is, parelcouscous met blokjes geroosterde pompoen en venkel. Dan blokjes feta erdoor met een simple dressing van olie, citroensap en oregano. 😋
Are you sure you can't keep the squash longer that a couple of days in a fridge? I have in the past cut a butternut squash in half width ways and use the seed end first and put the other end uncovered on the side over night at room temperature and then in the fridge. I have had it last a week+ in the fridge like this as the cut part dries out and hardens. I haven't tested too much to see how long it can actually last. I am wondering if maybe there's a way of extending that time. It may depend on what variety it is though. I will have to test this again to be sure it works. It would only work for the long type of squash though I suppose Can I ask what is the reason for not having a freezer by the way? Is it to ensure you eat as much fresh food with most nutrition as possible? I liked the look of the galette the most. My Mum would definitely enjoy that. Maybe I will make it for her.
Thanks for the tip! The reason we don't have a freezer is because it is one of the most energy-hungry appliances and we're trying to limit out energy consumption. Just having no freezer and no dryer (which I both find pretty easy to live without) goes a long way :)
You’re as talented in the kitchen as you are in the garden. Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes. ❤️
Oh yeah!!! that's definitely a home grow, homemade, and from garden to table delicious dinner 🤤😋😂👍
Thank you, Lily! It's such a joy to cook with homegrown produce!
Hopefully you will continue to show us more recipes using your home grown products.
I’ll try! I love doing these videos but the editing took me 3 days 🙈

Its tough to find good recipes for squash, and these all look amazing! Thanks for sharing!
You can use a spoon to scrape off ginger skin for less waste and you can get in the nooks and crannies.

I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed it, Kevin! I hope the soup will be appreciated too!

Thanks so much, Christine!!
We will be busy this weekend. I love that last one. Butternut and leek gaul... I'll learn the name as I go. Thanks for these.
I hope you love it, Nancy!
These are good recipes. Thanks.
I'm salivating 😋
Thanks for giving me some ideas of how I can use a big pumpkin left in my kitchen 💚
You’re welcome! Hope you like the result :)

Dekuju, Augustine! Víte, že jsem původem z Čech ? :)
@@GrownToCook Samozrejme! videl som vaše video o návšteve domu vašich rodičov. aj to sa mi strašne páčilo lebo boli tam pre mna veľmi známe veci.

That soup looks amazing- making that today!

i love these videos. thank you🌻🐝🐞🙏🏻💕
Thank you, Casey! I love filming them but the editing takes several days so I can’t make as many as I have ideas for. :)
@@GrownToCook I am impressed with them... I’ve tried to make one, and it is challenging. Maybe when my son is older. 😂
It is so different from filming in the garden! Trying to show all the important steps without making the video too long - definitely challenging:)
Ooooh, I will definitely have to try that last one. We have two butternut squash left, and - like you - have a hard time using it all at once ;)
I hope you like it ! The galette is probably my favourite too, though the soup is a close second :)

I've never seen apples being used in a soup. Can you taste them at all in the end?

Thank you, Judith! I love making galettes - both sweet and savoury
Wow! All meat and very small seed cavity.
That’s what I love about butternuts! Some other varieties can be completely hollow on the inside
total vegan diet? well it looks delish.
