Despite the fact that he played against the second most HOF player at his position(only behind kareem and parish, which he played 7 years less than both) He PLAYED THE MOST TOTAL GAMES against another hof center….see list below lol
(mind you these are their barefoot heights, in the modern NBA you would add 1-2 inches to their height, as players have been measured in their shoes only after 1977)
C-Bill Russell: 6’10” HOF (143 games played in 9 seasons)
C-Kareem Abdul Jabbar: 7'2" HOF(27 games played in 4 seasons)
      C-Willis Reed: 6,10” HOF(72 games played in 8 seasons)
      C-Walt Bellamy: 6'11" HOF(100 games played in 11 seasons)
      C-Artis Gilmore: 7'2" HOF
      C-Bob Lanier: 6'11" HOF(17 games played in 3 seasons)
      C-Nate Thurmond: 6'11" HOF(47 games played in 4 seasons)
C-Bob McAdoo: 6’10” HOF (5 games played in 1 season)
      C-Elvin Hayes:6’9 “ HOF (22 games played in 4 seasons)
(Wes Unseld is also a HOF center but he is 6’7) (26 times in 5 seasons)
(Dave Cowens is also a HOF Center/Forward but he is 6”9)(17 games played in 3 seasons)
(Connie Hawkins is also a HOF Forward/ center but he is 6”9)(31 games played in 4 seasons)
(please note there are more HOF PF who guarded and were guarded by wilt chamberlain but the majority of them are 6’8 to 6’9)
SO THATS 574 OUT OF 1045…WHICH TRANSLATES TO 54% OF WILTS GAMES BEING PLAYED AGAINST ANOTHER HOF CENTER…

Wilt's high school footage is 70 years old now. 70. He looks normal for today but it's 70 years ago. No advanced metric training or recovery stuff. No equipment or modern shoes. He could step into the NBA today out of 1950's high school and play.

When you say it like that, it really puts into perspective how good this guy was. I'm not a big sports fan, but I watch a lot of esports. Everything evolves, the skill floor gets higher and higher, and it becomes harder to even compete. The idea that someone from a past era could come in and wreck shit today is crazy. I can think of only a few examples of people who could do that in their games and they're all absolute monsters. Dude was bonjwa before bonjwa was even a concept

    • @genehenson8851

No, he couldn’t. This is an outrageous statement. He had no basketball skills and played against barely-athletic people a foot shorter than him. He’d get wrecked in the modern nba with his 1950s skills.

@@genehenson8851I think it's the opposite actually, the modern NBA doesn't enforce double dribbles, travelling, carrying, or offensive fouls like they did back then.
It was a more skillful time. Wilt would have been an all NBA player in any era.

    • @lotuslife3239
      @lotuslife3239 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@xXMegaWeaponXx Casuals don't put the rules of the game into perspective. Hell Hakeem and Jordan took advantage of no real zone defense in the 90s. Defenders had to wait for the player to get the ball before they could double team. Opened up a lot for the best in the league at that point. Kobe had tougher defense on him. Imo if Shawn Kemp is athletic enough to play in today's game which he definitely is, then Wilt and Bill are easily athletic enough. Bill was a quicker more durable Anthony Davis on defense. Wilt was Rudy Gobert with supersoldier serum. And I hate putting Rudy in the same sentence as Wilt.

Sure enough, Wilt went on to improve and then plateau at “alien” levels year after year. It will be interesting to see how high Wemby’s plateau goes - he has some huge shoes to fill. Thank you very much for this video. It's nice to see someone give Wilt Chamberlain some love. However I disagree with you on Wilt not being dominant in today's era of basketball. The first thing is, Wilt could definitely shoot the basketball. He spent most of his career hitting that great fade away jumper. The video footage clearly shows that. He also had the finger roll. Wilt would dominant in rebounds and minutes played per game. He would lead the league in blocks as well. The only thing he truly struggled with his entire career was free throw shooting. His strength was unmatched. This era of basketball is very very soft. No one would be able to stop Wilt in this era. He may also be the most athletic player to ever play basketball. His peers made it very clear that Wilt could do whatever he wanted to on a basketball court. They also said they were glad Wilt was a nice man and they were glad that he took it easy on them due to his inhuman strength . We will never see another Wilt Chamberlain

Another crazy thing that this video missed is that Wilt played just under 20 years of pro volleyball after he retired from the NBA, ending up in their HoF too. So, he was a pro athlete for at least 33 years even if one doesn't count his time with the Globetrotters. Having seen a game in person, I think the Globetrotters qualify as pros.

If a prime Wilt played today you are wrong he would be even more dominant that is my conclusion but i do not have a modern day basketball bias as i saw both 70s B ball and 2020s B ball and many of the players today would not make it on a 1960s team despite all the praise they get today and all the nasty remarks made about the greats of yesterday. The 60s Celtics would wipe the floor with any team today and Wilt would dominate any center today. Wilt would be listed at 7 ft 3 or 4 today as tall as Wemby but much bigger heavier wider more muscular and much stronger very scary though he was a monster. They measure players today in shoes that have a 2 inch thick sole. Wilt always downplayed his height with many saying he was actually 7 ft 2 in barefoot measurements and i believe this. When Wilt took photos with Shaq and other supposedly 7 ft modern soft soy players of today he dwarfed them looking as much as 5 inches taller than them!!! Isiah Thomas said their 7 ft modern centers compared to 7 ft Wilt which looked to him to be a different kind of 7 ft as in he seemed much bigger the video surrounded the 1996 50 greatest players ceremony.

Most casual fans have been mislead about Wilt's playoff stats. here's an example. These are Wilt's 1967 playoff stats by series. He would have won FMVP but the award didn't exist. His game highs for points was 41, rebounds 41, assists 19 and blocks 15.

@@jasonnelson6624 I agree Bill never beat Wilt the Boston Celtics beat Wilt teams. The fact Wilt played only 13 full seasons they should change career points because any player can just hang around even an average one and play 25 years and break career scoring records they should go by how many points after 10 year mark. With Russell, they always give more credit because many idiots can not seem to wrap their head around the fact basketball is a team game and teams win championships not individual players so i do not care how many championships a player has it does not tell me anything about the player. It might tell me that he was lucky and got with the right team. You can have a great player that has no championships and a average one with many the way fans and media thinks they will say the average player is better even though on a one on one he would lose. Wilt still is getting a bum rap he is the goat and anyone with a brain knows this. He scored 4029 points in one season MJ is 1000 points short of him in his best season that make Chamberlain the goat with out me knowing anything else about him but when you factor in all the other stats and records and the ones the Harvey recorded for blocks and such it puts him way over the top. Kareem knows a prime Wilt would have destroyed him a old injured Wilt beat him when he had to despite his age and injures the guy was the top alpha and Kareem knows it but he will never admit it maybe one day he will.

I grew up and Lawrence (location of Kansas University) and he is idiolized. Unfortunately while he was there he still had to deal with racists and bigots. He didn't come back to visit for a LONG time, but eventually came back when we retired his jersey and was greatful to the town for loving him so much and trying to silence the racists and bigots. A local Lawrence legend Don Gardner (better known as Red Dog) was on the track team with Wilt at KU and said even if he didnt have the stamina, his stride length alone was enough to make him an all time ELITE runner/jumper. It's alleged he could bench press 500Lbs in college and banged over 20,000 women...
Also, not sure if it was mentioned but when Ali's Manager/trainer saw Wilt fight he IMMEDIATELY told Ali not to do it because Wilt was so fucking strong and his reach was so much of and advantage he didn't think Ali would be able to get any hits off and would be hurt by Wilt. I love Wilt and am so greatful to say he went to KU, and knowing I've walked down the same streets at him, sat in restaurants he went too, and watched games in the stadium he set so many records in makes me proud to be from good ole LFK.
