Since the high jump looks strikingly similar to a back handspring in gymnastics, I think when they jump over the bar, they should land on their hands and then on their feet like a back handspring!

What Madness has the IAAF done to the Athletics in the 2018 IAAF Youth Olympic Games in Argentina. Just imagine on Day 1 of competition, there is a 3000m race for Girls (Stage 1) with 21 participants and do you know that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd in that event have no medals to get as per event .... and the IAAF reason for that is, that the participants MUST compete in a 3000m Cross Country race (Stage 2) an off-road decider in 4 days time and the best finishing positions from the 2 Stages Combined will get the 3 medals available, MURDEROUS .... And it was the same procedure for the Boys 3000m (Stage 1) in which 18 athletes took part ( NO MEDALS as per event UNTIL the (Stage 2 ) an off-road decider is run etc. .... and I understand that the same format would be used for the 2000m Steeplechase for both Girls and Boys (Steeplechase/Cross Country). 2 entirely different events whereby it hurts me to say that it's like telling a Pole Vaulter that he must compete in a High Jump event with the same participants and the total height achieved from both events will decide the medal winners LOL. Also the 1500m for both Girls and Boys (1500m/Cross Country). So the Big Questions are .... (a) " Is the IAAF so low in funds that at this level, one athlete MUST compete in 2 Completely DIFFERENT EVENTS to qualify for 1 Medal ? ? ? " (b) " Why wasn't this experiment not first Tested in Swimming or Cycling ? ? ? " (c) " Is it a means of punishing Black athletes for dominating these events ? ? ? " Regardless of what it is, it's a massive SHAME .... And the stupidity continued on that Day 1 of Athletics because I was made to understand that after 3 heats in the 800m Girls, the runners with the 8 fastest times from the heats would be put into the same race , which is normal and we would call it the Final with the first 3 pass the post getting the medals in that order .... but low and behold, the format at this point is different from normal in that the heats timing (Stage 1) and that final race time (Stage 2), are added to arrive at the individual athletes' final time for the event, and medals will be distributed according to the best combined times of Stages 1 & 2, meaning that an athlete could actually win what we normally would view as the Final of the event and believe it or not still end up not being on the podium because of his/her slow timing in the heats (Stage 1), which is simply OUTRAGEOUS .... The 400m follows that same format and I can only imagine that it is the same for the 200m and 100m. So in actuality there are no FINALS in this Olympic Games and normally what used to be a final for an event and the top 3 past the post got the medals is now a heats (Stage 2) in which certain participants going into that final heat would have significant times advantage based on their heats (Stage 1) performance and an unfair advantage that would be, because certain heats have different participants with different qualities and styles and different wind conditions which significantly affects times. Would athletes times be adjusted based on the wind factor in the different heats ? ? ? Anyhow, This is a DISGRACEFUL OLYMPIC GAMES BASED ON THAT FORMAT for awarding medals in track events .... MR. THOMAS BYRNE, without delay, the deservedly earned medals for the 3000m Girls and Boys events should be awarded to the winners immediately and the accustomed Format for judging track events should be reverted to ASAP. I can't wait for the prize giving ceremony to hear what would be announced for the winners in the combined events eg. "Steeplechase/Cross Country" Gold medal winner is ........ and what would that winner resume state ...... LOL
