This was a great video, I can’t imagine how much research went into this one going back so many years and pulling out so many articles. You continue to get more confident with each video and this one had the perfect balance of facts and your own opinions. Black Adam definitely peeked my interest a few years ago, but with so many delays I waited until it was on streaming services to watch. I’m sure it was a big blow to the Rock, because as you pointed out this was his dream film. Overall, I thought it was fun but definitely not great
I seriously appreciate that! I think what made it so much more disappointing is how hyped up it was. This man brought back Superman and was hyping up them fighting like it was a boxing match then Zaslov hired new CEOs and they said “nah”😂😂😂
honestly i think the biggest reason for the fall of this movie was just Johnsons ego He wanted to play Black Adam, a Shazam villain. But he didn't want to fight Shazam, he wanted to fight Superman, because he's a higher profile superhero. But instead of trying to try for the role of a Superman villain so he *could* fight Superman, he still stuck to just wanting to be Black Adam. He wanted the clout of playing a character that fights Superman but didn't want to play a character who would realistically fight Superman, because to him black adam was cooler than any Superman villain
Awesome video. Thanks for taking the effort to make it. I can tell you’re a huge superhero fan. Subscribed. Keep it up and you’ll be pulling huge numbers. You’ve got a really calming voice too.
I feel the same way about waiting to see these movies at this point. Somehow after making so many superhero movies they still don’t have the formula down.
This didn't age well whatsoever. In the end out of Shazam 2, Black Adam and The Flash Black Adam ended up being the best Movie out of the 3 and it also made the most money out of 3. The Rock dodged a Bullet not associating himself with those two Movies. That's what happens when you talk to early😂😂
If Shazam 2 does well it'll be the only side of the DCEU that goes out on a positive note without any flops or behind the scenes disaster. That'll be 17 types of poetic irony if it happens.
When seeing the Black Adam trailer, in one of the clips I thought I saw Mr.Traffic but it was Hawkman jumping put of the hawker. It really would have been cool to see Mr.Traffic in the big screen.
I feel like DC higher ups let the Black Adam movie finally happen and have Cavil be Superman one more time to shut them up so they can push forward rebooting everything but not have the heat on them for not allowing a fan wanted movie to finally come out. I feel like Black Adam could be a decent start to the universe like how the Hulk movies are technically MCU but they don't really refer to them. Plus with the announcement of Green Lantern being a show [which I feel fits better for adding multiple lanterns] I'm going to be cautious with each release now. So far the only DC movies I have fully liked were Aquaman and Black Adam.
I think Black Adam definitely could’ve been the start of something interesting, especially with the JSA, but what Gunn is doing seems more organized and makes more sense even if the first chapter is weird in my opinion. The guy that bought Warner wanted to focus on DC and I think he was willing to give the keys to the first person that came to him with a plan. To me, it seemed like the Rock was first but then Gunn and Safari took over.
Basically Dwayne Johnson wasted 15 years of his life just to bring Black Adam to the big screen and play the character but got overshadowed by the reboot that dosen't involve him in future DC projects. I didn't know that he worked on this movie for years now. I've always wanted to see his version of Black Adam fighting against Zachary Levi's Shazam but now this is such a misopportunity. I assume Zachary Levi will not play Shazam anymore for the reboot as the character already interact with some characters of the DCEU namely Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman (which it was confirmed that the entire Justice League cast will get recasted).
I know there are more movies coming out for the DCEU (Shazam 2 and The Flash at least), but Black Adam really does feel like the perfect way to send off such a botched, rushed, passionless attempt at a universe. Cavill deserved better. The Rock's ego got him exactly what was coming to him.
There’s also Aquaman 2 and Blue Beetle which is kind of crazy😂 You’re not wrong though, it feels like this is what you get when you start a cinematic universe for the sake of competing rather than for the sake of the story.
It literally did save DCEU. Look at it's box office compare to everything else that was released post-Aquaman (which was helped by Momoa publicly supporting Snyder cut release during 2018 premier). Literally highest they ever could, and actually broke even. Unlike total complete flops that were before Black Adam and will be since. Because nobody cares about brand that only likes to punish it's paying base, but favors everything else. You would think by Now they'd learn from all of this, but no, they continue downward spiral.
Who wants to watch an Anti Hero that can't lose? Even Superman gets beat on a bad day, but we're supposed to believe Magic Man's palette swap is completely untouchable? Honestly just knowing the Rock has that clause just takes me out of any serious action movie with his name attached. Where are the stakes? The hard earned triumph? No thanks.
according to box office the movie didnt do to wel but i seen it and its pretty good,in my oppinion they did him and henry dirty, they set up the movie for a quick buck but fucked them both over right after. regardles of the budget 380 million box office is desent.
