Trains at Manchester Piccadilly - 04/08/2021

Filmed on 04/08/2021. Time for another trip to another popular spot for trainspotters, one of the main terminus stations in Greater Manchester, Yep, for the first time since 2019 we are back at Manchester Piccadilly (Season 8 Episode 23)
But, for this day and until 16th August, The East Coast Mainline upgrade works are beginning to take shape which is taking effect with several services and on some lines. For example: The York to Leeds line is due to be electrified which is becoming a very different rail scene. Northern services which normally runs between Manchester Victoria and Leeds are not currently running. Most services are terminating at Rochedale with a 2 hourly stopping service between Leeds and Hebden Bridge.
It is also Transpennine Express divert day. The Newcastle/Edinburgh to Liverpool Lime Street services are instead terminating at Manchester Piccadilly instead. Also, Transpennine Express are running special shuttle services which are running between Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Airport via Newton-Le-Willows with class 185's and even a Nova 1 which has been making an appearance on this service.
Avanti West Coast at this moment in time is still running at 85% of the services which for Manchester services are running 2 trains an hour rather than 3 trains an hour. Transport For Wales are also running a reduced service on the North Wales diagrams with few services extending through to Llandudno/Bangor/Holyhead with most of the services terminating at Chester via Warrington Bank Quay.
