Oh Sweetie, You have solved my problem! Thank you so much. My youngest son who is 22 yrs old love foxes. I plan on making him a pillow with a felt body but I wanted a fluffy tail to curl around the body. Thank you so much!
This s is really helpful and the most easy tail tutorial I've seen so far ! All the others are very very time consuming , but this one looks pretty easy !
Tips. Use an x-acto knife rather than scissors, so it wont chop the fur up. And also SEAMS. COME ON. You have to use a needle or something to pull the fur strands out from being tucked into the seams. It looks pbbbbt if you dont. Brushing it all to the middle helps, but you still gotta scratch out those seams
Exactly!!...I use a large round point needle and it works very well...and have to use a large stitch so the fur strands come out easily...but yes, its the details that count.
I know this music. So if you want to know the name of it, it's on a video on Brunahville's channel. Go check it out they have lots of beautiful music there. The name of this music is called Winterwolf. Just type in Medieval Ballad- Winterwolf and it should come up.
TL:DR - Pattern, and add seam allowance, Buy multiple colours of fur online, attach with something more permanent, use actual stuffing. (not in order) I just felt I could make a few suggestions Online is probably the best place to get more faux fur colors, and higher qualities, for example, fabric.com, fabric empire, or even Jo-Annes (Quality varies more here I find, Read reviews for the fabric you use!). Second, I reccomend using actual stuffing, like from Walmart, or another supply store. Third, I would definitely reccomend a better attachment method, like Lobster clips, or even just elastic, to attach onto a pair of jeans with a belt. Also, I could see Push pins (like those on a jacket), or velcro working too, I simply haven't tried either. Finally, I reccomend using a piece of newspaper, printer paper, a paper bag, or some other thing you can write on, is cheap, and easy to cut with scissors for patterning something to draw onto the fur, and also to cut just a small bit (Maybe a centimeter) of extra seam allowance for sewing.
That is a Great Idea!...just cut it in a long heart shape then close it on one side instead of the top, and no need to have that bulk at the top...brilliant...I never would have thought of that... can't wait to try it now...Thank you : )
I like your concept. Thanks for showing me this because the main character for my manga gets possessed by a Kitsune giving him ears and a tail so he is able to hear the demons better. Wanted to know how but I heard putting leather inside the tail helps it a bunch to. ;o
i have a lot of fox tails and they all kinda just sit there so what i like a about your method is that before you put cotton in the tail you could put a clothes hanger in there and bend it so the tail is actually up and not a floppy thing if you want 😂
my 3 year old sister wants to be a black cat for Halloween and i told my mom that i wanted to DIY her costume to give me something to do and this is PERFECT!!!!
how do you make and attach the 3d whiskers? it is a small thing, but typically attaching things to your skin is hard wel hard to do without using substances that might be dangerous like superglue.
A thought....add a small fishing line to the end, feed it thru or around the belt loops & use your hands to subtly wiggle it. Either way, this is WAY better than my idea.
After that cutting the shapes of the tail how did you Turner it orange cuse i am gonna be a fox for Halloween and i want the best tail and thats the one
Thanks very much for the video! I was wondering whether you got orange fur, or whether you dyed it. I had white fur that I tried to dye, but the colour didn't stick. I'm not sure how available very bright orange fur is... thanks!
Whoops. Just played the beginning of your video--sorry :) But seeing as you did dye it, what kind of dye did you use (I used a powdered dye and it totally washed out).
UrStarsister yeah this was so complicated. I was waiting for someone to ask me this. I had limited time and no dye would stick to anything made from polyester so I was tempt to just get a lot of sharpies and color it myself since I couldnt find ANY orange fur. Then I came across making my own dye and it sticks and doesnt wash out. Get a thing of 70% alcohol and about 5 orange sharpies, pull apart the sharpies until you get the ink barrels, you pull them all out and pour out a little of the alcohol and put all the ink barrels into the bottle and then let it set overnight. then you have your own sharpie dye! just put the fur in a bag and pour the dye on it and also let it set for atleast 8 hours. hopefully this makes sense. thank you!
Please help! Love this tutorial and need for my kids for a parade this weekend but I couldn't find the right color so I bought white as well thinking I could easily dye it. I bought red and brown and thought it would come out about right....but it's awful! How did you get this color????
i had the same problem. but I bought 9 orange sharpies, broke them and took out the ink fillings and stuck all 9 ink filling in a bottle of peroxide and let it sit for about 4 hours. then i got a ziploc bag and put the white fur and poured the peroxide and the ink fillings in the bag also. let the fur sit for about 10-24 hours (depending on how vibrant you want) then you take the fur out and dry it off and then brush it with a comb.
Wow...you are sure creative!!! I even tried painting it but it wasn't working so nicely. I would have never thought to do this. Thank you so much!!! Xo
Protip: dont cut through the actual hairs! When you cut out the shape try and get your scissors under the hairs so you're just cutting what they're attached to ^~^ it makes it waaaay fluffier and easy to hide seams + less lost fur!
great video just a tip when cutting out fur it's better to use an like a box cutting knife so you won't fur the fibers in the fur also if you want higher quality fur you can look at fabric.com
The only colors at hobby lobby are black, white, and two different browns. to dye it, you can use rit dye or really watered down acrylic paint. (But you have to be careful)
Yes!!!! I'm totally going to make this!!!! I love foxes!!!! And I also love dragons too!!!!!! And wolves too!!!!!! But all I need is just the fur blanket thing. And the color I'm going to make the fox tail is a sky blue color kinda
Hey whats the name of the song in the video? Beautiful tail btw!!! My ex was into that stuff n im thinkin about getting into it too. It looks fun and aeesome!!!
0:54 TIP: You can skip this step by actually cutting the fur correctly instead of chopping it. For those of you who see my comment and also plan on doing what the tutorial says above, then PLEASE only cut the backing of the fur, instead of chopping off all the fibers. The best way is to use an exacto knife to carefully cut out your shapes, but if you don't own an exacto knife, then a pair of scissors will do, if you carefully snip slowly making sure you don't cut the fluffy stuff.
Tutorials when people chop fur like this make me cringe so muchhh. In most tutorials like that, it's kinda hard to notice how awful it looks sometimes, but for the poor oblivious people who try these DIYs, they'll make it and then realize that the fur looks all choppy and weird, and they'll feel awful because they wasted all that money on the supplies.
You're welcome~ Tails are so fun to make, so even if I'm not able to make a tutorial myself, I want to be able to help others so it's more worth wile. ^^
Correction: how to NOT make a tail. I've only made one tail and used a different technique WAY better than this one, and the results were way more organized.
yea, i just went with my knowledge of it and just created something. I made many more tails after this with a lot more clarity. I will update a more organized version of this. thank you for the feedback :)
Oh Sweetie, You have solved my problem! Thank you so much. My youngest son who is 22 yrs old love foxes. I plan on making him a pillow with a felt body but I wanted a fluffy tail to curl around the body. Thank you so much!
+Darlene James so much innocence
Yannick Stoffers was los eeh? was?
Hahahaha ikr
he's probably a furry tbh

helpful tip:
to fold the tail inside out better use a long wooden dowel and gently roll the tail down it

This by far was one of the most easiest diy tails thank you so much! I must go make tails -3-
I know this music. So if you want to know the name of it, it's on a video on Brunahville's channel. Go check it out they have lots of beautiful music there. The name of this music is called Winterwolf. Just type in Medieval Ballad- Winterwolf and it should come up.
Thanks for being a beautiful person! :)
When I saw the thumbnail I was like..
Me: That looks like the Fox tail at party city!
I love the tail idea so much! I am going to wear it to school!!!
I will if i can make it
I have a real one everyone bullies me😭
This is the best idea ever, I can’t wait for Halloween 👻 🦊

i think this is a neat way to make a quick tail, thanks for sharing

You're so pretty omg!! Anime goals XD
Awe, thank you,
+TheNessyMonster I love the Halloween videos:-):-):-)
Furry Goals
not even close to anime
I find it much easier and faster to cut out a heart shape then fold it in half. It saves you time
That is a Great Idea!...just cut it in a long heart shape then close it on one side instead of the top, and no need to have that bulk at the top...brilliant...I never would have thought of that... can't wait to try it now...Thank you : )
I'm trying to do a Cheshire Cat tail (pink and purple) can u help me because I'm trying to make one but I don't know how to dye it
13Redpanther you might have to make the tail first and sew it up, then get purple and pink and dye it with a paintbrush
Could u look up Yarn Tails??
you are my new favorite person on youtube TheNessyMonster
I like your concept. Thanks for showing me this because the main character for my manga gets possessed by a Kitsune giving him ears and a tail so he is able to hear the demons better. Wanted to know how but I heard putting leather inside the tail helps it a bunch to. ;o
Brilliant. Thank you!. Just needed to see the shape how you cut it. Now I can finish my Cheshire cat costume.
This looks really easy and cute.

*Now I gotta do this 9 times for my costume*
I made a white tail with white fabric and a towel as stuffing
thank you! but how would your say put it on a belt without wrecking the belt?
Tip: Before cutting, part the fur bit so you it only cuts the part underneath (don’t know what it’s called)
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who makes my tails just over a foot long.
thanks we need 11 little foxes for our dance concert!
im here 10 years later watching this!
I have found the perfect way to make the fox tail thank you so much
This is the easiest how to make a tail video!! Thx :3
how do you make and attach the 3d whiskers?

Yay this is so cool! I'm doing this for book 📚 week in 3rd grade!
Would it be possible to put some metal wire inside to keep it a certain shape?
I found this very helpful for my fox cosplay thanks
I love the whiskers. Did you make them as well?
Long story short. I collect my cats whiskers when they fall out so I painted them black and super glued them to my face xD
but I have a question, how do I put my tail?
After that cutting the shapes of the tail how did you Turner it orange cuse i am gonna be a fox for Halloween and i want the best tail and thats the one

Cool, I'm gonna try and make the tail and ears.😊 Your awesome +TheNessyMonster
I love your intro. Pika! xD
Just wondering the length of the material you used...
Should I go for 1/2 meter? Or is that not enough?
That should be plenty unless you really want a big big tail
Perfect for a fnaf cosplay for me and my bff on Halloween :D !!!!!!!!
Me an my friends r gonna b mangle Chica foxy an springtrap

How many packets of craft fur did you buy?
3 in all. 2 whites and 1 black
Please help! Love this tutorial and need for my kids for a parade this weekend but I couldn't find the right color so I bought white as well thinking I could easily dye it. I bought red and brown and thought it would come out about right....but it's awful! How did you get this color????

trust me i was painting, coloring it hair by hair with a sharpie and then thought of that idea. I'm glad i could help, hopefully the parade goes well,
+TheNessyMonster where did you get fur?

It's called the magic of E-Bay or Amazon , just search up "faux fur ___ " and say the colour and it should pop up
Que tela uso para hacer la cola? 🧐
Hola, sabes como se llama la tela para hacer la cola ?
"We got the tail but we missed the fox"
Excuse me, what is the name of the fabric used in the video? ❤️❤️
Should I buy already dyed fur, or just dye it myself? Also, how long should I do the tail if I'm making it for a fursuit?
The only colors at hobby lobby are black, white, and two different browns. to dye it, you can use rit dye or really watered down acrylic paint. (But you have to be careful)
is your picter foxy
from fnaf
Yes!!!! I'm totally going to make this!!!! I love foxes!!!! And I also love dragons too!!!!!! And wolves too!!!!!! But all I need is just the fur blanket thing. And the color I'm going to make the fox tail is a sky blue color kinda
This has been useful
How would I add a piece of ribbon on the back for tying or a pin to pin it?
i would say make the ribbon and glue it to a clip or safety pin and then add it to the tail.
***** Okay, thank you
Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to do that stitch? I've been looking for a little, and can't seem to find it

Hey whats the name of the song in the video? Beautiful tail btw!!! My ex was into that stuff n im thinkin about getting into it too. It looks fun and aeesome!!!
