I’m a Sarawakian working in KL. People from west Malaysia zhen de 见识少 about East Malaysia and our culture. West Malaysian minds are so polluted/ influenced by the politics. Really should pick this chill and harmonious culture from the east.

I went Kuching for 1st time few years ago. Was shock 2 Malay local sit table in front of me while I having wanton mee in Chinese kopitiam. From there I began learning about Sarawak and Sabah and ever since I always told my friends that Sarawak and Sabah is more pure Malaysia than peninsula. Really, peninsula people need to learn how we used to grown up instead of extreme racial division. Really respect Sarawakian and Sabahan for their friendliness and togetherness.
Btw the Bidaban brother made me choked laughing😂

I'm a Singaporean, and I really appreciate this episode on understanding East Malaysia more. Actually I find that east Malaysia has alot of similarities to SG, most kopitiams in SG has mixed halal/non-halal stalls which is a norm to us, and I believe of of us are totally fine sharing the same table and enjoying our halal/non-halal food. Mutual respect for each other is of utmost importance, and never take positive racial harmony for granted ❤
Informative and hilarious, keep it up 🎉

I’m born and raised in East Malaysia. I also feel the same way in Singapore. I spent about 15 years in KL from university and working, the racist and discrimination are really ridiculous. Now I am based in Singapore and raise my own family here. I can feel home in Singapore just like when I was in Sabah. West Malaysia really needs to learn more from Singapore and East Malaysia. Your city is developed but the people mindset are always underdeveloped. 😅

The way Singapore ration houses to mix all race together in each HDB is actually a good way, in peninsula we are so separated and we will naturally think of a place as 'chinese area' or 'Malay area'.....

I am a Sarawakian Chinese. There is almost never a problem of mixing halal and non-halal utensils. That is because our parents taught us not to mix the utensils at kopitiam since young. Such basic respect was taught to us naturally, hence it was never an issue... until I was living in KL and realized such simple things can not be done, a very big culture shock for us... The west Malaysia politicians gonna come over to live for a while to understand this. It will be a beautiful Malaysia if the west can adapt this norm from Sarawak.

Sarawakian living in KL now~ You just can't imagine the culture shock I had here for 10 years+ up till today. Family members of Malay friends who thought I'm strange for being the only Cina girl in our group photos, Peninsula Chinese thought we could opt for boats/cruise to travel back to East Malaysia, constant mocking of our local Sarawakian food to prove that theirs are always superior 😩 Peninsula people really good at making people feel distant, keep finding differences + drawing the line instead of accepting and embracing it

I’m from Kuching, Sarawak. My daughter was born in Ipoh, I stay in Bercham for more than 4 years. Penang is one of the place we usually travel for food last time but my recent trip that is last year, most of the food is not so nice as before. I traveled to KL very often during my work time in Johor. I shift to Johor when my daughter was 3 plus and I permanently stay in Johor till she went to University. Currently we stay in Singapore but we still go back to Johor very often. Please don’t compare Sarawak laksa, Johor Laksa & Penang Laksa - I love all of them and they are all so unique. Only those who appreciate food will know the difference, understand the ingredients of the food you eat and you will appreciate them all. Different people different taste buds, I’m a foodies & KOL in SG, I travel & eat everywhere and personally I love to cook too. I’m proud as a Sarawakian and I love Johor, my neighbours mostly Malay & they are so caring & kind. Me & my hubby use to have road trip every year from SG to Hatyai before CoVID. Our coming roadtrip will be in October, we will travel from SG - JB - Ipoh - Hatyai - Penang then back to Ipoh before going back to Johor then SG.

For Example i always ask my christian friends if they going to the mass this weekend so we can make plan. Or we plan buka puasa together during ramadhan.

For events like this we usually use disposables. Easier. This happens a lot in Sarawak actually. We visit our friends during CNY and Gawai. They’d order catering from muslim restaurants and nowadays u’d also see raya biscuits and kek lapis served as well. All the non-M in sarawak knows not to mix their utensils. My ex-boss also cooked for us and he would call our muslim driver to samak the grill before the bbq event. High heat dishwasher cleaner is not required. Also, there are times u’d see muslims inside a restaurant that served beer but serve no pork too. It’s all about one’s own mentality and beliefs with an additional mutual respect. I see pork and alcohol as just a type of food that I can’t consume. Nothing else.

Based on Malaysia Agreement 1963, or the Agreement relating to Malaysia between United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Federation of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore (MA63) was the agreement which combined North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore with the existing states of the Federation of Malaya, the resulting union being named Malaysia.
Promised Sarawak have his own resources's profit under sarawak's control but Federation of Malaya "PLUNDER" and give Sarawak only 5% and "REJECTED" Sarawak's appeal of 20% royalty. WE DESERVE TO HAVE BETTER ROADS AND INFRASTRUCTURE RATHER THAN BEGGING

Another funny thing, few years back Kampua is popular in WM so lots of kopitiam have Kampua stall but when the food is here it is actually Kolo Mee. Alamak, like order Penang asam Laksa but curry laksa received 🙂

In Singapore, they have the same practices for the separation of utensils in a hawker food centre , one kopitiam will have both halal and non-halal food, with different utensils with lable/ different design. Then the returning of tray also are separated, hala and non-halal. It is a norm to sit in a kopitiam with my malay colleagues but I almost never sat in a Chinese kopitiam with a malay friend in Malaysia.

(Malaysian)
Sarawakian
(Negri council)
    Negri
    Jalur Gemilang

Sabah , Sarawak and Singapore exactly the same since old days. Only west Malaysia start to change after that prime minister took control. Hope the young generations Malaysian can change it back to that harmonious time.

Actually I can also see a few halal Malay satay stalls or ikan bakar stalls operating in Chinese kopitiam in PJ Selangor. Maybe it’s just not as common as in Sabah and Sarawak.

    United kingdom of sarawak.
Rakyat Sarawak memang bersatu padu.
Tp masalah satu aje,(gangster yg control ekonomi sarawak).
    Pasti sempurna.
Semoga Allah sentiasa memudahkan hikmah dan hidayah kpd semua hamba hamba nya.
    Inshallah.

So sad to hear comments about our road here in Sabah & Sarawak.. It sounded like there is double standards in West and East... The road in Semenanjung is far better than ours like many years ago.. We were left behind.. But in a sense of geographical areas.. Sabah and Sarawak are bigger states and the areas are much bigger than Peninsular so cannot compare.. From my opinion.. Sabah and Sarawak are now better with the Pan Borneo Highway.. Much convenient to travel.. Apart from that the population here are not so many like Peninsula as well.. So the road users here not so many..

Just forget it… keep in your mind u know i know… why Peninsular road is more better then Sarawak.. Look up the highest building Twin Tower in the middle of Kuala Lumpur… the oil is belong to which state, maybe you can answer this… so well,..As you know sarawak is richest country in malaysia.. Shell, Petronas, Petros is in Sarawak.. The oil mining begin from this state…., next episode in 2030..sarawak will be better than before….. Work hard work smart….

West Malaysia have a place like that in the 60s but kena kicked out because west Malaysian not ready for that.. Now still practicing the same. Malay and Chinese food stall operate and makan together. It’s called Singapore now. 😂

Today I learnt Sarawakians are living in 2040.
If the road problems there are not fix, they probably just invent flying car (or genetically engineer flying crocodile) and sell to WM with high shipping fee.

Kuching is the first place to introduce hydrogen powered ART into our transport network, so there you go. Also, currently Sarawak is the only State to introduce legislations for carbon trading. Give us a few more years, we are developing at quite a fast pace recently. About time if you ask me.
