That’s so sweet!!! I’ve dreamed of walking down the aisle to this song one day, or having it as my first dance with my future husband, so glad you guys got to have that 💖
I was tasked with picking the song to exit my wedding… tomorrow. I chose this. Here I am on the other side of it one day later. It was a beautiful ceremony capped off with a song nobody but me and my wife and brother noticed over the cheers lol. I wouldn’t change a thing
A colleague played it at my wedding. My friends mocked me a bit afterwards, because they felt as if it is implied that he'll hit the road as soon as the girl falls asleep, but f em. I still think it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and i do think you can interpret it both ways.
Townes is a true unsung American Icon. He had some serious baggage for sure, that doesn't discount his talent for prose and song. Always touches home to some degree.
When you think youve heard everything old country music has to offer and then you find yet another of the best songwriters and singers to have ever lived. Such beautiful songs this true legend has made.
MY HUSBAND PLAYED THIS SONG FOR ME WITH A VERY VERY CLOSE FRIEND LAMA FROM TIBET HERE IN AUSTRALIA AS A REFUGEE XXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOO. ps 50 plus years married 6 kids girls boys now grandkids too. XXXXXXXOOOOOOO THANK YOU T V Z THANK UTUBE TOO,SO HEARTFELT SO TRUE. MRS JENNIFER C PIPER.
I don’t understand it fr how come nobody see it’s the top of the panicle of poetry and lyricism? Name someone to mess with him as far as expression of complex emotions😂 There is someone that really tops him as in portrayal of melancholy and deep bittersweet feelings? Does it really get MUCH better than this for him to get 30 comments per song? This is just craziness. Another Van Gogh myth happening right before our eyes😂
Dam it’s crazy that now I’m here without you jenna I thought we’ll be together forever and the Kids we’ll raise and this song that played in my head because we both feared each other just not being there when waking up it’s weird I miss you a lot girl
The song hits me the most. only because I grew up being an extrovert traveling my whole life and when I fell in love with my fiancé. I felt so conflicted because my heart still wanted to travel. But as the song says “you’re softest whisper is louder than the highways that call to me” at the end of the day all the mountains in the rivers and the valleys can’t compare to the girl I have here.. The song will eventually be in our wedding. Townes Van Zandt always knew how to work things as he is one of the best song writers and artists of our time.
@@wildro95 I know the feeling so well. And I think my wife does too. We've been married for 20 yrs now and we BOTH want to hit the road after working hard so long, immigration (on my part), college, work, and what not... but there are responsibilities... parents, less fortunate fam. members...so we can't FULLY hit the road yet. Best you can do is to compromise and enjoy the "road" as best as you can - we hike and run together and travel the world whenever we can. I am sure you guys will find a way. Listen to "Highway Kind" by TVZ. It takes you further even, along the same lines...and hits even harder than this song, at least in my case...esp the 2nd and last verses. Love to you both.
Well there's no stronger wind than the one that blows down a lonesome railroad line No prettier sight than lookin' back on a town you left behind But there's nothin' that's as real as a love that's in my mind Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while Well there's lots of things along the road I'd surely like to see I'd like to lean into the wind and tell myself I'm free But your softest whisper's louder than the highway's call to me Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while All the mountains and the rivers and the valleys can't compare To your blue lit dancin' eyes and yellow shining hair I could never hit the open road and leave you lyin' there Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while Ah lay your head back easy, love, close your cryin' eyes I'll be layin' here beside you when the sun comes on the rise I'll stay as long as the cuckoo wails and the lonesome blue jay cries Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while Close your eyes I'll be here in the morning Close your eyes I'll be here for a while
My best friend and I would play this together and I have a video of us singing this for karaoke but we where so drunk, we could barely stand. It’s almost been a year since she died
My dad introduced me to Townes a couple years ago through heartworn highways I still love this song and Pancho and lefty all these years later Thanks dad. - Rooks
Came here through a tic toc video on the late Daniel Stanwood Hartman. Tragic life, but he is immortal through his songs. Surprised to note that there aren't many fans here.
My wife walked down the aisle to this song at our wedding. I cry every time I hear it.
That’s so sweet!!! I’ve dreamed of walking down the aisle to this song one day, or having it as my first dance with my future husband, so glad you guys got to have that 💖
I feel you. if u could GET back in time... you wouldnt do such a stupid thing( marriage) greetings from 🇧🇷
Is marriage that bad 😂😂

acabei de chegar por esse msmo motivo
Acabei de vir por esse mesmo motivo😅❤
Foi o Bastião que me trouxe aqui. 👏👏👏😳
Eu também 😂
🙋🏻♂️
também kkkk❤
I love that he wrote the opposite of a "ramblin man" song. One of those needed to be written.
Maybe! The minor chord at the end of the refrain always make me wonder, though...Will he really be there in the morning??
You are right he chose music and life on road every time .
Townes was a rambler and hated it about himself. It’s an ideal of what he wanted, but could never achieve.
@@runcarabao brilliant observation…
“Your softest whisper’s louder than the highway’s call to me.”
people don't understand the beauty of this line.
You do and I have an inkling
Vim pelo Bastião kkk 🐕
My parents bailed when I was little. I sing this now to my own babies.
Yep
Set the standard as a parent
That is beautiful
Such a sweet song from a sweet & troubled man.
Também pelo Bastião. ❤
Aqui pelo Bastião❤
Townes is a true unsung American Icon. He had some serious baggage for sure, that doesn't discount his talent for prose and song. Always touches home to some degree.
Absolutely.
I'll drink to that, but seriously, you are correct about his talent for prose and song.
"Will you come to me", the finest bitter-sweet creation.
TBF he mostly only harmed himself intentionally though other's were hurt by his actions before (nothing to bad interms of country musicians even).
All the greats have the struggle. He wouldn’t be the same songwriter without it.
O cão bastiao me mandou vim aqui ❤
Best songwriter ever period
My Father loved this song. I lost him I'm a car wreck not to long ago i will be playing this song at his memorial.
:( R.I.P
I hope that you find comfort in this song, may he rest in peace.
I'm so sorry, my friend. may you always remember the good times, and know your father loved you more than you can know.
What a beautiful memorial. Great music is timeless. Just like the memories of our loved ones. ❤️
Your father would be honored

May the creator bless you and yours
You too 🙏
Great, great singer/songwriter 🎼🎵🎶
He was enormously talented but remained largely unknown and underexposed.
Every one of his songs is special.

Just discovered Townes Van Zandt... and this tune. To whomever shared this.... Thank You.... Havin a hard time holding back the tears.
I named my son Townes- inspo from this legend 🩵
As a former hobo this song hits home for me big time.
"Close your eyes, I'll be here in the morning......." 🎵🌸💗🌸🎵
"Close your eyes, I'll be here for a while......." 🎵🌸💗🌸🎵
This might just be the most beautiful song ever written.
Seriously, only 15 comments!?!? Ppl need to get it together. FR
They took down the version with a million comments after this song played on Euphoria

For me, it's Townes and Marty Robbins. Their songs hit my soul.

Another beautiful but haunting song from one of the best. The mythological undeniably talented Townes.

Well there's no stronger wind than the one that blows down a lonesome railroad line
No prettier sight than lookin' back on a town you left behind
But there's nothin' that's as real as a love that's in my mind
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
Well there's lots of things along the road I'd surely like to see
I'd like to lean into the wind and tell myself I'm free
But your softest whisper's louder than the highway's call to me
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
All the mountains and the rivers and the valleys can't compare
To your blue lit dancin' eyes and yellow shining hair
I could never hit the open road and leave you lyin' there
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
Ah lay your head back easy, love, close your cryin' eyes
I'll be layin' here beside you when the sun comes on the rise
I'll stay as long as the cuckoo wails and the lonesome blue jay cries
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
Close your eyes
I'll be here in the morning
Close your eyes
I'll be here for a while
Didn't realised how great this guy was until now ❤️ surely among the greatest songwriter ever 👏
Dylan certainly thought so.
Most certainly one of America's greatest songwriters
I imagine this song to be about my dog. My dude. My bruh. And I can't help but cry. Hell be here for a while. 😢
Perfect lyricist, such a magnificent storyteller
Pure
A beautiful song. A true poet, philosopher and great composer.
One of those songs that just knocks you out. Beautiful.

"I'll be here". It's what makes it such a sweet song. I think of it when I watch my little boy fall asleep.

He died on New Years 1997, hank Williams died on New Years 1953
