The original GM actuator is only $50 for my premium Cadillac XTS. The mechanic's price to replace it is $356. After watching this video, his price is worth it. I would have broken my arm, the fire thingy, and the padel thingy. Great video! 🤪
HAHA thanks for the comment. This repair is for sure not for everyone! Probably why I have back problems....
Agreed! Great vid and pointers to make it less painful 👏 Cheers 🍻
Nice work.. got tired of switching these darn things. I wait til the AC starts blowing strong. Unplug it. Repeat process during the winter
That works great too haha
Awesome video. Great job keeping everything in focus and showing exactly where/how your arm fits in to do the removal. I haven't had to do this yet on mine but it is "clicking" sometimes so might be a raplcament in my future.😁
Glad it was helpful! and thanks for the kind words:)
great video with all necessary steps and details. thanks!
thanks for the comment!
Thanks for video. How many blend door actuator are there in the 2008 cts 3.6L DI AWD?
2 for blending, 1 mode door, and 1 for max ac
I might just be lucky, but I've done all three actuators and I've found if you get the easy screw out and then wiggle it back and forth slowly, the tab will break off of the actuator then you have easy access to the other screw
That's great advice!!
Is this for the driver side only ????
Hi Gage!! I have clicking happening in my 2013 CTS center console. Dealership quoted $1400 to replace this actuator. For now, it doesn’t stick on one specific vent. It blows out where I want it to. The clicking seems to come and go, not a consistent problem, but it’ll click even when my system is completely off. Thoughts? I feel I could handle this repair after watching your video. Thanks
Hey there! A failing actuator often is intermittent before it fails stuck in a certain position. You need to do is figure out which motor is failing. To do that, you will need to cycle each one when the engine is fully warm. 1. move the recirculate door. Its the one that keep fresh air in the car. 2. move the air vent door. From defrost to face, to feet. 3. Move the driver blend door from hot to cold and back. 4. move the passenger door from hot to cold and back. At some point in this process, you should here a door click. Make sure you are giving each door time to complete it's motion before making the next adjustment so you can be sure in your diagnosis!
@@gagefixeseverythingMr. Gage, so if it’s not cooling on the passenger side, there is an actuator on that side ? Or the one you change is the one for that side too?
Hey I just came across your video and I think it may help my problem but I wanted to get your opinion first. I have cold air blowing out of my vents on both sides, but nothing is coming out of my middle vents. Well the air flow is very weak. And I have changed the cabin air filter already.
Sounds like MODE door actuator
Is this something you need to fix ASAP?
Only if it bothers you.
I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to get it fixed cause the summer is coming and it's going to be hot lol but it's not going to affect the engine or anything. It's really up to u if u wanna get it fixed
I can’t get the door open to get at the actuator? Any tips? I see u got those screws out on the actuator ? Would that be necessary? It’s really stumped ne
Yes you need to remove the screws
I have air coming from all vents aside from the face vents.. same part to replace?
No, that is your MODE door actuator
Have a vid on vent mode actuator? Having trouble figuring out glove box removal. Thanks in advance.
I dont im sorry!
Great video, and thanks for making it. My ‘09 CTS-V started doing this today (summer in FLA). Cold on driver side, hot on passenger and in back. Is there a unit for the passenger side, or just the driver side? Thanks again for your help.
Yes there is a door for the passenger side as well!
@@gagefixeseverything
Figured. If the problem is on the passenger side, do you think the passenger side unit is the likely culprit? Again, many thanks!
Trying to take out an actuator motor piece out from the junkyard piece from a 2011 Cadillac CTS into a 2012 Cadillac CTS that specific tool is definitely needed
100% !
Thank you so much. I need a friend like you. I appreciate your time and your video for explaining this. where can I get that mini tool set magnetic like yours. You got a new follower...
Thanks for the kind words :) here are the tools i use: Micro ratchet wrench: amzn.to/44WW7Sf
bits: amzn.to/3pDnDE4
Can you make it turn to heat till you get the new one
Yes you can! Turn it manually, and leave it unplugged
While I wait a few days for my part to come in, Is it possible to just manually change the cold to hot by changing position of the connecting bar?
Yes, you can do that for sure
Hey can you please tell me how to switch the white arm... Trying to do the driver's side on my DTS that word of the Delco part but it doesn't have the Arm on it so I have to switch them out... Just don't want to break it and then have nothing to use ya know 😜
Just take the phillips screw out and transfer it over
@@gagefixeseverything no screw it the arm just a pin that sticks out of the arm and goes in the Channel
The DTS is a little bit different and I have the denso but need to transfer my arm over and I can't tell if it's pressed or whatever whatever it is it's tight and I don't want to break it., I've got every tool known to man just about but I am at a loss as it's not wanting to come off and I have not seen a video of anyone actually swapping the arm from old one to new one....
@@gagefixeseverything I wish it was just a screw.. but if you look at driver side Cadillac DTS it is just a little bit different actuator
I wanted to ask what, does this problem fix.. My issue is my two heating vents blow cold air when the heat is on but my two passenger ones blow hot air..
Yes this should do it!
Will this stop the vibrating and knocking sounds when u turn?
Im not sure it has anything to do with a sound made when turning. i wouldnt think so
I did that now my a/c and heater work fine but it’s now stuck on defrost and floor I have to command on face vents on my cadi, any help?
Sounds like you have an issue with the MODE door actuator or linkage
I have a 13 cts.. Ac only blows from bottom vent at the feet.. No matter the setting.. I can control the temp and power but.. Won't blow from other vents.. Could this be the fix or na
That is going to be the MODE door actuator. very similar repair
@@gagefixeseverything where would I find the mode door actuator? If I may ask?.. I have a coupe but it's the only car I have and I pick up my 2 yr old tmr.. Worried
You were right.. Finally got to doing it. Thank you so much brother
is the passenger side any easier?
I have not had to do one of those actually
But it did not change I don’t know what’s wrong either side will blow heat I put a new thermostat in both lines going to heater core is hot do you have a clue
You probably need to have it properly diagnosed
2010 CTS blows heat on pass side while ac Is on & blows heat on driver side regularly. What do you suggest?
You need to replace the actuator
I have 2008 CTs I turn ac on but my back seat passenger vent blow hot air how do I fix the issue?
Blend air motor
Hi good night! I just changed my blend door actuator on my Cadillac CTS 2011, I did the same procedure than the video, but the passenger side still blowing hot air, the driver side blows cold and hot air, the blend door actustor is working because I saw it moving and changing position but it does only change the temperature on the driver side

@@gagefixeseverything ?
Did you ever come to a conclusion you have the same problem
Typo I have the same issue
@@llcool.j3437 no bro, still not working, sometimes is blowing cold air sometimes not, I think it’s a electrical problem because sometimes I lost some dashboards lights like from the temperature adjusters or the heated seats
how many blend door is on the 08 cad cts?, 3?, just asking since I disconnected the hardness from all 3 and I am still hearing a clicking sound from the dash.
There are 4 on the dual climate zone models
What about mode actuator
I do not have a video on that one
This works for 06 to?
It is similar
2011 CTS, ac blows fine and heat as well but there’s a constant clicking noise that doesn’t go away and gets so loud and annoying, could switching this fix the issue on the sound ? Thanks
Yes, the clicking is one of the main indicators of a failing actuator motor
Just did this today did not solve my problem
Getting heat on vent to the left of the steering wheel but the driver defogger/ Center and floor still blowing cool. Passenger is hot
Same with mine bro If I find the fix I will let you know
For me when I go to put it on the front vents I get a clicking noise ..so I’m assuming it’s a relay somewhere…maybe a blower relay
There are several of these motors on the car that controls different things
@@gagefixeseverything is there a way I can manually turn the heat on to feet until I get this figured out because I disassembled the blend door actuator that I replaced trying to do this because it did not fix
@@gagefixeseverything ?
I need help....there is a vibrating coming from the area in your video I thought it was coming from that 1st piece of white plastic. It doesn't buzz constantly but often on more when I I use the heat or air

Cadillac CTS blowing ac on foot area only. What to do???
Your mode actuator is bad most likely
Will this work on a 2009 Calla STS 3.6
Should be the same
Nope much more difficult had to do mine on my 08 sts passenger side
gracias por tu video
Thanks for the comment :)
Does this apply for a 2010 Cadillac SRX?
Yes if it has the same key fob setup
Thank you
heck yeah
I need to do this on my 2015 CTS. unfortunately, your dates are wrong and the 2nd Gen ended in 2013...So this was no help at all for me with a Gen 3. For the Gen 2 it is fine.
Dang you're right.... i need to fix my dates. Im sorry
PLEASE HELP!! My AC is working fine but the temperature cannot be raised on the passenger side! I can make it cooler but not hotter! Why is that?
The blend air motor is stuck
see mine is stuck on the floor I need that video lol
DANG!
So when you say getting stuck meaning one side blowing hot and one cold
Yes
i just bought a 2013 cadillac cts but its not pushing any air through the vents at all, ac or heat.. any idea where to start checking?
If you hear the fan turning, its most likely the MODE door actuator
@@gagefixeseverything my Cadillac is only blowing air out of the feet vents would that be the mode door actuator aswell?
2012 CTS Wagon 3.6 here. Need some help. The heat in my car is cooling off as it warms up. It starts off hot after my morning warm up. When it gets up to full temp, it starts cooling off. This started happening when I had it set at 72° then had to turn it up to about 80° after it hit full temp. Now I have it set at 85° and have to turn it up to 90° after full temp to get same effect. It doesn't sound like a thermostat issue to me nor is my coolant level low. Could THIS be the culprit?
I would check the basics first. Make sure your coolant level is good, no leaks. Then check to see if the heater hose lines IN and OUT are hot when its fully warmed up. The heater core could be clogged. There is also an electric AUX coolant pump that commonly fails on these. If all those check out, you can check the blend air motor
My 08 Cadillac CTS passenger side it’s not blowing cold air. It’s there another one like this on the passenger side?
Yes there is, I have not done a video on that side unfortunately
Hi, my 2010 Cadillac CTS blows out cold air on the driver side when I turn on the heat. Would this same part work for my issue as well?
Yes!
