    New LUFS peaks display mode is a game changer for podcasting imo. Love it! From now on I will diplay peaks in items above -20 LUFS short-term which is my preference for vocal as reference. Make my work even easier because I don't need to watch the Master anymore :)

    As a post audio guy who does features everyday, that LUF’s waveform is amazing. This will significantly cut my pre-mixing in half. I could focus on the hotspots first, and do a second pass rather than listening and constantly checking levels. Pair this with Dry-run renders, Youlean, and this will make gain staging less tedious!

    Love your videos! When there’s an update I’m always watching your “what’s new” 👌🏻
    Question: does anybody know if there’s a way on showing RMS in every track together with peak values like in Ableton? I know you can do it in the master track but I want it in every track to have it like that in default and not having to flip between peak and RMS values or to have to put plugins in track to be able to see it. That would be an amazing feature.
    Thanks!

    I have been searching the answer to opne specific Reaper topic, but got no luck so far.
    Perhaps you can advise on how to export MIDI clips in such a way that when importing them back into Reaper, they remain the same length. Currently, I'm puzzled why some MIDI clips are shorter when re-imported than they were originally. Surely, there must be some trick here that I'm not immediately grasping. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Reaper keeps updating and thats a good thing but it becomes a problem when they're constantly updating it with features that more than 90% of the users will never use and neglect the features that the users will actually use. It seems like they're dedicated to making reaper more and more finiky.
    For example...
    1. Its been ages and still no update has provided a way to freeze tracks with ara.
    2. They still haven't made RS5K tabable so it can be used a drum rack instrument in a much easier way and from one instance.
    3. No attention has been given to the appearance of Reaper. The DAW and its Plugins look like childsplay when pulled up in the presence of clients.
    4. Worthy scripts are still not being made stock functionalities.
    5. Theres still no way to make a track completely mono. Even if the track contains a mono audio file, if you load a plugin thats supposed to automatically detect the track as a mono track and load in mono, it would still load stereo.
    There are a lot more features out there that people would actually use in Reaper but they're constantly ignored in favour features that nobody uses.

    • @MatthewBagar
      @MatthewBagar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly... I can't even remember the last time I updated Reaper because the updates include completely useless "improvements." I don't need completely mono tracks or the option to choose mono/stereo plugins. I tried Cubase once, sent a master to the client, and realized my stereo OH track had a stupid mono EQ... I'd prefer if they only kept stereo tracks. However, if they added a mono button to the mixer for all tracks like the master has, that would be great. Also.. I read about this request six years ago, made three topics about it, but got no replies - it's about free plugin positioning in the mixer. Who thought it was a good idea to have plugins automatically snap to the last position? WHY???!!! So many people have requested the ability to insert a plugin wherever they want in a mixer... I really don't understand why they don't listen to users. Instead, they're implementing absolutely useless functionalities, and I'm starting to get sick of it.

      Totally agree. Like windows 11 where they keep fiddling with menu layouts etc but (for example) windows audio is STILL dogpoo.

    • @dePUNDIT
      @dePUNDIT 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have seriously grown tired of it. I have used Reaper since 2014 and now, I am seriously considering making the jump to Cubase13, Studio One 6 or Reason 12. Those DAWS put your mind in the mood to actually make music. 20 to 30 minutes into using Reaper, you'll find yourself fiddling with one customisation setting or the other to make it look better and feel better too. it's a huge distraction and they are adding more to it.

    • @rano12321
      @rano12321 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      RS5K definitely needs some deserved updates but meanwhile I'd recommend using RS5K manager to create drum racks. For me it works as flawlessly as any other stock features in Reaper.
      I'm not sure if I'd agree with the statement that 'no attention was given to the appearance of Reaper', the default Reaper theme was made by WhiteTie who also designs plugins for SSL and other companies lol. And if you are talking about ReaPlugs, like ReaEQ or ReaComp etc. those will not get any updates in future most likely, in the future it will all be JSFX plugins and for now my gotos are the Tukan plugins and if your client cares about pretty looking UI then use the Tukan or any other pretty looking UI plugins in front of them and then use whatever works the best when you're working by yourself. And when it comes to other parts, they recently redesigned the envelope manager and when it comes to dark mode, they are working on the windows version, it's already supported on macos.
      And when it comes to scripts, unless majority users start using it, those won't likely get integrated as they serve their purpose of being community made scripts.
      If you have anymore complaints or feature requests, I'd recommend posting them on the Reaper Forum instead of YT comments as the devs would be more likely to checkout there than other places.

    Is there any way of getting a live DJ x-fader working. I tried with ganging adjacent tracks and reversing the fader movement on one, but it was all linear, so if you zero one fader the other maxes, rather than going back to 0dB, and ditto in the reverse direction. Needs to operate between 0dB and -inf dB.

    • @rano12321
      @rano12321 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Reaper is all about hundreds of incremental updates over the years than handful of major updates few times as it's less disruptive to your workflow. But if you combine all of the incremental updates between major versions then it's way more than most other DAWs. Reaper comes with two types of plugins, ReaPlugs and JSFX. ReaPlugs were last updates in 2016 and they are considered legacy and will not be updated anymore most likely but Reaper also has Jsfx which lets official devs and other people to create plugins for Reaper much faster and quicker with less code than VST, so in future pretty much all of the stock plugins in Reaper would be JSFX plugins but there are hundreds of JSFX plugins already exist in Reapack so check them out, like the Tukan plugins which already have ui comparable to other commercial plugins, it also has dynamic eq. If you are talking about Vari audio in Cubase, Reaper comes with ReaTune which lets you do basically the same.
      And when it comes to built in instruments Reaper comes with ReaSynth which is very basic synth and I'd love them to make more stock instruments as well but reaper has only 2 devs and imo they should focus more on developing the daw rather than developing stock plugins as most people put a lot of value on stock plugins of a daw but never use it as there are thousands if not millions of free plugins on the internet as well.

    • @ranajoyshil
      @ranajoyshil หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The ReaPlugs in Reaper won't get any updates in the future as it all Jsfx now and in the future and there are already 1000s of Jsfx you can use like the Tukan plugins which has great UI and functionalities like dynamic eq. For pitch editing, Reaper comes with ReaTune and there are already thousands of free instruments on the internet because most people talk about stock plugins and then never use it but I'd love to see some updates to the ReaSynth as well.

  • @MatthewBagar
    @MatthewBagar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Is there any chance they'll finally implement free plugin positioning in the mixer? So many people have asked for this, but it seems like the developers just aren't listening. The first time I saw a request for this functionality was back in 2017 - that's seven years ago. Since then, I've seen countless others asking for it, and not a single reply. Plugins automatically snapping to the last position is a productivity killer, especially when using plugins like Pie or Auto-Align that need to be in the last position every time. Adding plugins and then constantly rearranging them is just a waste of time.

    • @TheREAPERBlog
      @TheREAPERBlog  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      i don't think it will happen, but you never know. I think I saw requests even in 2009 for that.

    3 Bass ( electronic aswell as a genuine bass vst - this last one has neither studio one which is also unfortunate )
    4 better EQ, DYNAMICS and the likes vst rather then that 1990 interface
    5 a good Piano Vst
    6 Strings and symphonic vst
    7 a vocalstrip or chanelstrip or a Inspector similar like Studio one
    if it had those and more that DAW will be a powerfull one and probably even better then Studio one and i am sure peiple would pay for it more then 25USD if it had said features
    this is why i deinstalled the trial version from my system because i had to use way to many 3rd party vst for making simple drumloops and bassloops

      Use whatever works for you, Reaper is developed by only 2 people and it costs a fraction of S1. When it comes to stock plugins, most people would put a lot of value into it but then majority of them don't use it so they always end up wasting resources and space in most people's computers.
      And when it comes to the stuff you're talking about Reaper has everything you mentioned. Reaper has the most powerful scripting out of any daw so it has tons of community made scripts and jsfx plugins, like it has RS5K manager for drum machine, also Tukan plugins which are jsfx plugins (in reapack) has a lot of stuffs you're talking about, and when it comes to synths and other instruments there are at least millions of free instruments that can be found online which would always end up being far superior than most stock plugins of most DAWs and about channel strip or vocal chain, you can create any channel strip as you'd like and save them as fx chains to recall them anytime you'd need them. You should look up some stuff before making comments like this. Goodluck.

      @@rano12321 i wish i could talk to the developers and tell em as a semiproffesional what could be included in a payed version and truely i would pay more then the 25 Bucks because the overall look and workflow were indeed amazing. Thank you for the words you said...maybe i should ggive it a second chanxce and try it again

    I have no doubt that Reaper is a great DAW. But I just find this grey, overloaded UI horrible. It would take away any inspiration.

      That's on you. You can change and customize a lot of stuff or get whole premade themes for free. He is a Reaper Nerd, ofc his one looks super crazy, because he can. If anything, his theme should pretty much show, that Reaper can be whatever you want it to be. You can even have less elements.
      So yeah, your point is invalid, due to lack of quick researchz which is ironic on itself, seeing on a channel about nerding about reaper.
      I say that with all respect, no hate.
