I tried using the menstrual cup for the first time very recently and the cup got stuck!! It was so bad that it even wouldn't budge! I read several blogs, watched many videos, spent over 2 hours in the shower trying to remove it, all ended in me breaking down. So I called up my friend, and she gave me the best advice ever! she said, "use both your hands." 1. So basically with one hand I hold the stem and tug it very slightly and with the index finger of the other hand (inserted in the canal), I push the wall of the cup and the suction releases!! The cup comes out like a breeze. 2. Nevertheless, remember to use the pelvic muscles to push the cup down and always BREATHE!! 3. always keep your jaw relaxed, it focuses on relaxing the pelvic muscles as well !
I panicked and cried trying to remove my cup for the first time. I have a high cervix and I couldn't get my fingers to grab past the top of the stem. I tried the wiggle method and it still wouldn't slide down enough to grab the base - the suction was too strong. I tried pushing out and while the cup lowered I couldn't pinch the base because everything was slippery! Finally I sat down on the toilet, angled myself to the left, pushed, and with my right hand I was able to directly pinch and grab the base! What! This angle made it really easy. My fingers are tired, but I don't feel nervous for the next time.
It took me an hour and I cried like 3 times in attempting to get I out 😭😭 If I tried doing 2 fingers at the same time it would hurt, what actually got it out was using one finger and pressing the side of the cup down to break the seal, and then continue to push it down till it was low enough to grab with 2 fingers and pull it out completely.
@@eliana4335 so much fear and so many methods involved with cups! I'm glad you were able to figure out your way and feel that instant relief! I hope you feel more confident for future use. I love my cup now 😊
thank you so much! i basically just had the same experience but strained my abs pushing while standing up. i will try the angle method on the toilet :)
@@nephy_9 oh no, I hope you're doing okay. And I hope this helps you! I still use this method & I can't believe how hard it was to figure out removal the first time. Now it's a breeze and I know you'll get there too
I spent 30 minutes trying to remove it and was freaking out! Came out and watched this video, went back in and could get it out in 5 minutes! Thank you!! This was my first time using a cup and I don't know anyone personally who uses one. I had watched a lot of videos and read stuff before trying it. Funny thing is everyone explained how to put it in so well, but said that removing is as simple as holding and pulling. But I couldn't reach it!! I have never used a tampon either and I couldn't understand what to do! Thank you for your video: the pressuring and then wiggling it down helped me. I never knew I had a high cervix.
is anyone else in tears having a mental breakdown while watching this bc you have your cup in right now and you think it’s gonna be lost in there forever?
@Camilla Luna sweetie, use both hands when u pull the cup out. One hand to tug (just hold, don't pull it yet) the tail/tip thingy, and the other hand to squeeze the bottom part of the cup
🤣🤣🤣 I kept asking my kid like wait how do u take it out? Wait I have a heavy flow am I gna need a pad too like I do when I use tampons? Thank god for this video!!
This morning I tried removing mine for the first time and I panicked when I couldn't find the cup in there. Had to pause, breathe, and retry an hour later. My biggest relief was when I finally got it out.
@Miriam Fease I had the same thing happen! You have to grab the "string" and really gently wiggle it down while pushing it out with her muscles (kinda like you're pooping lol) and just keep pushing and wiggling until you can get it low enough to get you fingers around it
I had to hype myself up before doing it cause I have a high cervix and she was all the way in stem and all like whole ass playing jupe music in the shower lmao
And I thought it was stuck inside forever. I wasn't relaxing and it was too tight for my finger and thumb to reach the bottom and break the seal. Just trying to pull the base was worthless and painfull. Three things that helped were a squat position, relaxing my muscles and pushing really hard. Many times the base just slipped and neither I could make a grip nor I could reach the rim, and the pain I had while trying to insert my finger tryna break that seal 😑. I never thought I'd be giving birth to a baby menstrual cup.. LOL. Now it seems funnier but I literally cried 4 times while trying to remove it. It was stuck inside my vagina for like 36 hours and I was too afraid to tell anybody around (being in a family who would consider it as a sin 🤣). So I successfully removed this monstrous thing just a 15 min ago. So many videos, blogs. Thank you for helping me with this. It felt good knowing that I wasn't the only one going through this pain. I don't feel I'll ever experiment something like that again! 😢
I found that at first but if you put relaxing music on or do it in the shower, as well as making sure you squeeze the side of the cup to release the air, it’s actually pain-free
@@alexia7748 hey i already do all the steps people told. squeeze the base and release the air. however when i pull it out i kinda felt pain, is that normal or the suction has yet to be released?
Wow that's scary. Try not to insert it too deep. And keep the stem right at the end of the vagina. Once you do the poop flex you can easily grab the base. Now wiggle it out slowly and pinch the cup just above the base. Repeat the poop flex, wiggling and pinching until it works. You might have to try one action longer than the other.
Alexia I’m also a beginner and have similar problem...I squeezed the side. The moment that the top of the cup came out I felt really uneasy. It‘s a little pain and mixed with the sore feeling of the muscle around my vagina...u think it’s still because I was too tensed? After two removals I feel increasingly nervous about it...
This is my third month using the cup and every time I feel anxious or scared of taking it out I come back to this video and it helps me relax *a lot* . Thank you so so so much 💜
I used a menstrual cup for the first time ever today, but I’ve literally been standing in my shower for the past 40 minutes trying to remove it, for some reason I’m having a super difficult time breaking the seal and getting a good grip on the bottom of my cup with 2 fingers. Trying super hard not to have a panic attack 🫣 I’ve been watching this video (and others) and it’s really reassuring to know that others have had difficulties with removing their cups and I’m not the only one. Taking a break and hopefully will try again once I’ve relaxed for a bit. Update: finally got it out!!! So relieved 😮💨
hey! have you continued using the cup and found removal any easier? i find it hard to grip with just two fingers too so i have to use 3! i use my thumb and index finger on one hand to hold the stem and my index finger on the other hand to break the seal, it’s been working without any issues since i started using the cup 3 days ago.
I have had trouble removing it. So glad when she said "the cup wont go anywhere else in your body other than out." LOL. Their videos is sooo useful and puts you at ease haha🙈
So these comments were so so helpful for my first time removing the cup and I want to be able to help other’s too by sharing my story. I used the diva cup and the removal process was definitely hard for me. I was in straight up panic mode for 3 hours trying to get this thing out, even though I hadn’t hit the 12 hour mark yet. Firstly, I found lying down allows the cup to sometimes settle downward so that you can feel the stem a little When you feel this happen this is your cue to take the cup out (I felt this from the 7 hour mark). When I felt the stem had lowered a bit, I did a kind of half squat over the toilet, had two fingers holding the stem (with my dominant hand) and one finger using the other hand to press against the base of the cup to release it. Then, slightly shimmy the stem and start to pull out and BAM it slid right out and any blood that spilled ended up in the toilet! Honestly I tried everything including changing positions, pushing my pelvic muscles, and the method of squeezing the base of the cup but everything was so slippery and putting two fingers in hurt a bit so personally that did not work for me. My best advice: use both hands, squat over a toilet or do it in the shower in case of spilling, take breaks and just breathe. I was genuinely thinking of going to the hospital but it ended up fine so I hope this helps!
Step one: to choose your cup, measure your depth *it helps to do it in the shower* Step two: practice insertion *it helps to do it in the shower* Step three: practice removing it *it helps to do it in the shower* I’ve taken 14 showers today, but I’m ready for my next period. 😂 (This is just a light hearted joke)
I would NOT recommend practicing when you aren't on you period if you have a smaller cervix! Your muscles are way tighter and it can REALLY HURT. Trust me. Wait until you are on your period to practice.
Thank you soooo much for you video!! I was on the verge of having a full blown panic attack. I put mine in for the first time today and could not remove it! The shower idea was a lifesaver! Thanks!!!
Thank you for the this video and all the helpful comments on here. Was my third time using the cup after a gap of like 6 months. Last time I tried removing, maybe the suction was not released and it made this firework sound lol and I couldn’t get myself to try again. I got it sort of right this time. I mean yeah it is uncomfortable going in and getting out but I think not having to worry about changing things every now and then makes it worth it. Here’s what I do: Insertion: Get hair out of my face. Sit on the toilet, spread legs apart, do the punchdown fold and insert towards tailbone. Try to relax and push out a little bit so you open up. Remember to check the base of the cup to make sure there’s no dent which would mean it has opened properly. Go about your day/night like period doesn’t exist. Removal: Get hair out of my face. Squat in the shower, make a funny face pretending to push out a baby. Make power sounds. Pull down the stem just a little, the pushing out movement and wiggling it should bring the cup base lower to be accessible with fingers. Pinch the base which releases suction. Keep pushing and remove at an angle for ease. Treat yourself to some ice cream 😀
So I just desperately figured out a method for me to get the cup out, that I haven't really read yet. It's similar to pinching the end of it. First do the pooping motion to push the cup out a bit. Obviously relax and also relax your jaw. Then push your middle finger slightly inside (the bum side). Place your thumb on the opposite side but push it further up while doing the pooping motion. Now you can break the seal by pushing your thumb down. Using any other finger hasn't worked for me bc then weren't strong enough. Now try wiggling it side to side while your thumb is pressing down and your middle finger guiding the motion. You can either relax or push the cup with your muscles while doing so. I hope this helped someone and good luck 💕 you'll get it out eventually
Phew, thanks to your video, i managed to remove mine, which had been stuck for a whole day, ive had it a year, no issues, but today, i just couldn't get it out, helpful tips.
This is comforting. This is my first cycle using the cup. But now I’m nearing the end of the cycle and I suddenly felt it’s harder to pull out the cup 🥺 Thank you for this
This is so relatable. Idk if your cervix goes back up when your period ends, but I had the same issue and it was so stressful lol I'm hoping my next period will be better.
Your channel as taught me alot I love it. Didnt like this video too much the sound change from clips is HORRIBLE! You have been warned if your watching with headphones!
My thumb nail is almost 2cm and I didn’t consider that before buying the mooncup. I keep poking and pinching myself at the moment but I refuse to get rid of my nails and I refuse to give up on the mooncup, so wish me luck guys. Any tips?
@@niamh9947definitely don't mindlessly grab, somehow skin just finds its way underneath the nail (and ouch). Slide your nails against the cup when taking it out and that way you won't pinch down on any skin since your nails are already on the cup.
I can't even feel the stem. OMG I know I can get it out, but I'm on the verge of a panic attack. I'm trying to remind myself that this is how I felt when I first started wearing contacts. Eventually I will get the hang of it
Theres a first time for everything and omg ive been referring my first time with contact lenses too cus once it freaked me out just as much removing the cup from my cervix for the first time😭😭😭
I've been using cups for 3 years amazing man. Also watching this I'd like to say that yes your cup does give you an alarm when it's full. And that is, 1. You'll feel heavy and full, somewhat like you feel when you eat too much but in your uterus. It will feel loaded. 2. When full, it starts giving these tiny bubbles which isn't blood but liquid telling you you gotta change. 3. It's not always possible to exit the cup straight and there are high changes of you spilling the blood if you pull the cup out towards your backside. It's safer to pull it out towards the clit side. And if you're new trust me you'll get used to it it's fun
Hi ladies! I tried a menstrual cup this month, a large size one since apparently I have a very high cervix. Getting it out was a nightmare. No way to do it if I didn't bear down. Once the suction was so hard that I had to bear down for so long, it felt like I was giving birth and I was completely covered in sweat by the time ì finally got it out. I thought this can't be normal/healthy so I decided to do some reading. Apparently, there have been cases where use of the menstrual cup has lead to prolapse due to weakening of the pelvic floor due to excessive pushing....I even found an interview where medical personnel confirmed that excessive bearing down can in fact lead to prolapse. I would love to hear from the put a cup in it ladies (and anyone really) on this. It seems to me as if menstrual cups can potentially be dangerous for those of us that have a very high cervix, which is really a pity. But if it is indeed the case, this information needs to be public and women should be aware of this risk.
The technique that works for me till date to remove the cup is to reach with my index finger all the way up to the rim and push down on the cup in the direction of my back and release the pressure. Then, use my index finder as a hook to get it out 3/4ths and then use the other fingers to get it out to empty without any spillage. When I first used mine and saw loads of videos suggesting the base pinch method and I just couldn't use my thumb and index together due to the slipperiness. My technique of removing works while sitting on the toilet seat as well as squatting on the floor. When I tried the menstrual cup for the first time, I was stuck in the washroom for hours and at some point I thought it's fine if I just let it be there. xD Then, I'm glad I found a technique that found works for me. You just need to find yours, too.
I’ve been searching every video because I ordered a cup a few days ago and my period is coming in a bit. I don’t want to be panicking and having a cup stuck. I can do this!
I just finished screaming at my bf that I can’t get it out!!!!!!!! He asked me to call my best friend instead so I asked him to get my phone and alas here I am
Just had an absolute breakdown sat on the toilet for a good 2 hours trying to fish the cup out of me … I was in panic mode… don’t panic worst thing you can do!! I came off the toilet for a break and then I went to try again…. I was reading the comments and they brought me so much comfort to know I wasn’t the only 1😂 I also found the technique that was the most successful was to do the 💩 flex … just push and and fish around then pinch wiggle and release 👍🏽 hope this helps anyone who happens to have a stuck cup 🤣xoxo
I’m good!! I had to keep hooking it out. I just don’t know how to do the pushing method. It doesn’t work for me at all and I think I have a higher cervix then I thought
Are you still using the same menstrual cup? I found that I had to switch over to the XO Flo for my heavier flow and what is apparently considered a very high cervix. Just tried for the first time during my last cycle, and I finally have hope this might work for me!! The stem is long enough that I can encourage the whole thing down until I can reach the base and pull. Without that, it could be a disaster.
Hi guys I just took it out and i was so nervous. But after I got it out I thought it was not all that bad and practice would do me good. I switched to the cups cause I thought I was creating a lot more plastic waste and I could save much money on buying pads monthly. I hope you guys can also find menstrual cups a convenient method
Thank you so much for this video. This was my first time removing the cup and I immediately panicked because it was not coming out and I had to go fishing pretty far. This caused pain and more panic until I turned to TH-cam. This video was a godsend.
I tried a cup for the first time today and tried for 10+ mins trying to get my cup out and started freaking out! Panicked and started looking up how to take them out and saw this video. Thank you so much! It was so much easiest to pull out once I saw how to correctly pull them out!
Just took my cup out for the first time and BOY. That took a while. It hurt SO bad when I initially pulled it out (don’t think my vagina is used to something that big passing through). I have a really high cervix, so I had to pull the stem to get it low enough. In the end, I ended up having to let down in the bathtub to get it out, and it spilled out everywhere. Seeing my blood was a WEIRD experience....but at least I was in a bathtub. Hopefully it goes smoother when I go to take it out tonight! This video helped ❤️
Hahah came here like everyone else after my first time. Struggled for an hour to understand how it's lodged inside, what gave me comfort was that millions of women have faced this before and I can figure it out. It was messy, but finally figured it. It was lodged extremely deep inside my cervix and had to push the baby out 😛 sitting in a complete squat, listening to music to calm myself down and releasing the suction helped. Good luck ladies, even with the initial operational trouble I think it's the best damn thing to happen to me. Can barely feel my period. ❤️
Hello, your name particularly attracted me. I haven't used the cup yet, I tried while not on my period and it was very difficult to insert. Can you please give a guide on how you inserted and removed it?
i just got mine (i’m not on my period right now) but i thought it might be useful to practice a few times before, first time removing was so horrible because i had no idea you had to pinch it 😭
first two times i just tried to pull it down and i got it out but i was in so much pain, i can’t imagine giving birth 😳... hopefully next time will go a bit smoother 😥
@@ann-hu1of i love it! i figured out how to get it out and it doesn’t usually hurt at all. honestly it’s more comfortable than tampons in my opinion. the only thing that’s difficult is that i live in a dorm complex so i feel awkward cleaning it out in case someone walks in on me. it’s saved me a good amount of money already and i really recommend!
ILY 🥺 I was getting frustrated for the last two days as I'm trying cups for the first time. But this video made sense. I hope I'll get the hang of it in 2-3cycles
THANK YOU so much for this video! I have a high and small cervix couldn't get two fingers in for the life of me. Gently wiggling it by the "string" and bearing down on it (like youre pooping lol) saved me! I was finally able (after quite a while) to get it far enough down to grab it!
I just got mine out (first time using it) and I was freaking out cause I couldn’t feel it, but it’s nice to know that you can’t lose it insides yourself. 😅 Because I was scared to lose it.
I had a fight with my mom before buying the Menstrual cups. She was scared it might get stuck. Anndd today on my first day of Menstrual cup it really got STUCK! I was crying in my bedroom 😂 cause can't ask mom for help. Thank god I watched this video 😅 I was successfully able to get the Menstrual cup out. Now I m gonna take a break. I will try again tomorrow. 💪 🤭
Well, I totally freaked out when my cup was sitting inside & not coming out, and found this video while searching. It scared me while trying to get it out, but thankfully after 2 mins it finally came out😮💨 P.S. My suggestion is to try the squat position at first. It's not painful just something like u popped something out if I may put it. Bit sore. But it's worth it.
So here's the deal, me and my mom ordered our cups yesterday, I ordered through USA amazon so It will take 10 days to be here since I live in Colombia But clue says I'm getting my period in 2 days, I'm really hoping my period is late this month so I don't need to wait till my next period.
I almost had a heart attack trying to get it out. I had to squat and push it out a little so I could grab the stem but it was all slippery so it was hard to do.
Damn that was scary. It was my first time and I could not get a grip of it I was shit scared that it's gonna stay there forever but you girls rock Big shout-out to you and all the ladies in the comments section Once it was out it felt like victory And yes I had it in me while I was watching this video terrified and with teary eyes But it gets better ..
I had bought the diva cup and when I actually thought it was sealed and I took it out, I couldn't break the seal and I have to painfully full it out with my cervix suctioned to it. I have just ordered the Lily cup one with a softer felx and silicone so hopefully that will work but I feel like I'm still gonna have a problem with the suction.
Please be careful, if you don't break the suction properly and take it out safely it can cause organ prolapse. They really should warn us of the risks of this.
It's my first time using the menstrual cup. Inserting it in isn't as stressful as removing it. Even though, when you insert the cup and it plops, creating a vacuum, it is... Not very pleasant. But it's not as bad as removing it, because, since I'm still pretty new, it hurts, even if I tilt it. My advice is to tilt it and slowly get it out by inserting your thumb inside and press the cup slightly to the side, iliminating the vacuum. Then try to take it out by still pressing it slightly to the side to avoid the vacuum and use your other fingers to move it out. At last tilt it, clench your teeth and get it out CAREFULLY. That part really can hurt though..
OK I was wrestling with mine for legitimately 30 minutes and was starting to panic. Decided to take a break, watch a few videos, read the comments, try again and was able to get it out first try. These comments were so helpful, so sharing my experience. I have a high cervix. First step was using my dominant hand to find the stem and grab it (thumb and index). I use the wiggle method until the stem is just outside my body (suction is too powerful to get the body of the cup out at all). I then switch my grip to my non-dominant hand to just hold the stem/cup in place, stick one finger from my other hand up the side to apply pressure and break the seal. While doing this, my non-dominant hand is pulling. When the bottom of the cup is out of my body, I can use my dominant hand to pinch the whole thing and pull out. Hope someone finds this helpful!
I got a Saalt cup today and I'm already in love. I've never had tampons work well for me, and I already took my cup out once today but it didn't feel too good so I figured I needed more guidence 😂🤷🏻♀️
***IF IT'S NOT LOW ENOUGHT TO PINCH*** Ladies, please remember you can use both of your hands for removal. Use one finger from your dominant hand and, in a squatting position, another finger from your nondominant to reach up and push the cup in from both sides. I had an impossible time pinching between my thumb and forefinger and this technique did the trick!
I usually remove mine in the shower and just wear a pad during heavy bleeding so I don't need to empty it at work. Tried to remove it over the toilet today in the morning and once during work and both times it got all over my hand when I broke the seal 😂 But both times the cup was already overflowing so I guess I'll just have to remove it earlier and keep trying.
Hey so if your nails are painted can you still put the cup in??? Yesterday I thought my nails were dry but guess not because once I put my cup in and took my finger out one of them had a nail with the polish all smooshed and I had to pray that there was no glitter in my vagina or something
Okay! I finally got it out after a little cry. Lol. I couldn't grasp the string, it kept slipping. I was trying to use my finger nails but my nails are so bloody thin they just kept bending. I had to dry that little pull string and area super dry!!!! Then finding the area again while super dry through all these folds was kinda hard but I just pushed it out a little and grabbed that sucker and pulled. Now I don't think I'll be trying this out. I used a Large but maybe next time I'll try a Small cup. If I try because that freaked me out, I didn't know how I would've gotten it out by myself and there's no way my man would've, he's kind of squeamish about blood even though he's seen me at my complete worst and through the pregnancy of our child and we all know, though some of us love love loved and enjoyed being pregnant, we know it can really be disgusting at times and he's been through it all with me. Anyhow, thanks for these videos. ❤
This is my first time using a menstrual cup and I was a bit scared. Especially about the removing part since I have heard a lot about vaginal prolapse. I was in a hurry tho did remove it the standard way but I felt a little pressure so I got scared. It truly was a scary day. This video made me feel much better. Phew.
Okay ladies after trying the diva cup and nearly crying every time it was time to remove it, I bought the intima cup instead and it works soooo much better for us ladies with a higher cervix! I was able to grab the stem and unsuction it all on the toilet in a few seconds with no extra tricks or stress. Highly recommend intima for those who have a hard time grabbing the stem. We are not one size fits all!
okay fun terrifying story: I just inserted the mensrual cup and FEAKED OUT when i realised the tip is a little inside and not completely hanging out. i thought the cup was gona go deeeper itself and m gona lose the tip hence losing the cup. i grabbed onto the the tip WITH MY LIFFEEEEE SO SCARED IT WAS GONA GO DEEPER i kept pulling it but it wouldnt budge (i learned tht i inserted the cup correctly and a vaccuum was made) i got so terrifieddd i changed my position. kept digging inside smhow trying to remove the cup and after sweating buckets, crying, imagiining the embarassing ER trips, AND telling my prnts I FINALLY REMOVED IT BY PRETENDING M GIVING A DAMN BIRTH (my non preg virgin ass thnx the dramatic movies) and now m wearing a tampon cuz m out my shit terrified
These comments help. I will try the shower method. I tested it out last night and couldn't get it out in the morning my husband had to help. I'm giving it another try today at work but I am so nervous. I tried to leave it very close to the entrance and now it's way in there.
I wish I see your videos sooner. So this is my story Everything is going well until I decided to empty the cup. I was using a small cup even tough I've had a labor. I think that small size is enough because I am a beginner and I don't have a heavy flow + it's less intimidating. It's actually works well at first time. I managed to use it easily. No leakage whatsoever when I sleep. But then this problem happens.. Getting it out is more difficult that put it in. (TMI alert) I can touch stem but I can't grasp it to pull it out. The cup was like deeper through my cervix I can't even reach it. I got panicked at that time so it's more frustrating to get it out. Thinking should I tell my mom to help me out but I can't because it's so embarrassing! (Cups also not very well known here) So I try to calm down and decided to do this again. Just relax and breathe. By a little push I managed to grasp the bottom of cup and finally empty it out. So what this experience has told me is buy a larger cup (because I kinda have the higher cervix) and DON'T PANIC. Being panic just make everything worse. I also realized that this journey maybe not that easy, and it's not going to be perfect from the first time (as I think it would be) Mistakes can happen that's okay because you can always learn from it. And I am proud to be in this club! Bye bye pads👋🏻
I did the measure test and was at about the 2nd knuckle to my cervix and it’s my first time ever using one so I was suggested to use a small. First day successfully getting it in and noticed throughout the day it went up higher. Like needing to go 1st knuckle to reach the stem. Currently can’t get it out, asking my husband to help since he’ll have a better angle. 🤦🏽♀️
Ok. I inserted a cup in there for the first time this morning. Of course with a lot of struggle. But now I'm freaking out to get it outside. These comments did a great job in convincing me that I'm not gonna live the rest of my life with that cup inside. Lol. I'll try to relax before trying anything to get it out
I could insert the cup but it doesn't pop. I cannot hear the pop sound. Have to try it 3 times and then I *think* it popped but not sure. Plus while removing, I am unable to "break" the suction. I tried the wiggle method and removed it, but the suction is very strong. This was my first time and haven't kept it for more than a minute. I'm still scared if after hours when I try to remove, I won't feel the stem. I could insert and remove the cup twice in about 18 minutes and it's my first time. Do not read all the negative comments befofe inserting or removing it.. It'll just stress you out. Just be positive and relax. Anyways, if you have a remedy for the mentioned problems, kindly let me know what helped you to make the process easier!
tbh the comments are what helped me 😂 I squatted over the floor and pretended I was giving birth because I literally could not find the stem again at first. it helped me to be in the squatting position, pushing and was completely painless for me other that poking myself with my nails at first (not the fault of the cup at all). didn't have to cut my nails or anything crazy seeing as my thumb nail was already broken so just my index finger was poking me, but after pushing it out enough to feel the base, I was able to grip and wiggle it out while still kind of pushing. I hope this helps someone. TLDR: squat, push, find stem, grip base a little above stem, and wiggle outwards and a bit down.
I LOVE you ladies - you’ve converted me! BUUUUT!! “Simply wiping off with some toilet paper or a wipe & re-inserting”?!?! Do you KNOW how many horrific studies have been done about the fecal matters in public restrooms (especially the toilet paper)?!?! Nooooooo! Don’t SUGGEST that option! Ladies need to find a more sterile option (perhaps it’s yet to be fully invented), but using toilet paper is NEVER a good idea!!!!!!! Even world renowned doctors have confirmed TSS to be even HIGHER with cup users because of re-insertion of cups that aren’t properly sanitized (or have been subjected to/contaminated with bacteria)!!!! Seriously. I do absolutely LOVE you gals. YOU are the reason I’ve made the change and will NEVER look back. But PLEASE consider further research on the cleanliness......especially with re-insertion (and especially with public restroom options).... Your instructions and tips are great!!! But finding the perfect cup is only half the battle. Health and hygiene should be just as if not MORE important. Thanks! Love you!
I think the best method is to put it back in straight away. So wash your hands really well before going into the toilet, make sure you don't touch anything (lock it with your elbow lol) remove, empty and then put it straight back in. That was no new bacteria especially from toilet paper is going onto the cup. It won't be cleaned out, but the only thing going back in is what was in there beforehand so 🤷
I was very afraid I wouldn't be able to get my cup out. I could reach the base just fine but it took so long to finally get it out. I'm afraid to try again, any tips?
Removing the cup is the challenge and not inserting. The rims kind of hurt for a moment. Its not easy to pinch as its slippery down there (not due to blood) and its better to empty 3-4 times a day on first 2 days at least. Also if using lubricant, apply on vaginal opening rather than on cup. Over a toilet seat is always better idea and keeping water beside to avoid the mess is a great prep. Above all not making the whole process a big deal and being gentle with it is mentally best. Switch to Cups asap babes 😉
Do not bear down with your pelvic floor muscles (as if you're trying to poop) to make the cup easier to reach, this can cause prolapse or aggravate an existing prolapse.
I decided to get a cup, but some brands (like me luna) offer not only different sizes but different ends too. What do you recomend a really "bloody" beginner? A ring, a stem or a ball?
@@avafaghani2723 This is a really helpful information. My first question was 4 weeks ago. I already ordered the MeLuna classic S with a ring because I knew I would get my period and wanted to have a cup soon. My period came while visiting a friend and I was so happy to have the cup. Made things so much easier. But like others now I'm obsessed with menstrual cups and I was thinking of getting a second one. One in the bathroom and one in my handbag, just in case.
Well I was able to remove it...I did lot of research and saw videos before buying a cup..problem is when removing the cup while it's coming out the labia gets tingling pain as if giving birth to baby cup and skin is tearing...gosh that part is so irritating that I feel not to wear cup again...
I’m finding it really difficult to insert my fingers far up enough to grab the base. Bearing down doesn’t seem to make it any easier. I don’t really think my cup is that far up. It’s just so slippery in there that it’s hard to get a good grip (if i grab a tissue to dry it, my vagina feels so dry that it hurts really badly to stretch) and there seems to be some sort of bone at the top of my vagina that makes it super difficult to get a finger in that side... idk what i’m gonna do
I think propping one leg at a higher level gives a better angle for insertion & removal in comparison to squatting or sitting over the toilet, for some people. The bearing down works better in this position as well and it becomes very easy to reach the stem and the cup base!
I got my partner her first cup as a gift and we spent maybe an hour trying to get it out in various ways. Neither of us could fit a thumb and index finger to grab the base. Eventually we got it out by her standing on one leg, the other propped up on the seat, and me sloowly wiggling it out using both index fingers. Anyway afterwards we just laughed about how difficult it was and she put it right back in xD In retrospect clipping your nails the day before might have been a good thing?
Try this: Squat a little Poopflex(that means give a pressure from the abdomen just like you do while pooping) Hold on to the base of the cup Stand up tall still holding on Squat again Poopflex Try to grip up higher on the cup Stand up while still holding on Repeat until you got it
WRONG! To all watching this, please please PLEASE do not yank, pull or wiggle it down, this can cause organ prolapse which they don't tell you is a possible risk. Make sure you pinch the base to break the suction and then you can remove safely.
Yeah tried it today finally got it in wore it 2 hours, a big mess and a panic attack later got it out I could not grab it from the bottom at all! I had to put a finger in besides it and try to put my finger over the top to release the seal.
Okay, so here's the thing! I removed mine by inserting a finger inside to break the seal. Everyone says there shouldn't be a mess. But it was hella messy! There was a huge spillage. A blood bath. But thankfully it was done over the toilet. Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Or if I'm not the only one?
How are you supposed to put two fingers inside your vaj at the same time?? 😥 I just had to work through my first "removal"- it was challenging and I feel sore. I had to pull on the tab to get it out cause idk how to fit my finger and thumb up there to pinch it lol
ahhhh!! i used it first tym today....this much pain i didnt feel at d tym of inserting but i didnt saw the tutorials and gone to remove n it is hurting even now....it wasn't coming out n i just pulled it n now .....i have a lack of sleep.....before that i was gonna have a sound sleep 😂
Who else watching this while having the cup inside of you??? Lol 😂 I'm too scared.
I hope you got it out :P
I have it in my hand and wanted to give a thought before inserting it😂
Yes im scared. I don't want it to suction my cervix and rip out my uterus help
I put it in for the first time but I think it will stay there forever :(
Damn me too.. too scared thinking about how to pull it out.
I tried using the menstrual cup for the first time very recently and the cup got stuck!! It was so bad that it even wouldn't budge! I read several blogs, watched many videos, spent over 2 hours in the shower trying to remove it, all ended in me breaking down. So I called up my friend, and she gave me the best advice ever! she said, "use both your hands."
2. and 3. are also great advices for labour :-D
This is exactly what I had to do. It wasn't budging and was so painful everytime I tried to remove it until I used 2 hands.
Mansi Zutshi very helpful THANK YOU
This is so relatable; this comment is the one thing that helped me get my cup out. So THANK YOU.
@Pineapple Cucumbers for me the stem was sticking out a little so I only need 1 finger to break the seal
your videos are great but you need to work a bit on your audio
I panicked and cried trying to remove my cup for the first time. I have a high cervix and I couldn't get my fingers to grab past the top of the stem. I tried the wiggle method and it still wouldn't slide down enough to grab the base - the suction was too strong. I tried pushing out and while the cup lowered I couldn't pinch the base because everything was slippery! Finally I sat down on the toilet, angled myself to the left, pushed, and with my right hand I was able to directly pinch and grab the base! What! This angle made it really easy. My fingers are tired, but I don't feel nervous for the next time.
It took me an hour and I cried like 3 times in attempting to get I out 😭😭
If I tried doing 2 fingers at the same time it would hurt, what actually got it out was using one finger and pressing the side of the cup down to break the seal, and then continue to push it down till it was low enough to grab with 2 fingers and pull it out completely.
@@eliana4335 so much fear and so many methods involved with cups! I'm glad you were able to figure out your way and feel that instant relief! I hope you feel more confident for future use. I love my cup now 😊
Seriously I remember that was a war between me and the cup, especially last days 😂
thank you so much! i basically just had the same experience but strained my abs pushing while standing up. i will try the angle method on the toilet :)
I never leave comments on TH-cam videos, but the comments on this one by other women helped me freak out a bit less. So thank you!
I've spent 45 min now I'm out and watching this..I'm scared
is anyone else in tears having a mental breakdown while watching this bc you have your cup in right now and you think it’s gonna be lost in there forever?
I removed it pretty easily the first time tonight and i am sleepless worrying that i wont find the cup tomorrow morning.
@@anjaniadhikari6952 i feel that, i’ve been too scared to use it again after one horrible experience 🤧🤧
Me, me, me...I just went to the gynecologist to help me put it out because the cup stucks inside..
I'm so happy to know that I'm not the only one who had a crying fit when it was time to take the cup out 🤣🤣🤣
I am struggling rn. My boyfriend is cuddling me cuz am crying 😂
@Camilla Luna sweetie, use both hands when u pull the cup out. One hand to tug (just hold, don't pull it yet) the tail/tip thingy, and the other hand to squeeze the bottom part of the cup
I'm going to have to go to the ER, I swear.
@@TaintedSeance I hope u got it out without going to the ER! I want to try one because my daughter raves over this! I had so many questions too!

Thank you this was the scariest shit in my life.
same. i was standing up while taking it out n it hurt so fuckin bad i thought i was dying😖
This morning I tried removing mine for the first time and I panicked when I couldn't find the cup in there. Had to pause, breathe, and retry an hour later. My biggest relief was when I finally got it out.
Miriam Fease same, like how am I meant to pull it out without 2 fingers
@Miriam Fease I had the same thing happen! You have to grab the "string" and really gently wiggle it down while pushing it out with her muscles (kinda like you're pooping lol) and just keep pushing and wiggling until you can get it low enough to get you fingers around it
I had to hype myself up before doing it cause I have a high cervix and she was all the way in stem and all like whole ass playing jupe music in the shower lmao
I just took mine out for the first time and almost passed out in the shower lmaooo
I am shitting in my pants. I am too scared to put it in.
How do I get it out. What do I do if it's stuck.
oh my god I nearly passed out the first time I took mine out too
I couldn't help but talk out loud to myself while taking it out. Lol. 🤦♀️
Really there is no proper way to take it out, it screeches the labia like 500 times.
@@peacock8394 omg same loll
@@alexia7748 hey i already do all the steps people told. squeeze the base and release the air. however when i pull it out i kinda felt pain, is that normal or the suction has yet to be released?
what finally helped you?
Step one: to choose your cup, measure your depth
*it helps to do it in the shower*
Step two: practice insertion
*it helps to do it in the shower*
Step three: practice removing it
*it helps to do it in the shower*
I’ve taken 14 showers today, but I’m ready for my next period. 😂
(This is just a light hearted joke)
🤣👌🏻💙
I would NOT recommend practicing when you aren't on you period if you have a smaller cervix! Your muscles are way tighter and it can REALLY HURT. Trust me. Wait until you are on your period to practice.
😂😂😂😂😂
Personally for removal it doesn't help to do it in the shower, I prefer the toilet, but the shower does help with insertion.
@@vray8034 i know that's right
Thank you soooo much for you video!!
Here’s what I do:
Insertion: Get hair out of my face.
Treat yourself to some ice cream 😀
heyyy thank u for this. I wanted to ask, what exactly do u mean by pushing?
@TJ It means you have to use your pelvic muscles, just like you do when you have to poop or give birth😂
@@maryanellen158 oh ok thnx!
This is the stuff that should be taught in schools
But now I’m nearing the end of the cycle and I suddenly felt it’s harder to pull out the cup 🥺
Thank you for this
This is so relatable. Idk if your cervix goes back up when your period ends, but I had the same issue and it was so stressful lol I'm hoping my next period will be better.
I'm not worried because I believe that I can do anything I set my mind to
Right.
That’s what I thought
Your channel as taught me alot I love it. Didnt like this video too much the sound change from clips is HORRIBLE! You have been warned if your watching with headphones!
Agree -- a lovely clip on mic will work wonders and add a much better quality to these scenes!!
One of my biggest warnings is your nails be careful because I have pitched my insides so just be careful
Yep I was having this issue too, I had to be really careful and slow with where I was grabbing to stop pinching the skin up there
My thumb nail is almost 2cm and I didn’t consider that before buying the mooncup.
Irrelevance that’s what I’ve been trying to do but yep- skin just somehow gets under there. I’m getting a lot better though. Thanks!
I just got rubber gloves and add tissue to my nails so they don’t pinch

So grateful for a channel like this because I know no cup users irl

Was it less painful with a softer one?
Please be careful, if you don't break the suction properly and take it out safely it can cause organ prolapse. They really should warn us of the risks of this.

'Do not yank on the stem'
*me who was yanking on the stem🤡🤡
OMG. Pulling it out is harder than pushing it inside. IDK i thought that former would easy breezy. It was an absolute horror show.
Sameeee I’m so tight and putting it in already hurt I can’t take it out ahhhhh
Tried to remove it over the toilet today in the morning and once during work and both times it got all over my hand when I broke the seal 😂
But both times the cup was already overflowing so I guess I'll just have to remove it earlier and keep trying.
Thats the one thing that I don't like about living in the dorm. It's hard to start since it's so public!
Hey so if your nails are painted can you still put the cup in??? Yesterday I thought my nails were dry but guess not because once I put my cup in and took my finger out one of them had a nail with the polish all smooshed and I had to pray that there was no glitter in my vagina or something
FOR ME THE TAKING OUT PART IS ALWAYS THE TRICKIEST I fail to break seal and it comes out with a pop and just "Ouch!"
I had a meltdown trying to remove the cup and just ended up grabbing the base and yanking it out I can't even
how do you relax while you are panicking????????
I’m so sorry but the giving birth thing made this whole experience way less stressful for me
These comments help. I will try the shower method. I tested it out last night and couldn't get it out in the morning my husband had to help. I'm giving it another try today at work but I am so nervous. I tried to leave it very close to the entrance and now it's way in there.
My mom wants me to use pads but I would like to have the cups
It’s amazing. Just take your time through the transition from pads to cups
I wish I see your videos sooner.
So this is my story
Everything is going well until I decided to empty the cup.
I also realized that this journey maybe not that easy, and it's not going to be perfect from the first time (as I think it would be)
Mistakes can happen that's okay because you can always learn from it.
And I am proud to be in this club!
Bye bye pads👋🏻
Thanks! Now I can buy a cup fully informed
Lol. I'll try to relax before trying anything to get it out
Dude are you still using it 😭
@@faranjackson8113 yeah😂
Thanks! Love you!
Hi... So every time before re-inserting do we need to sterilize it??
@@mounica7015 wash with gentle fragrance free soap every time you empty.
It gets better with practice!
@@PutACupInIt Thank you! I've done it a few more times and now I think I'm comfortable enough to leave it in longer and use it more regularly.
please help me I cant get it out 😭
This was sooooo helpful😭 I got it out and it didn't hurt and I am proud👍
A ring, a stem or a ball?
a ring or stem ;)
@@avafaghani2723 Thank you
Verena B no problem!! Also the lena cup small is a great first cup for heavy flows.
Verena B sounds great! I have one in my backpack for school 💓
Well I was able to remove it...I did lot of research and saw videos before buying a cup..problem is when removing the cup while it's coming out the labia gets tingling pain as if giving birth to baby cup and skin is tearing...gosh that part is so irritating that I feel not to wear cup again...
EXACTLY. The last part is just horrible, I put it back into drawer.
Same girl same...
I did my first overnight wear and now it’s stuck 🥴
Anyway afterwards we just laughed about how difficult it was and she put it right back in xD
In retrospect clipping your nails the day before might have been a good thing?
Try this:
Squat a little
Poopflex(that means give a pressure from the abdomen just like you do while pooping)
Hold on to the base of the cup
Stand up tall still holding on
Squat again
Poopflex
Try to grip up higher on the cup
Stand up while still holding on
Repeat until you got it
Cried after doing it last cycle, thought I’d be a pro this time. Nope. I’m back here even though I’ve done it before 🤦♀️
Watching this because i couldn't get my cup out & almost fainted
Is there anyone here got a trouble took it off and it felt too traumatic that you get back to pads/tampon? 😭
Same here, I ve been spilling some on the floor whenever I try to take it out
How are you supposed to put two fingers inside your vaj at the same time?? 😥 I just had to work through my first "removal"- it was challenging and I feel sore. I had to pull on the tab to get it out cause idk how to fit my finger and thumb up there to pinch it lol
Hannah May Merrill I want to get a cup but I can barely get 1 finger up there let alone 2. Did you manage to find a way to do it?
ahhhh!! i used it first tym today....this much pain i didnt feel at d tym of inserting but i didnt saw the tutorials and gone to remove n it is hurting even now....it wasn't coming out n i just pulled it n now .....i have a lack of sleep.....before that i was gonna have a sound sleep 😂
