When I was growing u , my mother would put any bit of vegetables into a freezer container and freeze it. When that freezer container got full, she would thaw it out and put it in a pot along with a can of tomatoes and ground beef. She would let it simmer for a while and then he would put some elbow macaroni i and cook till the macaroni was tender. I called it Kitchen sink soup because everything, but the sink went into it. It always tasted good.

Looks good. They say if you buy garlic, make sure it has roots. Thanks for sharing.

    Looks delicious!
I had to laugh…. I’ve always used the same glass “pie plates” (mine are Pyrex in a variety of colors!) as dinner dishes when serving food like pasta or stews to my sons and husband. My oldest son got married a few years ago and he recently told my daughter-in-law they needed to get some deep dishes like I have for pasta/stews because the “flat dinner dishes” they have aren’t big enough! LOL

Here is a quick meal: yellow squash sliced or chopped, sautéed in butter or oil, and then throw in some scrambled eggs, salt, pepper, maybe some hot sauce and cook until you say they are done. Quick and easy. I am not a lover of veggies at all, but this is delicious!

Making this for dinner today, the smell makes your life water :D instead of celery i used my lovage leaves, i still have a few weeks before i pull my celery up for canning and drying and freezing, first time ever growing celery, the taste of home grown celery is so energetic and bright and vibrant, you just cannot find that in your normal stores, the garden is where its at, and the nutrition is far superior :D thank you for all of your amazing content for real people :D been watching and taking notes for about a decade i think now, i remember listening to all you honey hour homestead girls and what a big influence you have all been in my little neck of the woods. much love and many blessings

Back in 2020, when I started canning, my son-in-law's garden was producing A bumper crops of zucchini and yellow squash. I made them into dill pickles and bread and butter pickles. Very tasty.

@@cheryl121152 you can use the yellow squash for relish, too. I rebel canned some yellow squash last year and they held their shape nicely. I was given over a bushel of yellow squash and one can only make so much relish. 😊

I always peel my yellow squash unless they are very young/small and smooth. The older and bumpier they are, the tougher the skin is. Besides, that's what my dad always did.

when I am making soup or broth and want it darker.. I add a little bit of cool coffee... instead of soya sauce.. because soya has so much salt..I also use a dash of Worcestershire sauce in most things
