So glad I found this. Just had a CSpine MRI today because what my PCM thought was carpal tunnel, Phys Med thinks it’s a pinched nerve. Getting an EMG study in a couple weeks. I went in because I couldn’t do pushups or my yoga, hand was locking up, pain from should to wrist. And never thought that my scapula pain would be part of it. Gonna tell my med team about it
I’m having a similar issue. Can’t do push ups or yoga. I went to urgent care and they referred me to my chiro but still have symptoms in my neck, shoulder and numbness/tingling down my arm into my hand.
This is so helpful, I'm so glad I found it. Would you be able to explain how a pinched nerve in the neck that causes pain, numbness, weakness & tingling in the left arm could also cause the same in the left leg. I know they are connected, I just wanted to get your explanation.
Howdy. I do not have a history of neck injury. I am 51, healthy and fit. I was cleaning my wood boiler 4 days ago and it requires stooping down on the ground and putting one hand upward as I pull downwards with the other hand, all while kneeling on my knees and turning my head to look upwards and downwards continously. The next morning I felt a medium range discomfort in my left shoulder and neck. Here it is 4 days later with nearly the same discomfort. It is good at night until I've been laying down for more than 7 hours, then after I rise it worsens over a couple of hours of standing to do light household work. It gets so stiff where I can't look downwards more than 50% of usual motion, and 100% upward too, left, and right. When I do neck traction for 15 to 20 minutes with a towel, hanging upside down, or laying on my back level, it gets much better. Also dead hanging makes it better too. Then it returns. I have to repeat this throughout the day. It hurts in the middle of my neck, at the shoulder level, and sometimes across my left shoulder and upper arm, to look all the way down or up, and to look left, to stand for more than 45 minutes, etc. This must be a pinched nerve, correct? Since it retreats when I do the traction. Thank you!
@Claude_1303 yes it went away about 5 or 6 days later. Hanging from a pull-up bar for 10 to 20 seconds helped the most. Doing various other light stretches of neck and shoulders.
Mine is causing trigeminal neuralgia type pain in jaws, and all over head and face. Pins and needles in cheekbones area, forehead, etc. And burning sensations in my head in different spots depending on how I move Mt head/neck. I went to a physiologist...drove 2 hours through the warning alerts to stay home and went to Asheville the day before Hurricane Helene got bad. The doctor looked at an old MRI from 1.5 yrs before my neck injury and told me that it wasn't a pinched nerve, it was simply my fibromyalgia. 😐 He said it with a smirk so I think he enjoyed letting me down. Idk. I explained again that it gets worse and numbness goes down my arms when i turn my head and i feel pinching in my neck vertebrae. He said no, it's not my nerves in my neck, it's just my pain syndrome. I just said thank you and left. I went to a walk in orthopedic center and I was given 3 different types of meds...Meloxicam, Prednisone , and Flexeril. I was told to take these and do 6 weeks of PT before I can get an MRI. So I can't work or anything and sleeping is nearly impossible. I can't turn my head while driving. I feel hopeless. I can't even get an appointment with PT because their system was down from the hurricane. Couldn't get my meds filled. I already have a severe back injury that's changed my life dramatically and I have a benzo injury that's also ruined my life. I have fibromyalgia that is very severe. I can't believe I have this neck issue on top of it.
@staceypollack808 I'm very sorry. This boat is sinking. 😪 Actually I have good news...mine has been getting better. I even had an entire day with no symptoms. But they come back here and there. Maybe it will continue to improve. Hope yours does as well! It took 7 weeks before I saw improvement though.

I think have a pinched nerve in the middle left side of my neck. I think this because when I press on the spot it causes pain down my neck and left arm. It also creates a tingle in my left forearm and thumb. At random moments sitting down when I let me left arm hang, my bicep and left arm will get a tingle sensation. This all began six weeks ago from what I think was working out ? I'm nervous of permanent damage. I'm in the military and still conduct business as normal and try to manage the pain. Hi, this was so helpful! Thank you. I've had neck issues for years, and recently, I started getting numb fingers (on both hands but mostly the right hand), and sometimes the right foot. This has been accompanied by on and off neck and back pain. According to your experience, what would be a good place to start as far as seeking a diagnosis and treatment? Thanks in advance!

What about all those symptoms you described but also accompanied by twitching in the right eye, not just with the numbness/pains, but also happens randomly.. and sometimes I see sometimes burning feeling at the base of the skull to the mid neck.
This may be a really dumb question, but here goes. My GP is sending me to a physical therapist for pain in my shoulder. Can they actually know what is causing my pain without X-rays, MRIs, or tests that show inside your body/shoulder? My doc mentioned they will probably do ultrasound therapy. I'm short so I reached up to grip a handle to get ( up ) into a tall pickup and at the same time twisted to sit in the seat. My pain seems to travel around, from my neck < bottom of ear - front of the shoulder near collar bone - to my back next to the shoulder blade and even down that side of my chest.

Liked and subscribed! I'm feeling pretty frustrated right now. For over a year, I've been dealing with a nagging pain in my left trap, shoulder blade, and mid-back area. At first, it caused numbness in my thumb and index finger. After reviewing my MRI, the orthopedic specialist said there was some pinching in my spine and gave me an epidural shot, but unfortunately, it didn't help. Now, whenever I turn my head to the right and tuck my chin to my chest, I get a sharp pain. Could it be a tear? The pain is usually mild, but it flares up when I lift heavy. Any thoughts on what this might be?
@OrthoEvalPal I was told I have mild facet apathy . As well as mild levoconvex scoliosis . Is that causing the full pinched feeling in my neck and ache in my back?

The first orthopedic I saw said it was arthritis 🙄
This sounds more like a shoulder issue to me because if it was coming from your neck when somebody else lift your arm should not change the amount of pain
@@OrthoEvalPal MRI came back with a herniation and a bulge but they weren't impacting the nerve. Had an injection into the shoulder and its 90% better within two days. Still not sure what the issue is but ill take it. Appreciate the response!

Great thanks
You are welcome!

Neck pain upin the back of neck headache
Not necessarily. Could be just a facet joint being pinched.
@OrthoEvalPal I was told I have mild facet apathy . As well as mild levoconvex scoliosis . Is that causing the full pinched feeling in my neck and ache in my back?
