Nice to see a look into multiversal aspects of FF, but I can't help but think going a bit deeper into the exact roles Omega has in each game would have helped make this more of a definite source I could point other people to on the topic.
For example, while the classic story is of Omega hunting for Shinryu, in FFXI Omega is one of the machines used by Jeuno during the Chains of Promathia story to try and counter Bahamut, whom in turn is planning to destroy all life so Promathia won't have access to any if awakened - however, the Abyssea storyline is about an alternate Vana'diel where Promathia was never stopped, and assimilated lifeforms that enabled it to become Shinryu.

Omega represents the game's aspect.
Final Fantasy was meant to be the last game of Square Enix. A last bait thrown at success
and if they'd fail again, Square Enix would have been no more.
Omega represents the end of each game, defeating it requires you to invest hours into crook and crannies to give your characters every inch of strength they can attain, max level, end game gears
and full understanding of mechanism.

The thing i remember is
Omega was created by a civilization who was destroyed by Shinryuu
They build it to destroy Shinryuu and during the chase between dimentions he lost the track, also Shinryuu got sealed in a chest (because a dragon who can rip between dimentions and destroy entire universes cant open a fucking chest from the inside)
Thats why you find it wandering in the caves of the interdimensional rift
I dont remember if they told where you find Omega MKII, whos being guarded by like 10 Omegas, is a place where space and time joint, so MKII was the effort of the survivors of the **all** universes Shinryuu has destroyed, to stop Shinryuu
The Ultimate Dragon Slayer for the interdimensional destroyer who has waited an eternity and evolved and surpased all the power the creation has seen: NEO SHINRYUU... But you "accidentally" activate O MKII, he see you as a threat, and you have to fight him
Let's just agree on one thing: (SPOILERS for FFXIV)
