    I love the idea of no seller fees, but having buyers pay an additional fee with purchases will not go over well. I think it would just give buyers ANOTHER reason (like having to pay A LOT more for shipping) to buy things on Amazon.

    • @FlippingandPunching
      @FlippingandPunching  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Buyers do not like change. Buyers are creatures of habit. I think they would complain for a month and things would go back to normal.

      @@FlippingandPunching Look at what happened with Mercari. I don't sell on that platform, but I know a lot of people who do/did. I would rather these selling platforms just reduce their seller fees instead of gouging our eyes out. It's bad enough that shipping prices are pushing buyers away. Adding additional fees definitely won't help. Just my opinion. 😉

    • @ShredderMediaRetro
      @ShredderMediaRetro 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      This is exactly what happened when Mercari introduced zero selling fees, the fees go onto the buyer. Mercari sales already weren't my main selling platform vs eBay. I still get plenty of higher dollar purchases on Mercari even with the fees. I also have bought several items on Mercari even as a seller it doesn't bother me too much but it also creates more negotiating room because the seller doesn't have to think about the fees.

      who would prefer ebay over amazon for new items? ebay shines with used items.. sneakers.. antiques.. rare items etc. ebay needs to focus on this and stop trying to become amazon. that's the problem.

    Instead of having 1 side of the transaction to pay ALL the fees, what if they split the fees between the buyers and sellers.

      Ultimately, that would give the sellers less fees which would make them happy. The buyer would pay a slightly higher price. It wouldn't be such a dramatic shift. I would be ok with that. I would love lower selling fees, lol.

    Glad you guys are safe over there. My understanding of the no seller fees in the UK is that it is only for private sellers not Sellers with Stores. I don't feel that they will attract average buyers with charging them fees. To attract people to look at eBay as a shopping option when making online purchases for their needs/wants/gifts I don't think adding more $$ as fees will do that. When I talk to people about eBay they usually say "but Amazon is so much faster and cheaper". Maybe I don't explain eBay well enough but I feel that the average shopper would not understand more fees on top of taxes and shipping. I wish they would do a public campaign about reusing, recycling, upcycling and being able to find what you need/want on eBay platform. Many of us sellers take time and effort to make sure we are putting out quality items; cleaning/prepping and even some times repairing to make sure items do not end up in the land fill and can get to a new home. This is just my opinion. Although making money a priority for me selling on eBay, I am a little bit of a romantic in that I want to save the world of its unnecessary garbage, LOL!

    • @FlippingandPunching
      @FlippingandPunching  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I agree what Ebay needs to do more to attract buyers. I feel like that has been lacking for years. I get feeling that eBay doesn't think they need to attract buyers since they already had over a 130 million users. This change international has added more sellers to the Germany market. They have been trying this since 2023 over there. The vibe I got from the reports is that ebay is stating more Sellers have turned into buyers because of this process. They are hoping to continue that trend in the Uk with these new changes. Hopefully these changes due help to keep more items out of landfills.

  • @margaretbidinotto2995
    @margaretbidinotto2995 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    Perhaps on high end items, Ebay could get away with buyer's premiums. But already many of us sellers get requests to lower our prices (even when they're rock bottom to begin with). I have to think that a buyer's premium will just drive customers away.

    • @FlippingandPunching
      @FlippingandPunching  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I can see that. They are seeing growth in sellers on the platform international due to no selling fees. They are stating that more of those sellers are buying now. I would need to see more data to see how that would work out for them long time. I am on the fence with it.

Ebay have promised to email all private sellers that sell too much to give them an ultimatum to switch to a business account or face a lifetime ban. I'm hoping ebay reduce or remove fees for businesses to align with vinted. Or even just pay a one off monthly subscription. Vinted is the biggest growing platform here all the younger people use it.

    I stopped eBay selling because the fees tripled over the years

      They have gone up over the years but it’s still a lot cheaper than opening up my own site. I get it though. It seems like fees across the board have been on the rise.

    Anything changes eBay implements is solely for increasing revenues. No selling fees for UK Sellers was to force them to move to a business account. Which they will have to pay a monthly fee. eBay also decrease the amount of free listings for private Sellers in the UK. This is all conjecture anticipating no selling fees for US Sellers. People have to stop thinking how the platform changes impact them directly. Thinking eBay is going to make a major fee change in the Sellers favor is short sighted. You think eBays CEO is clueless? eBays stock price has increased 50% this past year. I rarely see any TH-camrs showing videos on what’s working them on eBay. Mostly complaining about slow sales, fees, glitches, imaginary shut downs. The small percentage of Sellers who actually run their stores like a business are having success. Being a one person show is not a business no matter how many tens of thousands of listings you have.

      You are correct. This is sales 101. I worked sales for many years. The company would change up our commission structure every six months or so to benefit them while still dangling the carrot in front of us. Businesses will make changes to increasing their bottom line. Implementing changes to their platform is always with their stockholders in mind first and foremost.
      I have been selling on eBay for 25 years now. These videos are done to open up discussion on the possibles of what may come down the line. We are seeing pattern in fee changes across multiple selling platforms such has eBay, Mercari, and Poshmark.
      Selling on eBay is a business. Being a one man show is not a scalable business. At some point you have to make the decision on expanding the business by hiring outside help or being content at a ceiling. It’s not always about making the most money for some. For some it’s about being happy and doing what you love. Some are able to balance both, while others lean one way or another. The greatest thing about reselling is there are many ways to do it. You just have to find what works best for you. I appreciate the comment and the discussion.

      With the hurricane aftermath. Sorry to hear about Mr Jack not feeling well, just do the right thing for him and not for you. I just went through that with one our dogs, one of the hardest decisions I had to make, do I put him on his journey over the rainbow bridge or do I keep him going for my emotional well being. I decided to send him on his journey. He was like my shadow, always right by my side, always at the door when I got home from work, I miss him bad but I think about his suffering and know it was the right decision.
