    Very interesting. I think it’s a little known fact that many very high profile TH-camrs shoot all their videos in 1080p. Unless mega zooming, it’s just about unnoticeable to the naked eye.

    I don’t have a Neo because I have the 2 equipment and an RC 1, but I totally agree I like 60 fps for drones. I don’t like less than 60 fps because I definitely see the skipping and it makes it so it’s not enjoyable. I can also see it in your video on both the goggles and the RC 2. If dji ever make the Neo compatible with my equipment I would definitely fun it at 1080 60 fps.

    So how about the avata 2 having a better camera? Is it also better at 1080 60? I do 4k 120 and I absolutely love it

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      You're good setting the Avata 2 at 4K 120. The real issue is the frame rate on DJI goggles and recordings. The NEO is unable to have a higher frame rate than 30 fps at 4K. We have found that the minimum frame rate is 60 fps (we haven't tried 50, but it's probably fine).
      We would prefer 4k 60 on the NEO, but it's not possible, so we'd rather sacrifice resolution for smooth video.
      We made a similar video with the Avata 2 here, comparing 4K/30 vs 4K/60 if you want to check it out. th-cam.com/video/Auu7r2KgMD0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BB0rjUrWhzz5yyX1&t=58

    this 'jittery' is actually just rolling shutter which is happening due to low processing power/slow readout of the sensor

      Interesting that it also happens with the Avata 2. 4k / 60 looks great, but 4k / 30 has the same jittery look.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nice! We just find it difficult to fly in goggles when the video is so jittery (it makes us feel like there's a disconnect or lack of control while flying), but on a controller or phone screen it's not bad, so that's a good workaround.

    • @jasonzdora
      @jasonzdora 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wonder if the Topaz frame replacement (30hz to 60hz) is better than their upscaling algo.
      Meaning, would you get better results filling in every other frame with AI or would you get better results with upscaling from 1080 to 4k while recording in 60fps.

  • @luis.enciso
    @luis.enciso 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yes you Can later upscale 4K 30 from 1080 P 60. The same way you can add fps to 4K 30 to make it 4K 60, 100, 90, 120, and reduce cinematic jittery

      Totally agree with you, but if you're flying FPV style, the stuttering in the goggles makes it really uncomfortable and difficult to fly. It's hard to explain, but it almost feels laggy. Just not a great flying experience, but on a controller, and with the help of some post processing, then yes, higher resolution makes sense. 👍 Thanks for the comments.

    This applies to all drones. I use 4K to get the higher resolution but 30, or 40 FPS instead of 60 to lower the memory consumption and get more time between swapping memory cards. I know, buying larger cards is another way to do it.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That makes sense on paper, but our experience is that higher frame rates are better (60 fps was smoother than 30 fps on the Avata series as well). Since the Avatas can shoot in 4k at 60 fps, we prefer that option. Basically, try choosing the highest resolution at 60fps.
      Here's our video about the Avata 2 and the stuttering if you want to check that out.

Quick rotations are only used for swinging the camera around and those parts are mostly cut out. Slow moves is used when recording.

    Ive also heard that there is less latency when shooting 1080/60. Im new to manual flight so the NEO at 4k seems "fine" to me. Im not very experienced yet, so I cant really say for sure. I wonder if the latency going to be noticeably better at 1080

      No, it doesn't look like it to me. The interface is exactly like a Mini 3 or Mini 4 pro, so it behaves like a 3 axis camera drone.
      In fact, Horizon Steady seems to be automatically enabled, of course in the final recording, but also during the flight, in the transmitted live view. There's no mechanical 3 axis gimbal to keep the horizon locked, so it's all electronic and real time (as far as I can tell).

    This is interessting. Normally, very short shutter speed causing such jittery footage. So we dont know what shutter speed dji is setting up in their drones.
    Maybe 180 degree rule and shorter if more light is aviabel.
    I cant belive that 4k is using a shorter shutter speed then 1080p. And this should be the reason.

    • @readysetdrone

      We originally thought that ND filters would help, but it seems like a DJI issue with their FPV drones.
      If you get a chance to try it with any of DJI's FPV drones, like the Avata, you should see a big difference. Personally, flying with DJI goggles at 30fps is very disorienting.
