I have a Z18 doing the same thing. Found Motorsocks and added that a couple months ago. Going to use your tip for the non-slip adhesive to clean it up so it looks better.
Yea I wish I knew about Motor Sock a long time ago!…and that non slip pad hides the scratches perfectly, you would never know they’re there, thanks for watching!

Hey NitroZ18. Thanks for the video. I also just bought a Z18 and just measured for my motor sock. I want to include the trolling motor sock. Did you have to provide a measurement for this and provide the measurement when you ordered? I did not see anything on the YT website about including this measurement for the trolling motor. appreciate the help. Love your boat!

I added an 8 inch jack plate to my Z7, so that seemed to move the tube back far enough so as not to be a problem.

Ah ok, so it’s not just the Nitro’s…wish I knew about this Motor Sock sooner!
I know boats are expensive and you want to take care of it. But I’ve never seen anyone concerned about the splash well. But it does look like a cool product.

I have a 2019 z20 same thing. You can also take out the 3 screws where it goes it to the boat and turn that and it will adjust the tube so it's not so long.

Hey Dave!…I got them from ZDecals, but unfortunately I’m not sure if they make them anymore…I would send them an email and ask, hope you can get em from them!
My Nitro has this issue... has the non skid damaged the sock when it rubs against it?
No sir, sock still looks like new!…it actually helps keep tube from moving around much at all, the sock almost “sticks” to the pad in a way, but no damage up to this point!
You got the 10” sock for the motor?
If I remember correctly the smaller of the 2 pieces was 10”, but I would have to measure to be sure….if ya use the fishing line method like I show in video it’ll give ya the exact length ya need…that’s the best way to make sure, especially on the piece that goes around the bend…hope that helps!
Great Information! Still waiting for the Z18 I ordered in March. I'll get the Motor Socks ordered pronto. One other question if I might? I hear a lot of reports of the Lowrance sunscreens flying off on the road. What product are you using on your boat to keep them in place as I ca see in the background of the video?

I would use the tape. I would measure the outside length so it will come out long. Better too long than too short.
Off topic comment I see your running dual 12s. It looks like you have a motorized pole for Active target. What pole are you running and do you like it.

@@NitroZ18Fishing That's the one I want for active target. Problem is I run a motorguide XI5. Website says it only supports the ghost and ultrex.
Ah man, yea that's no good...because of the way it mounts to motor it wouldn't work...unfortunately most of these types of mounts won't work with the Xi5 and similar

That’s a good question…haha…I use Boat Bling Vinyl Sauce so I never even though to try it… maybe somebody else can chime in who has used it for that reason!
Yes 303 makes a solution for the seats, blue bottle....
hey thanks for the tip. i just checked my 2021 nitro z18 with 2020 175 pro sx and my harness comes out on the other of my motor and seems to have enough clearance along the area that yours was rubbing but i will keep an eye on it and repair if needed, thanks for sharing and i have been doing a few mods myself. maybe i should start videoing them and put them on youtube so i can buy a new house as well. lol. good for you a keep up the good work...nitrojoe

Yeah I first noticed scratches in my splash well after only about 3 months... the motor and trolling sock are cool products! I noticed your front anti-skid pad is coming up - was that factory installed or after market? The newer Nitros thankfully use this sea-deck like material now that seems to stay down better. Thanks for sharing these couple tips!

Never had an issue with my Z18
Why are people so shocked and stunned because they get “ scratches” like this? It’s because good old JM decided to use cheap gel coat products . Think about it really good . Why does this only happen on certain boats and not others? My 1986 Champion never scratched that easily.
