First and foremost I would like to say that this man "Scott " is absolutely in love with his work, so much so that it is beautiful. And thats amazing, because he takes the time to make sure that you understand what he's saying so that you can kind of picture what the end product will be, and the product is better then the picture he put in ur mind, i luv this coz it feels relaxing to watch, if yall(the camera man) feel like he is being redundant when he is explaining what he is making, pls dont cut him off when he(Scott) does that Mr"CameraMan"/Mr"editor". Its relaxing when he does redundantly explain, like ASMR, but its not asmr.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ S/o from South Africa 🇿🇦
Wow , I'm totally amazed by the amount of craftsmanship that is is your shop and the experience your employees have . Great Crew, outstanding Car Builders.👍
Im glad i found this video ive seen this car on instagram. Metalwork like this has always amazed me. I absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing. I have always thought Corvairs have a great shape/lines. This ones gonna be special.
I love watching your videos because I'm amazed at how y'all take the time to make sure everything lines up so when you look at the finished profile it flows. Like I've said before and I'll say it time and time again quality work is very rare this day and age. Y'all are that rarity that loves what you do and cares about what the customer really wants In the finished product. Great work, your the best artists in your field of work.
Thanks 🙏🏼. Appreciate you watching and the kind words. We’re lucky to have clients that can support what we do and the time this kind of work requires.
When this project is done, I will definitely want a shirt with the Corvair on it, it's looking really bad ass, Scott is doing an amazing job, very impressed, you have an amazing employee working there.🤘
We'll try to have one teed up! Definitely want to make sure any last minute changes get accurately represented though, so need to wait for the process to play out...
I’m really interested in seeing how you blend that wheel arch into the fender and making the intersections seamless. I’ve always wanted to see how two panels welded together look like they were stamped that way. Very exciting.
We'll try to show the metal finishing processing after the panel is welded up. The real old school guys use guide coat, metal files, and a bullseye pick with a little hammer/dolly work. We typically use all of those, but swap out the metal files for abrasives. Getting the weld right is really important as well, because you want to make sure you put as little heat into the panels as possible to avoid warping them. A bit nerve wracking after spending so much time getting the shape of the panel just right.
Thanks for watching! Tim works his butt off to make these for you all, but he’s a one man band - share the channel so we can hire him an editor! Then we’ll be able to bring you a ton more content.
Damn Lucky, make that metal submit! "Future Lucky" has to replicate that panel for the other side.... I feel bad for "Future Lucky," he's got to be as good as Past Luck was. Tough act to follow! 😁
@@ClassicCarStudioCome on now ,lol. I'd looked at a sky blue n white convert once for $350 clean . Also I think 67? Monza but was bid beyond my interest
If u use flat dies in the bead roller on top and bottom and go back and forth with pressure applied you can easily stretch that lip around. Or hammer form it.
I know they’ve used the bread roller like that in stuff like flanges in the past. And it’s probably Scott’s favorite tool… will have to ask why he didn’t use it here.
I'm as novice as you can get and apart from the skills you're applying right here on my screen .You know this is school for one me and I most definitely appreciate how you explained your method cause one could almost see it before the panel was done. What grammatical errors 🤬
Everyone's got to start somewhere, and if you're interested in this stuff (metal shaping & fabrication), there's a great community for it in the car world. Don't be afraid to get started, the best guys won't be judgemental of your work but will help you get better.

@@tawildt Just joking around with you on the helmet. A buck is a great idea, and something we would have used if the design weren't so heavily based on the existing fenders.
"You gotta find the limit to your skill level." (Scott's skill level - LIMITLESS!!)
Ikr!! The guy literally performs magic on metal. Amazing work.
Scott is a metal magician..He’s already made that panel in his mind, then just repeats it in real life..
Gun technician 💪
It may look that way, but he's always trying to push the limits. The guy is literally here on the weekends working metal for his own cars.
No matter how many of these videos I watch I'm still amazed by the talent these guys possess. OUTSTANDING WORK AS ALWAYS.
What an art! This is great stuff. Thanks for the videos and teaching.

Good to see that after the fad of builder shows that were regurgitated out, there's still credible, talented craftsman working to that 10th level.
Keep on teaching! Love It!

You could only imagine what would be available today, if most of these car manufacturers employed stylists like these guys. 👍

IM HOCKED 😎 ! A true craftsmanship series,keep that coming 🫡
that is gonna be a sweet build, I am having trouble being patient enough for the progress! Wonderful craftsmanship.

Maybe they’ve said this, but all I can think is this is the American 911 killer.
Would have been interesting where the Corvair could have evolved to had Nader not been its undoing.

panel looks beautiful , any more work and you create problems !
Have a look at "The Widest V8 MGB GT In The World" and Retropower cars for more of the same
💯👏
As a past bodyman, I would have suggested starting with a new Camaro quarter panel and customizing it.... How ever new quarters are too thin....
Definitely not a bad idea. Some old school hot rodding tricks right there!
18:02 rember you can only look at one side of the car at the same time so close is good enuff
👌
👍
You should shorten the wheelbase to make a 2 seater coupe. The wheel well should be just behind the door.
It’s going to be a two seater. We need the space in the back for the air ducts for the cooling system.

What gauge of steel do you use for most of your panels?
19 gauge
16 if it's something that needs to be more structural.
Pull the camera back a bit so we can see how the lines are working
Good idea, Tim already has the next Corvair video in the can, if it's not shown in there, we'll make sure to get a shot in the video after that. 👍🏻
