There was only one bike that I wanted, admired and always dreamt of owning; the beautiful 390 Duke. I always wanted this bike in the BS4 white shade. I even remember daydreaming about riding and owning this bike in class hours. When the BS4 Duke was first launched, I went to the showroom on my Montra cycle to see it in person. But upon going to the showroom, the bike gets delivered to someone and I return home without seeing the bike. I however did end up seeing the bike at a local auto expo. Coming back to this story, I took a short test ride of the bike. I remember the bike felt very linear and power delivery was not frantic or scary. That was just a 500m spin with the sales guy as pillion, but at least I got a feel of how the bike felt. I was only interested in the 390 Duke, as 125 felt useless, 200 was overpriced and 250, well, why not stretch and get the 390 itself?
2021 390 Duke BS6: This bike was 7 months old at the time the ad was published. It had only 1300 kilometers on the odo, and had a couple of accessories: Lluvia windshield, Zana crashguards, sidestand extender, and a simtac hazard flasher. The owner was a nice guy, and he was a Team-BHPian as well, so I had that hallmark of trust on this bike. Till date, I don’t know the exact reason for the sale of the bike. I assume the owner wasn’t using it much or he somehow didn’t like the bike. He had a Ford Ecosport and a Yamaha FZ25. He was wearing a Ford mask when I first met him to see the bike, by this I felt he really is an enthusiast and takes good care of his vehicles. We spoke on the phone for 20-25 minutes, and planned to meet on a weekend (February 26 2022 IIRC). He sends me this photo after I cut the call, and the message below it, I had a very nice feeling in my mind which I am failing to express. Fast forward to the weekend, he texts me to confirm if I am coming or not, and I replied yes to it. I went to his place at 1:30 PM. He takes me to his parking, and then I see the bike neatly parked under a cover. The keys to the bike had a Yamaha keychain to it. The owner takes the bike out of the cover, and damn, the bike was so clean. It was so spanking new and fresh it even had a couple of factory stickers and masking tape intact. I took a short testride of about 2 km and I was sold. I negotiated a little on price. Owner quoted 3, I quoted 2.8, settled at 2.85. At this point of time, buying this bike was giving me savings of exactly 50k when compared to buying a new bike. I told the owner I will speak to my dad and transfer the token amount by evening so that he could close the ad, to which he agreed. I told my dad im mediately about all of this on the phone, and my dad had asked for the bike’s documents. The owner promptly sent the RC, temporary registration certificate, pollution certificate, insurance copy and invoice. Forwarded these to my dad immediately.
#2019 390 Duke BS4: This was the second bike on my list and honestly, I was sold on the first bike and didn’t really want to check this bike out. But since I told this guy already, I went to check it out. This bike had some 6000 odd kilometers on the odo. And I was surprised after seeing the bike. This one was very preciously maintained. The owner had uploaded DSLR photographs of the bike, and it was exactly like that in person. I took a testride, and was scared by the performance it had on offer. I am not exaggerating that statement, but that was my exact feeling after I got off the bike. But anyway, I was sold on one bike and there was no way I would be cancelling that. So now to the price, this guy quoted 2.5 and was firm as a stone on his price. I quoted 2.2, went till 2.3, bargained for close to 40 minutes, owner bought us two coconuts as it was a hot afternoon and the sun was burning, drank coconut water which he sponsored, thanked him and left.

One of the best versions ever forgiving and fun
It was never forgiving, you needed skill to ride this one. But fun, 100%
The second version was sharp...needed more skills..@@yourlocalfarmer9092
No need to worry now. Chappris these days have moved on to Kawasaki Z900, Zx10r and some even to S1000rr 😂😂😂😂
Well yes, you will get a Benelli 600 for 2.5 lacks in today's market, the Z900 is also pretty affordable in the second hand market
It is just sad for you to relate such a well-made machine to chapri riders, didn't have to emphasize so much on that point. there are chapri riding all sorts of bikes even RE and Impulse, It was just lack of creativity on your part to put this as a part of discussion for an ownership review, real motorcyclists give two shit about what they are tagged as or what everyone thinks of them, they're just too busy enjoying their machines.. Overall good discussion if you had kept out the chapri part..
So true I was waiting for someone to tell this
This was the truth which every viewer needed to know
11:40 : "it's perfectly maintained and the resale value is shitty 😂"
😂😂😂🥲🥲😥😥😫😫
i too own one. its been 7 years now and its awesomely beautiful in all ways. you feel the raw power...its very seductive! you need to learn to control it's raw power and it will show you what its built for! ktms are not to be compared with any indian bikes which never has or had power in such a degree with all the fantastic body work and of course an International brand known for speeds and adventrue! If we respect it, it will show you the adrenaline it's created with. Kudos to all KTM owners! Ride safe and feel KTM in its right perspective! Thanks for this interview. Very natural and informative.
Well thankyou for appreciating the video, and congratulations of keeping your KTM.
Keep it safe !! I own RC 200 which is 9 years old now and has done 91k kms. It still runs like a charm :)
Bhai ne jla di mt ka nam leke🤣 jbki ye sach h ki 2023 me mt15 sbse bdi chappri bike bn chuki hai.
Sir 30k driven duke 60kmph par achhi average de skti hai...mujhe used mil rahi hai
Plz correct him
Fuel not mix with oil
Coolant mix with engine oil.
Yeah
This guy is actually mad. 15000 kms for the engine oil to be changed is crazy. I dont think the bike has any life left from the engine point of view. Company recommends to change it every 4500 kms but it is healthy to change every 3000 kms.
its 7500km not 4500km
7k kms for KTM Duke 390 bs3
He corrected after
👍🏼

Amazing video. What was his odometer total reading sir?
Found a D390 Bs3 2017 registered, 30000 kms done. Owner is asking for 1.3 lakhs, should i buy??
That's way too high according to me
@@allaboutautomobiles. What should be the price bro??
According to me around 90K is a reasonable price for a good condition 390.
What's a good price for a first gen bike? Decently maintained
Around 80k
Never laughed so hard on a review 😂😂
Laughter is always good for health.
great vid, Just would have like to know the KM it has been ridden. as most ktm needs rebuild at or near 50k km
Would be well beyond 50k, have a friend who has gone beyond 80k on his KTM. If you respect the bike, she will last for a very long time
@@allaboutautomobiles. ok thanks..
i am thinking of getting the new ktm gen 3 390, but im afraid about the engine rebuild complains.
@@hotshot0409 you could also look at the Husqvarna 400
@@allaboutautomobiles. i didnt like its looks :). many people suggested me not to get duke if im thinking of using it 10+ years..
So, i am thinking about getting scrambler 400x or streching my budget and get rs 457.
If y'all know any 2016 duke is for sale, hit me up.
Well my friend has his first generation KTM 390... Buts is as good as scrap condition, will be willing to let go at scrap price as well.
Did u do valve clearance¿
Bullet proof with fuel and engine oil mixing hondas are bullet proof
Yes they are Bullet Proof.
@@Ashes3333 if you think about it..any bike is bullet proof as long as it's the bike that is being shot at and not you😅
look someone to speak on who loves his duke 390 bike and can express it with heart...this guys looks like a Baniya lost in his other world. This bike is not meant for city.it will over heat and shut down.I am a proud owner of duke 390 2013 model.
Hail Furer, well you own a bike in Bombay, you will use it in the city as well. It's not like we ( or atleast most of us) have the luxury to own multiple bikes.
