This is my personal opinion. Lex Luthor is one of the greatest villains in comics. So complex...even when he loses, he wins. The Timmverse Animated version is the perfect reflection of what he could be. If Warner Bros. could get their act together he could potentially strengthen the DCU movies.
Problem is, for some reason we never really got a true live action version of Lex with his intelligence, charisma, evil mastermind. With the clear exception of Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum, they were all portrayed as caricatures. Lex Luthor is repelled by incompetency, thus he would never be surrounded by people like Ottis or Ms Taschmacher and he certainly would not act like the Ridler. Waste of talents such as Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey.
Rey Bat and in my opinion smallville gave us the best origin story for both lex and Clark as well their relationship from friends who respect the other to mortal enemies

ablurt_55 I actually thought for the longest time that Jesse Eisenberg wasn’t right for the role of Lex in BVS but now that I really look back at it I see that I’m not entirely right about him. In BVS it’s a modern take on a psychotic Businessman with Daddy issues. But like Lex he really did keep to the shadows to do his dirty work along with being incredibly manipulative. He plays the character well to how he was written in this story. His energetic personality is all a front to hide how cold and evil he really is. The movie may have been trash but they got their villain right for the most part. Can’t say much for the heroes tho :/
In Smallville they took Lex history and created the chacter of Lionel Luther and gave Lionel Lex Luther from the Comics orgin. Because in the comics since 1986 Post Criss on Infinity Earth Lex grew up poor in Sucide Slums. And lived with abusive parents. He was brilliant and academically talented. But was almost sociopathic. Who wanted to dominate and control others. Kind of like Lionel In the early smallville seasons untill Season 4. And when Lionel Become Jor El Vessel learning about Clark Superman history. It was Lex in the comics who arranged his parent's death to collect the insurance money to start his company. Lex Corp and which led him to become a billionaire but went from petty crime to upper class crimes . Although in the comics it was a car accident not a House fire. I loved Smallville Version of Lex history where his father was The Wealth white collar brutal upper class criminal who killed his parents and stared his company and bulit a billionaire empire rather than Lex. Who raised lex wanting him to become just as ruthless and a criminal like himself. It's even more credible than in the comics orgin

Tony is nothing but a reckless cocky ass idiot that is nothing but trouble
Batman is definitely smarter them in the strategy, combat, and detective realm, but in the engineering realm Ironman and lex have more money and tech to surpass him

Plus the fact that iron man HEAVILY relies on his suits! You take that suit off and his ass is cooked 🤣🤣.... honestly, when I think of lex I think of the justice league animated series version of him. that's honestly my favorite with how they showed how his obsession was literally killing him as he got kryptonite radiation poisoning from being exposed to it for years and years.

One of the best ideas DC ever had going into the modern age was the reimagining of Luthor as a highly intelligent and extremely corrupt business tycoon fueled by egomania. It made him a more two dimensional character and allowed for DC to take him in a myriad of different unexpected directions (clone Lex, the Contessa, Lena, President Luthor, Superboy, etc.) there just seemed to be a lot more they could do with Lex as a character as opposed to his Silver and Bronze Age incarnation which didn’t really give him a whole lot of depth aside from his backstory and the Lexor era
I would replace Tony with Reed Reed Richards is smarter And Batman would come in last if this was a smartest man competition, he's not as smart as Luther or Reed in science and engineering, but outsmarts them in strategy, tactics and detective skills
Meelo I would say Lex and Batman are quite equal. Batman actually has greater technological feats while Lex has more consistent. Lex also has greater chemistry feats while Batman is more consistent. The whole Lex Luthor is confirmed to be smarter by Geoff Johns is only Ozymandias implying Lex being the smartest. I won’t take that as granted as Superman has also stated that Batman is smarter than Lex. In Geoff Johns tweets, he simply stated that Bruce and Lex are the two smartest people above Terrific. Meanwhile Reed Richards is on a whole other level.
I have to say that I'm not a fan of the Battle Suit. A) It's just to close to Iron Man and B) Lex should be smart enough that he shouldn't have to even use that amount of brawn the suit needs. Even if they failed narratively, the way they tried to have Lex engage with the heroes is far superior imho.
