Wow ulster rush home from school, straight out to York for the 17-10 n get off at Marsden. Was on 124 (hm monster) , that day. Also a remember 40164 wow bit of a rare 40 around Yorkshire. 164 was formerly a Scottish bucket.. Great memorys 😄😄
Yer if remember correctly,40164 it ended up on the Preston portions the same weekend. also a think a ended up at Stranraer from Carlisle following week and the Carlisle Leeds snc
Love these old clipsbrings back a lot of memories of York and seeing those people on the platform waving stuff away. Did prefer that old layout though especially the two centre roads.
Don't forget the IC125 or H.S.T's as they were called then were very new,. They were modern, futuristic, and boring when compared to the Deltic and Class 40's. e.t.c. They were mostly disliked by the majority and considered the worst of the worst. I never liked them then, and the passing of time hasn't changed my opinion of them.
I think it was a cross country turn. The York-KX stoppers had finished by then, I don’t think there was anything loco hauled that did the ECML to York or beyond from KX in the daytime at that stage.
A shame to think that the Loco is long dead, I think? They were my favourate loco when I was 14, somebody told me there were non left on BR and I realised why I had never seen one! bah!
does lack run round ability though I take your points about rationalization , sometimes over rationalization / doing things on the cheap can backfire which means fines in this blame culture / fragmentized /dysfunctional railway . A lot of cost cutting on the ECML , notorious for pylons and wires coming down
If you were more mature you'd be able to accept that some people have different interests to you without having to post abusive comments about the material they have taken the trouble to upload. Grow up.
These boxes of shit were singularly responsible for the early withdrawal of the Stanier pacifics. I know which I would rather have over Shap and Beattock.
Wonderful footage returns so many happy memories. Thank you!
Healey Mills class 40's and drivers, Simply the best happy days
The most posted comment on these superb videos, should always be please invent a time machine and take me back to these great days.

Wow, small world! Yeah, the 17.10 dropped quite a lot in 1983. Never had 164…..

@@jonathanwood2465 maybe thinking of 40160. went to Stranraer then Hull on the same day 1984.
almost broadcast quality, that was one expensive camera in it's day!
What memories, miss the class 40's, lost alot of interest today in railways, just full of emu's/dmu's. bring back loco hauled trains.

Lovely stuff Jake, this is exciting! We all love your archive Class 40 footage and so keep on posting. John Wantling, Rochdale
Amazing footage - pure nostalgia and phenomenal quality - as suggested above, you should consider getting a DVD done, especially for CFPS.
Great video Jake. Says alot for the Class 40 that it is of more interest than the IC125 in the film.

Note the Class 31 at the beginning had number at both ends.
Feck me, I bet that 31 was on a Deltic turn by the looks of the stock. Shocking to think they ditched quality traction for that crap.b

Great video remember some off the rail staff on duty as well
Hopefully going to do 40013 through here in October
The loco is indeed long dead, however there is one left running on the mainline, go to the cfps website for further info.
fantastic
So do I, and it isn't a kettle!!! Still bitter after all these years, dear oh dear.
What a top video, did you beat that rancid thing on the other platform to chaloners whin then??
yep a class 40 any day
Happy days indeed!
wow look at the old hst's livery
We tried our best but unfortunately lost. It was fun trying though!
Hmmm - Why don't you race a class 31 against a class 45 or a 47 (both with almost twice the power of the 31) and see if the 31 beats it?
@4SRKT What version of top trumps did mummy give you for your birthday?
A shame to think that the Loco is long dead, I think?

And to think now,its a 3 car 185 unit,oh well,shouldnt knock it,its called "progress" ,thanks for posting

I read somewhere that they used the minimum number of pylons per mile - don't know how true that is.
Really? That has made me like them even more. Rancid kettles.
Thank feck I'm not then!
It must be an age thing. If you were older, you would understand.
