The update for the RC 2 was available a few days ago. I’ve found the battery lasts about 12 minutes. I ordered two extra and the charging hub. I think it is worth mentioning you can only adjust the camera settings such as shutter speed with a controller, not on the phone app.
Great video. I'm happy that you mentioned the price when discussing image quality. It doesn't make a lot of sense to compare the Neo with much more expensive models. It's made for beginner pilots or for Instagram/TH-cam creators . . . and for this it works perfectly.
The max range in a round trip is about 2-2.5 km, it's not necessary the Ocusync 4.0. If they offer support for RC N1 could get all the old users of Mini/SE,Mini 2/SE,Mini3, Air 2, etc.
With the controller connected, will it still land on my hand? Can I still use the on-board controls? I just want to have the controller as an emergency option just in case. ☺️
3:32 It's also compatible with RC-N2. 5:34 5W of power will not work, 10W (5V 2A) is minimum for charging via both the drone and the battery hub. So hub needs at least 10W to charge 1 battery, 30W to charge 2, and 45 to charge all 3. 1 thing I'd add is it seems to be missing some settings in DJI Fly when used without a controller, and even missing some settings when used with controller that are only available in Goggles 3 (sharpness and denoising control). And setting them up with controller/goggles will not be saved when you use it with just the app. Hopefully things like that will get fixed via updates, and I am also really hoping they will improve the color profile in general, reduce exposure by like 0.3-0.7, reduce saturation, fix auto-wb and give us more/better choice of resolutions. All the things we know the camera definitely can do.
Great review thanks!! I found that under low light it gets unstable and sometimes starts going sideways even on manual mode. Perhaps it uses the camera for orientation? (as there are no other sensors)
Got mine here in Australia, I love it and it easily connects with RC2. Still not sure where it fits in but I know it will be handy to carry everywhere.
@DMProductions Fantastic review, Darren!!! I keep saying in commenting on your Neo videos, I don't even need the RC-N3 controller! Since the US combo will not include it, I am good, because I have virtually every other controller you mentioned in this review: RC 2, FPV Controller 3, Motion Controller 3 AND the Goggles 3!! I keep saying that I'm seriously considering adding the Neo to my collection, and most likely I will. Mainly thanks to you and your great reviews. Thanks again my friend 👍🏾
👏👏 My NEO will arrive today, I liked your tutorial, among many I saw it was the only one that used a decibel meter to show the buzzing noise. Congratulations from Brazil, take care, have good flights and God bless you🤗🙏🏻
Thanks for the great video. Using it with my iphone but can get sound to appear on the DJI Neo app? How can I record sound from my iphone mic into the drone card? Thanks so much
Just had my Neo in the air for the first time earlier, imo it’s just as good as any other DJI drone but in a different way, for the price it’s ace. Q. Could I fly the Neo with just a motion controller or do I need the goggles as well? I suppose if I ‘found’ a £1000 I could just buy an avata 2, never flown FPV before. Looking forward to more videos on the Neo 👍
@@Dremansworld Update, spec sheet says 8ms, which works out to be about 28kph. Seems it can go quite a bit faster if you're using a controller, but 28kph on follow mode.
To control this with the motion 3 controller do you need to use fpv goggles? I have this as a standalone and not sure if I want to get the rc3 controller however the motion controller seems more affordable and quite nice despite it been designed for fpv. Are goggles required to use it?
Goggles3 are required to use the MC3 or the FPV3. The goggles have to be on but you can fly without looking at the goggles, just looking at the drone. The reason is that on version 3 the controllers link to the goggles and the goggles link to the Neo.
Good morning. So I live in the Pacific Northwest of Canada which has fairly British weather. How does she fly in grey weather, Low wind and no rain but cool and humid?

Does take some work to get RC2 to work with the Neo. The RC2 doesn't link to my Neo out of the box, i needed to instal the app on a phone then use the QR code that shipped with the Neo. As someone else mentioned the required app is not on the Playstore. So run app, connect to Neo and then update firmware. Then you can now connect the RC2 to the Neo. I found the range is good but certainly you cannot fly out 10 km, maybe 1.5 km max as range is limited to battery life. You can also use the RC2 to reduce sharpness and also reduce sensitivity by adjusting ISO setting. OIS is pretty decent, but in high winds with drone in a bank video will stutter due to OIS fighting with gimbal trying to hold horizon steady. I like the design with prop guards as they do a good job of protecting props.
Thanks For you video, you make a comparison between the mini 4 pro and this, I think the same, they are totally different, but what a about the neo vs mini4k ?, I think in some cases this drone can overlap the other one
Over water, snow or over a cliff, etc., the Hover X1 also is very bad, and will likely just lose control and fly away. Can you do some testing on this and sacrifice your Neo for the community? 😊 The upcoming Hover X1 Pro/ProMax supposedly has a special water/snow/cliff mode. Interesting! But it will be pricey.
What they also don’t tell you is that it will auto-land as soon as it looses visibility of the ground: in low-light (even in manual mode - experienced this myself) and apparently also over drop-offs and water (haven’t tested this myself yet as I don’t want to lose the drone). Especially the drop-off limitation is a real bummer as this might be popular for family vacations. The initial commercial from DJI also showed the drone flying closely over water.
Geofencing (loose) App not on Google Play (manual install) Lousy low light performance (not great for indoor flying) Need to be a bit of a nerd to get things going first time First time startup might be in Chinese (this corrects itself, don't worry) Doesn't do well in moderate winds No mic (when you use your phone for sound recording, you can isolate your voice and mute other sounds ... works well) One axis gimbal but very good digital image stabilisation That's what I found after owning one for a few days now.
I recieved mine and in mixed opinion as of yet , firstly don't expect too much especially for the price . OMG it's noisy ha ha the Mini 3 pro at 100ft.is silent where the Neo is definitely not 😂. Lastly in sport mode it will do 18mph which is painfully slow HOWEVER it can achieve over 30mph in FPV mode, so why not allow similar performance using the N3 controller 😢?
Don’t understand why they didn’t add support for the DJI RC which I have with my mini 3 pro, always a new controller everytime, just a cash grab now is DJI
Mini 3 Pro and Mini 3, not exactly "a lot of" them 😄 The old RC is O3, and Neo and RC 2 are O4 (just like all other controllers compatible with it). I wouldn't expect them to ever support the old one with Neo or any other drone for that matter.
As a marketer, what they didn’t tell you, a male watching these reviews, is that this is a filler device that addresses a market gap for non-tech savvy, low budget drone for social media. The main target market is the usual non-tech savvy heavy social media users - women. Watch their ads and see who the “hero” is in them. There are at least 8 ads now across all regions that feature a woman protagonist, even including a pregnant woman taking pregnancy selfies of herself at the beach.
