Oh good, someone mentioned it, I thought I was the only one who saw globs of grease sticking off his face like some reject from super mario brothers movie. Only Mac could aspire to such greatness.
I felt like I was watching for at least 10 minutes, clicked the screen and saw I was at 3. This video captures my attention and imagination so effectively I lost any internal sense of time I ever had, and was sucked out of reality.
Rasyid Agam yeah I think it’s easy to see through the jokes if you already know all of this, but someone confused only got the idea that they need mics and a full range speaker. That’s just enough to get started but doesn’t give anyone the nitty gritty, like recording different band meme era in different spaces in the room other wise the song will sound like everyone was recorded standing inside eachother.
Neighbor who lives next door to a studio and has no idea that a Vaseline-Faced Mac DeMarco has run a conglomerate of cabling into his basement: WHAT IS ALL THIS WARBLY MUSIC ALL DAY ALL THE TIME??? and scene.
Well, yes, he’s covered in vasoline, but he has a lot of really nice equipment, and a very soothing way about him. I’m going to choose to follow this man. In all things.
More like the 100k + in gear. Pultec,Neve, Neuman. Thats some home studio, personally id drop that Tascam and replace with a Studer A80 if theres room left after the echo chamber.
Very usefull and straight to the point! Unlike those other tutorial videos here on youtube where they speak for +-30 minutes and you've learned nothing... thank you and keep up the good work!
Thanks to your very informative video I made an investment and bought the neighbor's house to turn it into a reverb chamber with 4 different reverb rooms. The renters love hearing the snare drum at any hour of the day! ...and it's all cool because it's written into the lease.
When he says "how about some electronic guitar" the second time; and it was only there for like 2 seconds, I nearly bust my gut! And couldn't stop laughing for like 5 minutes after the video had already ended.
I love the way those drums are mic’d up. I’m just now getting into recording live drums and would love some tips/good things to remember when recording drums
1:04 Do you have an empty room in your house? What about a garage? A pantry, a loft, a basement, an attic, a cellar, a pantry? All of these places can be transformed into a room to make someone elses daughter look like me
Quite honestly, one of the best pieces of gear that’s in this vid is the mic he’s talking into; the EV 635a. A cheap omni that is fantastic as a room mic, among other things
any opinion on the re50? from what i’ve read its the same capsule and all as the 635 but in a different body. found one for very cheap might buy but there’s not nearly as much info on it as the 635
so cool! can we reverse engineer this and turn a reverb pedal into a spare room? i need more space in my house. (have a lot of reverb pedals to store)
funny seeing you here lol. I too need to repurpose some Echo/Reverb into an empty room... maybe a pantry? Or a garage... or a pantry...
hahaha this made me chuckle. love your channel!
pantry
Be careful with the settings, you could accidentally end up with a large hall.
I never expected Andrew seeing a Mac tutorial wtf
Very kind of him to show us his chamber of reflections.
Someone’s gonna look up “how to set up an echo chamber” and this will be the first result. I can’t wait.
Someone greasy and with no business in music whatsoever
😄 I'm dead 🖤💀⚰⚱
Thats exactly why im here i didnt even know this existed
Just made that 666 likes. Rock on 🤘
Im here
At 03:00 i liked that you made the editing choice of walking forward, only to cut it back to just standing where you started. Exquisite.
my favorite part
Loke seven seconds later he continues lmao
... this is on purpose and I think you know it.
That’s so French New Wave, David Lynch and waiting for Godot
This may be the realest example of what recording by yourself feels like
No Vaseline. But with Vaseline
Yeah, nobody gets his inner joy.
very practical! i decided my daughter will live with her grandmother now, and ive already started coating her bedroom walls with concrete
Listen to those reflections of a dysfunctional home life
Even though this whole thing is done as a joke I love that it's actually a proper tutorial and real information!
What do you mean a joke
What do you mean a joke.

God it's so nice to hear real reverb, just sounds so good
Absolutely,
So true, you can really hear the dynamics
uh huh
Thanks for the tutorial Mac, unfortunately I seem to have sealed myself into the small room beneath my house with concrete.
This made me laugh really hard
Just listen to the sound of your breathing...
The reverb sounds so good holy shit
I was blown away. Best reverb sound I’ve ever heard honestly, next to plate reverb
i can't figure whether this video is calming me or giving me anxiety.
Just embrace the ambiguity ✨🌺😺🍆😼
WOOOOOORD there is something unsettling about it
these kids claiming that everythings gives them AnXiEtY
feels like a 80s tutorial but 10 times more relaxing
Hahahaha
honestly mac is just flexing on all of us with his gear
I really want Mac to release an entire ambient album. He knows how to make it dreamy.
U happy now???
@@olehmoskalyuk4509 💀💀💀
@@olehmoskalyuk4509 it’s not ambient!!!

brooo you got 8 hours of what you wished for
“Get a load of those reflections” killed me haha
Skin care is so important. Bless you mac!
For real. I heard Gwyneth Paltrow uses this technique.
In all seriousness he probably did this for a bit, then made a habit out of it.
Wtf
Oh good, someone mentioned it, I thought I was the only one who saw globs of grease sticking off his face like some reject from super mario brothers movie. Only Mac could aspire to such greatness.
Watched this years ago, wasn't aware of who Mac DeMarco was. Later, became a fan and now I'm watching this and am having quite a moment
Good advice given at impossibly slow rates. Love it
Love this show. It scratches my weird esoteric itch and presents legitimately informative audio lessons with killer music to boot.
In me it scratches a late-90s feeling. Like Beekman's World or Andy Milonakis show. Of course, with all the incredible audio lessons in it.
I felt like I was watching for at least 10 minutes, clicked the screen and saw I was at 3. This video captures my attention and imagination so effectively I lost any internal sense of time I ever had, and was sucked out of reality.
The edits pulled me in deeper
Then the electric guitar finally sealed me in
This video felt like reading the Cask of Amontillado
This is comedy gold. I've been cracking up non stop and only 4mins in. The commitment, the edits, it's perfect.
Apart from the jokes included, this is a really helpful tutorial imo
"Wauw, awesome jokes included, it made the really helpfull tutorial even better?!"
@@thomaseiler6588 but some people may find the jokes quite distracting, maybe tho
Are you gonna use this
Rasyid Agam yeah I think it’s easy to see through the jokes if you already know all of this, but someone confused only got the idea that they need mics and a full range speaker. THATS HOW MAC DOES IT BAY BEEEE, lil funny here lil funny there, but all the into is LEGIT 0.0 fo real, helpful stuff.
rock and roll tiger
My boy McBriare DeMarco went from looking 24 to looking 40 in the space of a year.
What a feat!
Date Mike 10 years ago he was 20. He is 30 now. In ten years he will be 40.
FeAt 😍
Fat Demarco
"Perhaps some electronic guitar... Perhaps some electric guitar." WHY is THIS the part that took me out?
...Or a pantry.
finally someone who died at that same part

I mean, just his face - clean hands in the studio
What Vaseline? 😐
Mac builds a chamber of reflection.
An echo chamber has never been so motivational and inspirational on a spiritual level
The proof he is now making real money: his transition from Viceroy to MARLBORO.
*marlboro
😂😂
lol really funny
Juul now actually
More like the 100k + in gear. Pultec,Neve, Neuman. Thats some home studio, personally id drop that Tascam and replace with a Studer A80 if theres room left after the echo chamber.
I cannot believe that he made a reverb chamber out of an empty room under an adjacent house, inspiring
The Editing sits somewhere between Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Tim and Eric Show and Chris Morris' Jam. Epic.
JJJJJJJAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMM
I love how dude has his coffee sitting on thousands of dollars of rackmounts, under an actual reel to reel. Legend.
No one ever expected this to be as relaxing as it is...
This is what Audio Engineering feels like, if anyone asks show em this
This made me miss Mac’s lounge vibes, that reverb is pure ecstasy.
That screen share is legit. Truly for the people’s people.
This is actually a really relaxing video to play in the background
This was beautiful Mac. Thank you for instructing us on how to build an Echo Chamber.
*echo or reverb chamber
This has to be the greatest video ever created.
That reverbed synthesized electric piano sound is exquisite
You buy a reverb pedal and think you’re the king, home boi concreted a basement floor to ceiling just for room reverb.
Then the neighboors complain about noise & come to an empty concrere room, with a speaker & 2 mics and go what the??
when u hit the piano with some of that good BASEMENT
Basement piano really does hit different
This is one of the most beautiful videos I have ever seen
Very usefull and straight to the point!
Unlike those other tutorial videos here on youtube where they speak for +-30 minutes and you've learned nothing... thank you and keep up the good work!
I really appreciate the fact that his head was covered in petroleum jelly for a good half hour while filming this.
"UUUWWW"
"Wow, get a load of those reflections"
When Ice Cube wrote the song "No Vaseline" i assume he for told the future of this man and decided he wasnt going to be like this man.
This actually provided more educational content then most things on youtube. Thank you.

"Just a pinch for me" ffs hahahahahaha
once you get past the vasoline, this is a really smooth video
This is both absolutely mental and informative.
Please re-purpose me into an Echo / Reverb Chamber for a Studio.
The echo chamber makes me crave a mac atmospheric synthy album

Love the key going in the door and then the opening the door. Felt right.
This is how a total identity crisis feels like, but when you still know you like audio lol
1 of the strangest things ive ever watched...but one of the best demonstrations of reamping. 🔥🔥🔥
I love this, and now… I'm starting to love myself.
I just figured out this is Mac DeMarco. I’ve been watching these funny videos for the past couple months and never realized it until today.
this is my favourite episode of Joe Pera Talks With You
This channel is like a hidden gem.
I'm so glad I found out about the Radial Cat5 device from watching this.... More importantly, I'm also so glad I "found myself"
why is nobody talking about how this is absolutely fucking hilarious
Agree 😁

Low key banger right there. even the bg music in the vid vibes.
This was one of the most oddly remedial experiences of my life.
Am I the only one who got super relaxed and fuzzy feeling while watching this?? XD
This is so relaxing. Like Bob Ross for... what's this about? Recording techniques, right 😄
Man what i wouldn't give to have the full instrumental he made at the end just to listen to. its so good

this was so laid back and clever subtle comedy from Maccie, loved this the chamber sounds brilliant
I find myself returning to this video every now and then, its hypnotic and I dont like it...
