This was absolutely amazing! I came across this after the tomb after the Seven Farmers side quest. Bayek is actually told about Desmond in a Precursor message!

Yes Ubisoft. You should in fact build a character through 5 games with amazing storylines of powerful characters, then instead of proceding with an end game scenerio where that person is finally ready to accomplish himself and take his place up there with the legends, you should kick the whole thing to the curb with an unfulfilling, empty death scene, in order to prolong the lifespan of this money making machine.
THEN, after ignoring him for many games, you should talk about that one character to remind us what an infuriating gold digger you are.
Pardon my rant. I loved Ezio and Altair. I loved Yusuf Tazim and so many others. This could have been such a legendary franchise with an epic finale. The legend was ended with Desmond's storyline because Ubisoft is run by greedy idiots. The games that came after, which served to no tangible end regarding where the overall story was going, were simply redundant.

The Seer Lol origins is ok but odyssey is a fucking joke, the lore has been completely fucked over and ubisoft just goes “hurr hurr ye greek gods real and uh ignore the part about the ones that came before and uhh this game is AC because the main villains are the ones that created the knights templar hurr hurr hurr.”
Although origins was a good game, the AC creed franchise hasnt been the same since Desmond died or didn't die. Ubi Soft tries to say his story ended and yet he is still mentioned in every game. They just need to bring him back so that the heart of this franchise can come back.

I loved this moment when I stumbled upon it. 1. I think Bayek himself heard all of these first civ talks and understood them. Well, the words at least, not all the meaning. Same way as Ezio heard and saw Desmond in ACR. 2. Actually the point about time not being a straight line is a pretty interesting concept that was brilliantly realized in 12 monkes tv-show (not single movie).

The problem with these messages is that they have a point, but it isn't told in a mysterious way. If you compare the part when she is listing the points in history about humans developing weapons like the V2's, and then reaches to the Doomsday clock. Wouldn't it have been much creepier and more interesting if she did it more like the cluster puzzle in ACBrotherhood? There is a segment when this dull creepy robotic voice and lists these dates. When they're all listed, she says "This does not make sense...emotion inhibitors activated...now I understand" meaning that all of the dates listed represented thos tragic catastrophic points in history, such as 1939 meaing WW2 and 2001 refferring to 9/11

AC 1 through Revelations was so good, with such a great build up. It really felt like this unfolding epic narrative. And then, in addition to being merely okay, AC 3 pissed away the entire franchise's goodwill with its ending, shoveling Desmond into an inglorious pit while mocking his sacrifice by creating the Juno plotline...ONLY TO HAVE IT FINISHED IN THE COMICS.
I mean, the fucking BALLS on Ubisoft. I actually really like the look of Origins, but I still can't bring myself to get it for fear of having my heart broken yet again.

My biggest gripe Is the retconning they did to the assassin's origins. It was pretty clear before that the order was made pretty much during the first Civ. But nope they make this stupid hidden ones and order of the ancients even though both groups were clearly older than ancient Egypt before

My question is in AC3, Minerva said that she could see two possibilities about the world's end. It was up to Desmond either he should activate the machine and save the world or let the world burn and from the remaining survivors build another civilization. But here the message says Desmond WILL save the world and everyone will go on not knowing anything, like it was absolutely sure about the future.
This is AC lore buddy. Don't expect to find any kind of logical consistency in it.

oddly enough that's what this message sounded like. there was some very detailed information contained from within that message about 2012. first civ tech has never been this accurate or detailed of the future. but not only that, but the language which was spoken was modern day English. not ancient civ speak like we are used to like in the other games.
which would only mean that another cycle was started at some point. and this message was sent from 2012, and because they understood that the world that they knew would end. this message was left for the future generations. i know this looks like it's in the past. but i believe it's really the present based off of the message that was left for byak.

I am quite pissed off that they chose to opt most of the modern storyline out of the games and continue it in the comics, then do this half-assed job of trying to force the animus thingy back into the main game so it's still somewhat relevant with the first few games (Desmond Saga)

To me I loved the modern day timeline and especially when you get into action as Desmond (AC3 I'm looking at you yo), but that might be one of the reasons why they chose to continue it in the comics instead of the main game. Or maybe they just couldn't figure a better way to balance out both Animus simulation gameplay and modern day gameplay yet, and just decided to throw all of it out of the window and do only cutscenes for modern timeline, who knows. *shrugs*

Imo it's a bit of a letdown that Bayek/Layla don't react to those messages and that it doesn't have any impact on the story. If I listened to such messages coming from a civilization that is clearly far more advanced than mine I would freak out! Even after finding the precursor temple in Siwa nobody in the game seems to bother...

i feel like Desmond’s ancestors hearing all this can change how things originally went and he is going to know what would happen and them going back in time and showing this can change the future of the story and how things went. i know what i’m saying probably doesn’t make sense. but i feel like everything going on can lead up to when Desmond started using the anoymous or however u spell it and Desmonds name would be passed on by his ancestors and he would find out his fate and find a way to change it. like a restart to Desmonds legacy and things go completely different. it’s complicated to understand but it’s just a thought

I think they should keep Desmond Miles dead, it makes it so real. People say bring him back, yea he was fundamentally important in the Assassin Creed Game because of his Convergence DNA with a high DNA content of the first Civ. I think its more surreal if he comes back alive and then slaughters all of the templars, its like when Juno died from the hands of the Charlotte (assassin), I expected that Desmond would kill her.
So does this mean that the first civilization:
1. knew the future based on the advanced algorithm?
2. Used time travel or something similar to embed messages and then implant them on the DNA of the selected family.
3. A catastrophe occurred and the technology of the first civilization is so advanced because it was in fact the last civilization and time is circular and always repeating and they are trying to change the events by inserting messages and calculate the changes that each message leads to like Desmond saving the world?

Rory MacRae from what I’m understanding from this whole “Time is relative” shtick this lady’s selling, Desmond saved the world with semi-time travel, and the catastrophes are time trying to correct itself because the world was supposed to end? I think the previous AC’s (I haven’t really played them myself so take this with a big grain of salt) implied that these messages are meant for the people using the animus? Honestly i am not high enough for this, sorry for being three months late to the convo tho
Tad Shepard Basically, the First Civilisation had the ability to view time in a different way to humans since they had a "sixth sense compared to our 5. We see time in the present moving from one event to the next, we can't see the future, the First Civ could actually see future events and predict them.
They saw the solar flare that wiped them out before it happened so they attempted to find away to stop it, they looked into every future outcome and it was always the same. The solar flare happens and destroy's the First Civ but humans survive, they also see that in 2012 a solar flare happens again causing the end of humanity. So they build devices that contain messages to Desmond to prevent the second flare. That was the original story but because of them seeing future events it starts to get messy.
Somehow after doing that we get this telling us that Desmond just bought them time and this extinction event HAS to happen. But if that's the case the original messages to Desmond don't make sense since they'd already know it doesn't work.
Anyway long story short, the end of the world has to happen, it's actually written in time as fate that it happens, the First Civ know this and are explaining it to Layla through Bayek's memories in the Animus. They looked into the future and knew this is where she would be so they built it for that specific reason.
Now in Odyssey you can make different decisions, it's a gameplay mechanic but the more reason is Layla is actually making these decisions from the animus in the future meaning she's actually altering the events. The story is leading to Layla being able to actually alter the original extinction and keep the First Civ from being made extinct. That's what the messages are leading her to.

Exactly. Origins had me so excited, especially with these segments. It's like they were completely ignoring Desmond and present day segments in the other games, and now finally they're referencing. Now Odyssey is just..egh. I wish they would've just stuck with Bayek.
FanCustomHero Well Unisoft is trying to take a new turn on the series turning it into RPG game and maybe odyssey might have some ties to the assassins somehow. You cant say you dislike a game unless you watch alot of gameplay or you played it yourself so it might be good if you try it when it comes out🤷🏾♂️

I'm pretty sure you can say you dislike a game if everything about it - all that made it what it is - has changed.
They seemingly abandoned the story and changed every aspect of the gameplay (be it for better or for worse). It might be a nice game on its own, but the recent games are difficult to pass as AC titles when everything iconic has been tossed aside.
Imagine playing Need for Speed, except instead of racing now it's about finding motor engine-related puzzles in a jungle.

These messages make a lot more sense now that I've played some of the other AC games. Origins was my first introduction to the series and there was a lot of stuff I didn't understand. Maybe I should play it again after finishing all the other games just to see all the things I missed in my first playthrough.

Desmond needs to come back, I’m hoping that in odyssey they will find some piece of eden or some other way to bring him back, when you combine Ancient Greece with the fact that the assassins haven’t even started yet, it seems like the chances are pretty high that Desmond will be back, heaven knows that without assassins the animus story will suck balls so the only way to make it worth while is to get Desmond back, however, they could also be making it only an animus game with no present day character or they could just not bring Desmond back, either way, the only way for assassins creed to stay alive is to bring him back somehow

I only have one problem with this, how can you have a device, stored in a tomb in the first century BC, that has information relevant to something that, from that point in time, will happen almost 2 millennia after the "present", and narrated by a voice in past tense, which means that the voice itself is from farther away in history.?
Edit: even if they, as in the Fist Civilization, have somehow mastered the ability to create a mathematical function to predict certian events in history, that leaves even more questions. If they knew about the first solar flare with huge andance, why weren't they able to stop it?
undead9999 they predicted the natural event of the solar flare. After that they did what they could to survive but it was too late to do anything. Their only choice was to face extintion. It took 2000 years for the solution to be ready, that was the temples that grew by themselves and were ready for 2012.
