In Bangla it is called 'data shak' ( green leaves) when young; when grow further they become tall eatable sticks ( data - 3 - 6 ft). The other variety is called 'lal shak' ( red leaves), they are eaten when young only ( 8" - 12 "). Very popular veggies. I grow them a lot in summer here in Melbourne.
Adding coconut and jaggery makes it taste sweet, doesn’t it? In the Middle East(Lebanon) we have a similar plant we call khobayzé,and we cook it in a similar way but only adding garlic and onions, and usually we add on it lemon juice when it is done and eaten with pita bread
No, it won't be sweet. It balances the flavor. You can make garlic onion also. Sometimes I do the same as you said. All are slightly different taste. Enjoy variety!!
@@bhusanur.cooking yes of course the taste will be different depending of what you add to the dish, specially concerning different spices😊Thanks for your quick response!

Exactly. We do grow the same in native.
Do not throw that stems. Cut them into small pieces and add to the recipe. Highly nutritious and source of fiber.
